This is what makes D1 college basketball special
It's kinda funny that some of these colleges have the most elaborate gymnasiums and arenas, but if you look during games, the areas be half empty.
Im late but there still schools so most of the students will have classes to go to
@@jamesdukes1869 games are almost always on weekends or 7 PM or later on weekdays
@@Collinscody01 you’ve never been in a hard class in college if that’s you’re reasoning
@@davidbentley4417 And neither have most of the students at these games.
@@davidbentley4417either have you based on your terrible grammar. Corn ball
It’s weird that my 3,500 seater high school gym is bigger than a good chunk of D1 schools
What school? Merriville?
XD
@Julian O'Sullivan nah hs gyms probs wont be bigger than most nz arenas.. but college gyms definitely would
my hs only seats 1000
Most HS's in my district seat between 2200-3500 and they are modern and lock nice. Some of these are plain sad. Some of these schools are charging an Accountants salary per year and yet has a gym that look like a gym at the Boys and Girls club.
Imagine a road swing in the big south playing at usc upstate then going to Hampton and playing with a full crowd. Straight culture shock
I love arenas like Georgia Tech's and Old Dominion's. Not too big, not too small, just the right size imo. Also GT's arena has an awesome theater lighting setup.
0:05 It’s still crazy to think that a D1 school has a basketball arena that looks like what I played in for rec league
Even High Schools in My Area has Bigger Gyms than these
Ah yes, the Erving J. Nutter Center at 44:20. That place has always had a special part in my heart, been going to games since I was a mere child. I saw the 06-07 Raiders beat Butler to go to their second-ever Division 1 Tournament. I've seen the Raiders under 4 incredible coaches.
I tried doing this in my own for months, I got halfway, thanks for posting this!
It's interesting to see the evolution of arenas seating arrangements because there's no denying that a pattern in style of the arenas and the era they were built is present
I love the transitioning of background music but most importantly the info of all the college basketball arenas in order of capacity. Honestly I downloaded this video last year & still have it till now for only 1 reason (it's in form of a personal request): if you don't mind to please update this video to the upcoming 2022-2023 college basketball season using the same format as you did in this video! The reason behind it is that I want to use that to come up with a plan that will become a never-done-before, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will be called the PERFECT COLLEGE TOUR & attempt the 3-Point Shooting Contest, like the NBA, at all the arenas in record number of days AS A FUNDRAISER for a number of causes (won't mention right now unless you want to know) & in return I get to have the greatest vacation of all time or should I say IN MY LIFETIME!! If this has touched you, please respond to it when you have time! Thank you in advance. Just so you know, I'm Kenyan who is currently staying in East Africa right now. Thank you!
23:45. Go Owls
Fun fact: Tudor Fieldhouse recently hosted a tennis exhibition match featuring Andy Roddick and James Blake, tickets sold out in just under 60 hours. Tudor also has the second-closest student section in terms of distance from the court, at only 8 feet from the baseline (Duke is #1 at 6.8 feet).
Yessss, this is awesome. Thank you!
If my local elementary school has a higher capacity of any of theses I will cry
19:35
I was looking forward so much to see the inside of my alma maters gym only to have it be Moody Coliseum for SMU
41:55 I have been there. A fun fact is, not many people know there is a practice gym in the back of the building! Also, that is not a very good interior picture, the upper bowl is not very visible, but actually extends behind the light-up sign near the top of the photo. It is quite steep too, and no seat backs to catch you if you fall. I remember being there when I was like 7 and being scared I would fall all the way down. We later moved closer because it was not very full. Really good place to watch a game because you are right near the action, because it was designed for just basketball and volleyball, no hockey setup under the seats that would otherwise push the seats farther from the court. I actually had the patience to make a model of this arena for myself in Minecraft!
This video is really good and I didn't know most of the ivy league teams have arenas that can hold such little amount of people since I've been to penn universitys palestra and it's pretty big.
56:40 that picture is literally taken where my season tickets are
Let’s go jays
They rock
You guys should do a new one of these!! I loved watching these videos!!
3:58 Thought it said Daddy Gymnasium for a second lol
Some of those 2000-3000 seat places (Drexel) look like they could have some serious atmosphere if packed for a rivalry matchup
My teams are 49:20 52:11 58:10
Insane to think that the teams playing in “arenas” in the first 5 minutes of this video are competing for the same national championship as teams playing in areas in the last 5 minutes of this video.
I graduated from high school at the Ferrell Center (Baylor) back in 2015
Can you do a updated video plz
I've been to the sky dome before at NAU
Denver, Drake, Michigan, Oregon, and Tennessee have pretty cool arenas
You mean Michigan State? Michigan lacks an actual upper bowl, has less seating, and has an odd student section layout.
I'm not ashamed I watch full video
Iupui was my college we play at the indiana state fair grounds
You got the picture wrong for Abilene Christian you place the picture for SMU which is Moody auditorium and ACU is Moody Colosseum
Gallagher-Iba Arena (Ok State) had the oldest court in college basketball. The floors are almost 100 years old.
UAPB🎉 GOLDEN LIONS🎉🎉
Any chance of doing an updated video showing the 2021-2022 arenas??
