If I were in the market for a new webcam the FaceCam and the PW513 from Avermedia would definitely be on my shortlist of purchase choices. 📷 Regarding the Wave XLR, I will say that having the ability to use the Wave Link software with any given XLR mic of my choosing is one of the biggest selling points of interest to me. 😆👍👍 Plus, having the ability to use Clip Guard is also another of the biggest selling points for me. ☺👌🎤🎧
wave link is good and all but you can only use it with non usb headphones which you have to plug directly into the mic otherwise the latency is just way to big to be of use in any game
I really don''t understand how a poor quality webcam can have a $200 price x_x I really wish large photography companies to develop serious webcams of quality for the same price.
@@AlexMarvik true, for 200$ you are almost in a used body + kit lens territory. Really makes you think what they could do with that budget, if it was only about a Webcam
Great job on this video, Pete. I was hoping for a bit higher level of updating on the Stream Deck as I've been shopping the entire line and close to pulling the trigger. Nonetheless, the new functionality/connectivity is welcome and the Wave XLR, as someone who produces video on location with production-quality mics, really sounds, no pun intended, worth a serious look.
That Avermedia Camera just looks wayy better when seeing the comparisons (Avermedia did not sponsor this comment and no money changed hands). Great Review though!
An awesome review and video as per usual, Pete! ☺👌 as ever, I appreciate you for taking the time to create this awesome content as well as the high level of detail and thoroughness that you go into here. 😆👍👍 Cheers to you, my man! 🍻
I second the comments about adding filters to Wave Link. Right now I can run everything EXCEPT the Wave 3 mic through Wave Link because I need to add the filters in OBS. Makes no sense.
apparently, VST plugins are coming, I just watched Harris talk about in his review of the wave xlr. since it will be part of wave link, I'd be shocked if it didn't work for the wave mics, as well. I'm in the same boat, so I'm hoping it shows up sooner rather than later. Adding each "source" as it's own in OBS is getting annoying. I'd like to use 1 if at all possible to make it more simplistic.
Why don't more reviewers talk about this! Razer webcams are bad because the settings on the webcam are constantly forgotten by other webcams because you need to rely on their software, and their software is finnicky and unclear with how to change between modes. I just want a webcam the remembers it shouldn't automatically turn on auto-exposure, auto focus, 30fps, default contrast and brightness settings, etc everytime I open OBS or Discord
I love Elgato, but i feel they missed the boat with the Webcam. I'd had prefered a more premium product at a higher price point. We've got enough cams in the $200 price point, when looking at Elgato, i'm willing to pay extra for a better product.
Great video, Pete! I am the proud owner of multiple Elgato items because of this channel. Need to update my stream camera and now have to decide on using camlink or this new camera, which seems to be the best of the lot you have tested. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Great review! A mic arm video would be great! I use the Gator Framework Delux and it's really loud when trying to move the arm and it's hard to move if I'm using it to stream. I am looking for a new mic arm that's easy to move out of the way and that it isn't squeaky and loud.
Thanks a lot for the review, the Wave XLR is very interesting to me. I own a Brio 4K camera so the Facecam won't be much of a change, though it is a great product and something I'll buy if I need another camera
Great video! Thanks for this. Very detailed. I am a audio snob and this wave xlr made the sm7b sound like a wave 3 which to me makes it pointless to switch in my opinion so thank you for making this video
We're using HD 60 S+ with Nikon Z6 cameras and Sigma F1.4 Art Lens so I would say the Facecam doesn't tempt us. When we don't have an engineer on lives, admitted get tripped up sometimes with mute as we don't have an indicator light staring talent in the face, so the Wave XLR is somewhat interesting.
Please if you manage to do the video about mic arms, please add the Vivo Mic Arm, it is $80 and seems incredible (uses actual monitor mounting hardware with a microphone compatible clamp and thread at the end). Edit: Has been in my radar alongside the gator frameworks 3
I wished that the Wave XLR had outputs for studio monitors or a true line-out, feels like a missed oportunity. But maybe there will be a Wave XLR Pro that got more outputs? I'd buy that in a heartbeat if got the same sleek look :D
I'm torn with purchasing the Facecam or not. I've been using a C920 for over 4 yrs now and been saying I'd eventually go the DSLR route for years but never have pulled the trigger. Even at $200 its 3x cheaper then a decent DSLR setup (Camera ~500-650, camlink $120, another $50 in accessories) and it seems it would be worlds better then what I currently get out of the C920.
On the Elgato Facecam: Another point I can add is this. Not every platform supports 4K streaming, such as Twitch. Twitch doesn't necessarily support 4K resolution, meaning, the 4K aspect of those facecams are completely irrelevant. I'd rather the Elgato Cam be 1080P60 for this reason. It's an easier load on the PC like you said, plus I stream on Twitch, so a 4K cam would be a huge waste. This will be plenty good enough for my needs!
I’ve seen you do videos for video and and sound inside of obs, and video filters outside of OBS, but I haven’t seen a video to get the best Audio quality outside of obs ie. inside discord and in game chats
The Wave XLR is nice piece. Can it power a high impediance headphone >250 Ohm loud enough? The go XlR mini I have has a little bit of trouble with my 250Ohm headphone. How is the sound quality? And would it be an upgrade from the mini?
My question here is: Can I run any microphone here without using a cloudfilter? I'm honest when I say that I don't want to spend like 80$ for an extra filter when the microphone is already expensive plus the mixer.
Hi. I bought the Wave XLR and I'm loving it, but!!!! I use a Mac and which means I can't download the recent VTS software you use with it in Wavelike or OBS. Do you know if Elgato are working on it and if not what do you recommend. Be Good 🤪
the autofocus is a taste thing, i mean i hate when it starts to hunt... but built in mic? in 2021? why? if you get a $200 cam, you should at least get a decent mic as well....
Hi. I was looking for any reasonable review of mic arms that will or can fit into my desk environment, but I could not find any. I can see two reasons for that: either it is an impossible configuration for any "normal" arm, or there is no one who made any kind of testing for that unusual mount. But let's get to the point. Most arms are mounted to the desk at the same level (or below) where the keyboard lays and the monitor stands. But my desk is quite small, and cant fit those. My setup is almost completely vertical. I can mount/attach mic arm only to the shelf above my monitor, this is roughly my eyes level or even a little bit higher. Now the QUESTION: is any of those mic arms suitable? Is it be even possible to use the arm and bend it that the mic attachment is below the arm attachment point? Those Elgato arms look like they would fit into that situation. The attachment point of the arm would be about 30* higher than the level of my arm, within arm reach. Any help would be appreciated.
My Rode PSA-1 can bend 90° on the bottom hinge, which means the entire upper arm can point down. So, I think that'd work for your situation. However, that stresses the spring, and might reduce its lifespan.
@@pronewbofficial Thank You. I was also thinking about adapting Manfrotto Magic Arm or simmilar product. Looks like i need to go to some kind of music/photography shop and look more into those arm products.
Well, people say that you need Cloudlifter even for GO XLR, which is stupid, it has 70dB of gain, some preamp would always benefit, less noise, etc. The thing is, is 60dB enough? I always see people say that you need more than 60dB on the SM7B, it requires minimum of 60dB, so yeah, it works
The facecam lacks detail and sharpness compared to streamcam, the fact it has a Sony sensor, makes me to ask, why to spend 200$ for facecam, when you can buy the streamcam in sale for like 100$?
What are your thoughts? At $200 for the Facecam, and $160 for the Wave XLR, do either of these tempt you?
Hi mate! The Wave XLR seems to be nice! One curiosity, what’s your professional camera btw? Cheers
The Wave XLR looks interesting. I have ATR2100X that has really low input, I want to try pre-amp this up

