At this point in the Episode, Spock's rage was so great that Shatner and Nimoy both transformed into stunt doubles which proceeded to wreak havoc upon the transporter room.
Tom Hanks almost was in Star Trek. When they were making Star Trek First Contact he begged the producers for a role in the film and they were going to cast him as Zefram Cochrane, but he had agreed to do another film before they had worked out when they were going to film it and was unable to do both films.
I would love to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey beside Tom Hanks. One of my all time fave flicks, and Tom would just make it that much more memorable. He wouldn't have to say anything either, just that geeky type of excitement he'd exude would be the icing on the cake for me! As for sci-fi roles, I can't see Tom in them like Harrison Ford. Now if Tom was the isolated inventor in Ex-Machina - holy crap, imagine how awesome that movie would've been!
