He is a better actor then people give him credit for. Rocky, First Blood and Cop Land prove that. He isn't the best but he is better then people give him credit for. He is one of my favorite actors too.

Rocky is without a doubt my favorite movie franchise. I don't see how anyone can't root for Rocky as he represents so much of what many of us go through as far as facing the seemingly impossible yet triumphing despite the odds ( I realize he didn't "win" the fight per se but going the distance with Apollo Creed was a victory in and of itself). When life gets tough for me I listen to the Rocky soundtrack and think of how he faced his problems head on. We really need to be our own Rocky Balboa in life.

The final monologue in First Blood is truly breathtaking. Recently watched that movie again, and I had forgot just how brilliant the Rambo character was, and how well Stallone played him. The fact that there's only one death during the entire film is also something that surprised me.

For me, he had a lot more to overcome than Rocky Balboa who, even though he was the underdog, still had a lot of good things in his life, like family, love and a sense of community. Rocky had that support system and a positive attitude. Rambo had none of that and still fought for others before himself. I guess that's what spoke to me but I know Rocky's much more popular.

some people cant see subtile emotions an actor has or body gesture all that stuff,, you sort of have to feel the character and i had that alot with stallone :) i mean alot actors have their own touch but some actors just are plain uninteresting

Rocky is a better movie. But First Blood is a much better performance, how many action stars/characters can break down in tears and still make themselves convincing as a complete assassin? Not many, First Blood is by far and away the best performance Stallone has ever given. It's a shame the actual performance is often overlooked by Rocky because it's a better overall film.

First blood was great, but you see Stallone not just a man who gives EVERYTHING in these roles, but you see a man that can be anyone.
Stallone is so under rated as an actor, but he has proven in the last 10 years, why he is so good.
He is not underrated, but he is the best of them. Period.

I'm so glad you put Cop Land on this list finally! It's such an overlooked and underrated masterpiece. Stallone as well as the rest of the cast were Oscar-worthy (it's a shame that it didn't get the attention it deserved) at best and the writing and directing is something of beauty! Its close to being like a Scorsese flick with a mix of slow moments and possibly one of the greatest gun fights in cinema! Seriously guys, Stallone shoots the fricken T-1000 in the heart! It's definitely worth every minute of your time! Okay, okay, I'm done with my love letter!

Sad but true. Fathers dont seem to realise how vital their connection to son's development into manhood is. Thank GOD for Rocky, Rambo, superman, and OTHER heroes, where our dads failed to Be that role model. God help kids TODAY. I guess they have marvel and dc superheroes on screen now but they changed. First Blood is the highlight of his career as an actual actor imho. It was an actual performance. His monologue at the end was was very emotional. How he talks about his friend dying in vietnam and what happened when he came back "home". For some reason I watched it way later after seeing many of his other movies, but this was the first time I watched him as a serious actor, even Oscar-worthy.
(My second favourite is his peformance in Rocky Balboa, also fantastic acting).
I loved NightHawks. Stallone and Rutger Hauer in a very underrated movie.

good list of a great writer and director and a very enjoyable actor to watch who has made some of the greatest movies off all time.
Cop land is a majorly underrated movie, with a stacked cast and Stallone shined. Should have won an Oscar for the role in my opinion. A shame the movie and the performance is so overlooked

His performance in Lock Up was really good as well. Definitely the end of First Blood was his best acting. Heartbreaking scene. Will go down as one of the most iconic actors that ever lived. He is still going strong. Can’t wait until Rambo 5

I like the Stallone and Shawzenegger but I think that they are differents styles. Stallone played well an "action and dramatic movie" with more realistic histories (Rambo, Rocky Balboa, Cobra). In other hand, Shawzenegger played better comedy and fiction movies (Kindergarten Cop,Jingle All the Way, Terminator,Conan and Predator). Both are action, but I think that Schawzenneger played well more styles than Stallone. Stallone has never played a great comedy in his carrer.

You know, I had an idea less than a year ago that Sylvester Stallone would have been the right casting choice as Superman's nemesis Bizarro in Richard Donner's/Christopher Reeve's Superman film series if they were made the right way. The character of Bizarro would have had a Frankenstein's Monster-like character concept.

First Blood is certainly a classic and Rambo:First Blood 2 has one of the most epic lines ever said in a film. I went to the movie with my dad and a bunch of his Vietnam war buddies and I will never forget the reaction when the following lines were said. When Trautman was trying to convince Rambo to go back to Vietnam and take pictures and Rambo finally agrees to do it.....Rambo says " Sir-Do we get to win this time?" and Trautman answers "This time it is up to you"...every single person in that theater went crazy with happiness.....so many men felt that same way after the war. I saw tears in the eyes of a lot of grown men that day!

Sylvester Stallone is my favorite actor. In my mind, he is considered one of the greatest action heroes of all time. And I'm glad that he and his career refuse to die.
