    🍠 Sweet potato ice cream recipe:
    1 medium sweet potatoes, previously baked (approx. 1-1 1/2 cups)
    1 1/2 cups soy milk (or any other vegan milk you like!) + more if needed
    3-4 TBL maple syrup
    2-3 TBL cocoa powder
    Pinch of salt
    Start with the smaller quantities of each ingredient. Blend everything together and give it a taste. If it needs more sweetness, add more maple syrup, if it needs more chocolate flavor, add the extra TBL of cocoa, if it's too thick, add more soy milk. Add all the contents into your Creami pint and freeze overnight. To make rocky road I added walnuts, vegan chocolate chips and vegan marshmallows. Enjoy!

    Hi Maddy, I don’t usually let mine sit out. I just scrape the bump down - if there is one - and spin. Respin if crumbly. I have 7 containers so I have lots of options. Ninja makes other models for larger amounts. Yes they are loud. I keep mine in another room and use it in there. I also wanted to mention that the seal on the lid should be removed and cleaned as well. I didn’t know that when I first got mine and it got a bit gunky.. ugh. Have fun… I know you’ll continue to love it.

      @LetsEatPlants  6 месяцев назад +3

      Oooh thank you for all these tips!! Yes I was thinking it probably didn’t need to sit out too long (or maybe not at all) after I realized it was getting soft pretty quickly. 😅 So thank you for letting me know! Same with the seal! I was worried to remove it, but now will definitely make sure I clean it. 🤗🤗 Appreciate it!

    Welcome to the Creami wagon !!! I have had mine for close to 2 years and, if it broke, I would buy another right then and there ! Also, don't forget to wash the rubber ring once in a while and wipe the corrugated rod that holds the blade after each spin. And YES, definitely buy more pints ! We got our Creami almost 2 years ago and we still use it all the time. I make pinapple sorbet with frozen pineapple+pineapple juice, some vanilla pudding mix then when you respin add some Aroy-D coconut milk (in a box). It's the most silky smooth pinapple/coconut sorbet. Way better than anything I've ever bought in a store.

    I gave my Cuisinart away...LOVE the NINJA ...will make your sweet potato choco...looks great. Kathy Hester has a lot NINJA Creamini teaching youtubes on her channel. Very thorough. Be sure to wash out the lid really well. I use a brush on it to get in all the crevices...and run hot water through it and then let it dry upside down. LOVED your enthusiasm. And yes, I did make a bunch of pints for a party at my sister's. Everyone was in NINJA heaven. So excited for your family to now be three. Wishing all the happiness in the world.

    Try freezing without the lid - usually less of a hump because it freezes from the top down as well as the sides in, rather than that pocket of air insulating the top and thus only freezing from the sides in, allowing the expanding liquid to bubble up and create the hump. And if the hump is centered it's probably not an issue at all. If it's off center then that's more of a concern. Also I'm not a thaw-er so that's worth experimenting with.

    1) How's the "mouth feel"? You had added some milk to the pineapple, but since it was frozen solid, did you feel any ice crystals, or did it pulverize them well.
    2) How loud is it compared to your Vitamix or Ninja? I sometimes leave the kitchen when I run the blender.

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  6 месяцев назад

      Good questions! So the mouth feel is pretty amazing. Even before adding the soy milk it was very sorbet-like and not icy. It definitely pulverizes ice crystals, and of course you can churn it repeatedly if needed. I do think adding some kind of creaminess into the recipe enhances that even more though! As I mentioned in the vid, it really helps with flavor, not just consistency, which adds to the overall mouth feel I find.
      It’s probably about as loud as the vitamix on setting 7 or 8. Not unbearable (I find the vitamix food processor louder actually), but I did leave the room, just because it’s on autopilot, so that makes it easy. 😊

    🍦 I'm a little confused how this is different from a regular blender. It's it just in the the blades spin? I'm gonna go look it up right now because that chocolate looked so good. 😂

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  6 месяцев назад +4

      Yes I was too at first! 😆😆 So the main difference I’ve noticed is that you don’t need nearly as much liquid to get the blades turning, like you would with a blender. So when I’ve made banana nice cream in the Vitamix before it ends up getting too soft because I need to add a lot of liquid to get the blades moving. (For that reason I think this machine will also be great for things like smoothie bowls! But milkshakes, not so much, as it just doesn’t seem necessary. 😂) It also takes things from a rock-hard solid state into creamy in just a few minutes, whereas with a blender you wouldn’t be able to do that. So really the possibilities are endless with the different kinds of ice cream you can make! Let me know if you find any other differences though, I’m still learning mine and would love to learn more. 😃

    Hi! I watched a previous ice cream video where you use the Cuisinart ice cream maker and I was thinking of purchasing. Which of the two do you recommend? I do not have a lot of counter space and will need to store and take it out when I use it. Thank you.