Also jmu got a sick upgrade recently
Saxophone guy is popping off
It is either the breslin center at michigan state or phog allen at kansas.
My high schools court cap is 2,205
Greensboro Coliseum (UNC Greensboro) capacity is over 22,000...not sure where the 7,613 figure comes from. That's about the capacity in front of the curtain when used for some concerts.
36:29 is my favorite!
You put SMU’s arena for Abilene Christians
Crazy how in indiana most of our high school stadiums are bigger than alot of these colleges
Really like the Newer Arena's that seat 3,000-6,000 in capacity.
I think Hinkle Fieldhouse for Butler has to be on the top of my list. Syracuse University probably come in second when they fill the place.
Fantastic compilation! Thanks for putting this together!
Shocked WKU's is so much smaller than I thought
A lot of these photos are really old like Morehead State has video boards and other things now
Syracuse really said hold my beer
Look at UTEP man so inspirational
I've been inside of Austin peay state university at the Dunn Center in Clarksville Tennessee
I’ve been to 46:11, 48:19, 48:25, 51:59, and 58:18
Probably would’ve been to more if covid didn’t happen
My favorite is Jenny Craig Pavilion at University of San Diego. The exterior is gorgeous like the rest of the campus, but I'm biased (class of 1987)
57:13 and 58:06 are my favorite teams!!
BOOO KENTUCKY
Let’s go duke beat Kentucky
Go UK!
7:20 my favorite team go mount!
Didn't see SHM South Carolina State arena.
8:20 it’s right there.
Yes it is. Thanks.
Np
Bro the Greensboro coliseum can hold like 24,000 people.
UNC Greensboro doesn't sellout max capacity. Small school so they configure for 7,000
I don’t know if your doing this by capacity or like most they have ever had at a game but the Greensboro Coliseum can hold a lot more than 7k
Surprise with Gonzaga.. never thought it was just a 6,000 capacity stadium..
I understand that for some of these schools, basketball may not be the #1 sport within their Athletics programs. However, I believe that it’s a bit absurd for a Division 1 school (Charleston Southern, Seattle U, UC Upstate, among others for example) to play in venues that are the equivalent to recreational center gyms (and in some cases) smaller (in terms of capacity) than High a school gyms. For this reason, I think these schools should be placed in Division II. Their attraction level is very similar to that of a majority of Division II schools, and I think they would be better suited to play in this division. But that’s just my take. Nice video overall!
58:46 BLEED 🍊
the abilene christian arena interior is of SMUs arena
26:33 my fav team
Rupp Arena made some changes and they hold 23,500k 😳! Syracuse tho... DAMNNNNN
20,545 for basketball after the recent renovations.
Rupp used to hold over 23k before they removed the bleachers from the upper level and put in chairs.
12:12 Bobby Mo🔴🔵⚪️
58:26 it’s crazy that UNC is 3rd I thought it was bigger than average but not by that much I guess college basketball isn’t as big outside of NC.
Hinkle field house best ever
I enjoyed the video. I didn't realize that...
A. Louisville has the second largest arena in the NCAA, larger than both Kentucky and North Carolina
B. Gonzaga's arena is that small
C. South Carolina's arena is large...seating 18,000!
D. Alabama's arena had that many seats. It seems smaller than it actually is
E. Louisiana's arena has a larger capacity than both LSU and Louisiana Tech's arenas
F. Green Bay's arena was that big
G. Wyoming's arena once sat 15,000
H. A view of the Los Angeles skyline can be had from inside USC's arena
The Kennel (nickname for Gonzaga's arena) has a waiting list for tickets each year cause of the popularity of the men's program.
OMG bro! How long did this take you? Fantastic video!
4:05 My team. Let’s go Matadors!
I like the Dean Dome at Chapel Hill where Tar Heels play
Me too
Does Oregon state have a basketball team❓
KFC YUM center is the best in the nation for sure
Auburn arena has become the best home court advantage in the sec with only 9,121 fans
The old man used to say: it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog
Otávio Ferreira for sure they didn’t lose a home game till the last home game of they year
33:57 theres my team

Mine is back at 14:29. Good thing is there is funding and plans to build a new area gonna be much bigger. the volleyball team will get the old area
Bud Walton is fire
58:36 absolutely beautiful arena, better than most nba arenas
49:15 Its Dan Diego State, not San Diego which is a different, private university and it's not UC San Diego either
Ian Cypes San*

It would be nice if you did The Swedish Basketball League arenas.
17:35 LBSU Dope💯
Fear the Turtle 🐢 GO TERPS!!! Best fans in all of college football. Best atmosphere.
23:26 there's my team 💚💛
Is this every school for sure??
I assume since the vid is 3 years old he weve gained alot of D1 teams since
Quite strange how small some of these are.
A lot of these places look like they’d be more suited to host high school or middle school basketball than college
@Kings Will Soon Rise ‘Cause I had a middle school gym that looked a lot like these
This *had* to have been a bitch to compile.
48:36 GO NOLES
My teams are at 39:16, 48:39 and 34:19
Moody Coliseum is Home to SMU not Abilene Christian