man, this channel is criminally underrated. straight to the point: no cringe: top tier production: relatable. love the content man
I agree. I always come here for Elgato reviews and comparisons lol
absolutely. his content is raw, unadulterated and helpful.
Whenever I see these new 150€+ "Streaming" Webcams im always impressed by how good the 50€ (pre-corona) Logitech C920 has been for yeaaars.
The C920 is definitely the "Toyota Hilux" of webcams
Some laptops have better webcams then these $200 "streaming" webcams.
@@MalcontentNewsWhat’s a Toyota Hilux? /s

A review of the various arms is a good idea. I hope you produce it soon. Thanks for all the excellent tips
would love to know about both in depth mic arms as will be getting one for my set up great video as always

For those that watched the review recently, Elgato did add the effects in their software since their last expo.

the fact that there is a save function onto the camera is the reason I will buy it. Im so tired of my logitech reverting to default

Great reviews 👍
FYI the kiyo pro's firmware update (1.05) fixed all of my focus issues that you (rightly) called out.
Very interesting! In particolar the new cam and arm for mic :-)
I would love to see a video comparing all those arms! :)

Sad that the wave XLR won't work with a two PC setup. I'm surprised that they didn't add any additional I/O
no disrespect but as a music streamer the xlr doesnt come close to what I have and my gear is cheaper

AverMedia wins out. Also what's with the fish-eye on the Razer. I feel like their products consistently don't justify their price tag.
Can you make a video about the OBSBOT Tiny PTZ webcam?
Any chance any of those Mic Boom Arm's have a 4Inch or larger clamp? Ya boi got a thicc desk.
I use the blue compass as a low profile / under the monitor mic boom arm. Can you compare with the LP Elgato?
we need a mic that has flash memory to save the settings too

So if I have the elgato wave 3 mic do I need the elgato wave xlr to make it better?
Curious how it compares to Brio.
How does your channel perform with one video a month?
"are there any products Elgato don't make?" - just wait until their announcements next year.
The streaming gear that you have just chillin on shelf is better than 85% of most streamer setups
What is that stand used for the traditional boom arm mic?
in most cases a professional Streamer will choose a DSLR or a DSLM over a Webcam like the Sony a6000 or the Sony a5100.
what app was on your tablet at 7:47
will the wave xlr work on a 2 pc streaming setup?