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi there! It really depends on your needs and preferences. The Cuisinart makes larger quantities and you don’t need to freeze your ice cream mixture for 24 hours before churning. (Just make sure you freeze the bowl! I just left mine in the freezer at all times.) The Ninja Creami is great for single serve, which gives more variety if you have spare pint containers from them, and gives you that “freshly churned” texture instantly. It is quite a bit louder than the Cuisinart and takes up slightly more space, but I do love the texture and consistency of ice cream it makes. It’s also easy to make healthy ice cream with it, since it can churn pretty much anything.. including plain frozen fruit like in this video… whereas the same ingredient mixture made in the Cuisinart may get icy over time in the freezer. Hope this helps!! 😃😃 Let me know if you have more questions. 😊

    • @heidyh.8739
      @heidyh.8739 4 месяца назад

      @@LetsEatPlants Thank you so much! Thank you for letting me about the ice cream turning icy with the Cuisinart, that's what I was wondering. I just saw some videos on the Ninja Creami Deluxe, which is nice because it offers larger pints, but the size is big....wow, tough decision. I'm not vegan but I'm trying to cook 80% vegan and I'm also not drinking dairy, so my ice cream would be vegan. Do you keep the Ninja on your countertop? I will have to check if the original creami is not as tall as the deluxe, so maybe that's a good option. lol...sorry..I want a machine so bad but not an easy decision. After watching your ice cream videos it made me want to purchase a machine...I want to try your recipes -they better taste amazing, lol!

    • @LetsEatPlants

      @@heidyh.8739 You’re welcome! So yes, just to clarify it’s not the Cuisinart making it icy.. it’s the ingredients of a healthier ice cream. But the magic of the Ninja is that it breaks up those ice crystals every time you churn it, so basically right before you eat it!
      Oooh the deluxe sounds great! I didn’t know they have that option. 😃 With the creami you can eat half and store the other half back in the freezer and just churn it again when you’re ready… so even if it’s quite large that would work out ok!
      I store mine in the pantry when I’m not using it because it takes up too much counter space for something that doesn’t get used everyday. (Especially in winter I’m not really using it at all!) Maybe in the summer if I’m using it frequently I’ll keep it out. 😄😄
      That’s awesome you’re incorporating more vegan meals!! Love that! Definitely try some of these ice creams .. they are healthy and yummy. 😋 Lots of other vegan options for ice cream nowadays too so I’m sure you’ll get great use out of whichever ice cream maker you get!

    She called it “ice cream” when it’s not ice cream at all. There are names for a reason. Ice cream has to have a certain percent of milk cream, and it also has to have the thickening cream effect by sugar (and now allulose can be used for similar effect). So 99.9% of classic sugar free iced treats and all of the zero/low fat iced treats are not ice cream. It sounds like I’m splitting hairs but I’m not. These are important factors in flavor and nutrition. It’s not as big of a deal from you, but these rules are to prevent companies from lying and misleading people about what they’re eating. For people like you sharing, it can also be used to mislead people into thinking there is a “healthy ice cream” options which is a lie because it’s not ice cream. Now that Allulose has been made available, that has similar properties to sugar and can work as a replacement for real ice cream. Only for the past Few years has this advancement and most store brands have not caught on yet to allulose actually being able to make real ice cream. I’m not judging you for anything that you’ve chosen to say here, it’s an innocent use. But I think it’s important for people to know this because other people make these claims about their recipes that are just misleading/lies. A real ice cream has to have a lot of milk fat, and it must have allulose or sugar or potentially some other texture changing ingredients (alcohol potentially). Most “sugar-free” ice cream isn’t real ice cream, and only in the past year or two was real sugar free ice cream possible with allulose.

    So far I find that it’s absolutely NOT worth it. Why it’s a machine that advertises like it makes ice cream in a timely manner is beyond me and why it’s advertised that it makes ice cream while conveniently requiring you to buy a WHOLE SEPARATE blender is beyond me. If I could return it and get a real sorbet maker I would do so in a heartbeat because now I’m sitting here with this machine that doesn’t do anything but mix after waiting forever.

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  5 месяцев назад +1

      Oh no! I guess it's not for everyone. I do also have the Cuisinart ice cream maker, which is more of just a churner, and you don't need to wait for anything to freeze first. Maybe you can return the Ninja Creami and check out some other options! 🙁🙁

      If you want a sorbet maker, the Nama J2 makes sorbet - I have this juicer and I love it. I also make nut milk and cold-press juice with it. But, I purchased the ice cream machine because I wanted to make vegan ice cream, which has a creamier consistency than the sorbet. I'm hoping I will love the Ninja Creamie.

    Welp, wasted half a quart of ice cream and some milk just trying to make a shake as the first test. The blade inside just spins at the top. I thought it was supposed to move up and down 🤔 Total fail.

    so why can't you make an ice cream mix and put it in a blender? That is all this is doing. what a waste of space in a kitchen.

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  4 месяца назад

      You definitely can! If you’ve ever done it before you will know it’s challenging without adding too much liquid, but if you’ve got it down, then of course you can do it that way. 😊 This machine just makes it easier and a lot of people prefer the convenience.

      Lol… to each their own! A lot of viewers of this channel have had theirs for years and LOVE it. I also have a Vitamix and have made plenty of “ice creams” (sorbets, etc) in there and this machine is completely different. However, if it’s not for you, that’s fine too. 😊😊

  • @mcham0846
    @mcham0846 5 месяцев назад

    Waste of money. You can basically do this with a blender

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  5 месяцев назад +2

      It’s definitely different than a blender! I have a Vitamix and this is absolutely not the same. A blender needs a lot more liquid to get the blades moving and ends up giving you a much wetter consistency. (Speaking from experience here!) You could however potentially use a food processor instead, as it doesn’t require as much liquid. 😊 The machine definitely isn’t a necessity, but is great to have for convenience if you love ice cream.
