Great program, caters for all .I don’t do fresh water fishing these days,Beach and Shore now, I have for many years always fed my garden pond fish, koi ect , left over rag worm ,cut up in 2 inch pieces, THEY LOVE THEM.
Great video Graeme 🎣🎣,Maybe it's because of the ocean flavor ( salt ). My P.B Pikes, where all court on - lampray , mackerel, blueies, sardines 😃. Or is the amount of oils, that they contain 🤔. The cat was probably, hopping you dropped a small skimmer on the bank. For his or her supper 🤣😃
I made a soft bread and bloodworm extract bread paste Fished my local lake Caught more than I ever have 3/10lb carp 30 carp in 2hr Absolutely manic Thanks for the videos Graham
Great, interesting video! In Florida I’ve used left over squid, brined thread fin herring and Bonita used for grouper and snapper offshore to make great catfish bait in freshwater. That nasty tuna oil would probably make good chum mixed with bread and a little water. Good fishing!
That's three columns..of totally awesome...I think was Smith that once mentioned that estuarine bream n carp regularly feed on such marine fare.... Swingers n netters on squid tentacles...
It's interesting to see different baits and additives being used. A very enjoyable video as always. Talking of otters. I was rudely disturbed by one on a Thames backwater, a couple of weeks ago. I had been wondering what the high pitched squeek sound was, when it suddenly popped up about 6ft in front of me. We were both startled and it splashed me with its tail as it dived under again. I was amazed how big it was. I know they're a nuisance on fisheries, but it was amazing to see one in the wild.
Your bream look so different than ours here in the south eastern US ! Itlooked like a shad almost. But enjoyed the video from a clearly experienced angler from across the pond!
Squid and prawns are my go-to catch-anything baits. Bread and worms (garden or beach, both work well) are close behind. A big selling point for squid, apart from it's cost, is it's very durable and hard to get off the hook for a lot of fish. When we go whiting fishing we often use worms and prawns to find the fish then switch to squid and catch a feed, rather than use all of our prawns and worms in a short hot streak.
I love your videos Graham! It's kinda like punk fishing! Expensive one today though, squid and ragworm ain't cheap! My favourite is the left over bacon fat session!!!
Partners parents have quite a big pond filled with carp, roach and bream. We've always chucked left over rag in after a trip of we decide not to go again and the carp do go mad for them, I've never used them myself down a public water though
Years ago fishing shops sold a basic bite indicator. A spring clip attached to the butt section of the rod, and a balsa arm hung from it. At the end was a small rod ring that could be opened. A bite saw the arm lift, or you could tension the line to make a drop back indicator. Mine disappeared years ago, but your detergent bottle top reminded me of the days before buzzers and bobbins.
@@spring899 There are still one or two carpers using monkeys and glass rods for nostalgia value. All that matters is you can see a bite developing. Way back they used to grease a section of line and watch the loops for movement. I prefer foil to detergent lids because tops can jam the rings, and are hard to unclip while playing a fish. What I don't understand is £1000 sets of bite alarms to detect line movement, but modern angling reinvents the wheel for commercial purposes.
Hello Graeme, happy friday mate, great video well they always are, you tell a story so well, and always great tips, have a nice weekend, might pop off to bond lake Friday got a day off, will see what comes up.
same i watch this films and decide to come back to fishing after 7 years gone try sea fishing for macrel in scarborough first time sea fishing lets have go why not world belong to us. have good day all
You can buy frozen, raw Calamari (squid) rings from the supermarket - just cut them into sections & less messy than all those tentacles, skin & heads etc.
Interesting fishing experiment but with ragworm £10 for about half lb, and bread 65p a loaf I will stick to bread, but handy to use spare bait if you have been on a sea fishing trip.
@@TAFishing Bait is not cheap nowadays. Ragworm and peeler crab are probably some of the most expensive baits you can buy! Years ago for roach I used elderberries and boiled wheat as bait. Never seem to see it used any more.
I use Japanese developed squid and octopus extract that is supposed to trigger a feeding response. It was made to artificially add weight to koi carp by getting them to eat more than usual. It's been around donkeys and is definitely a trusted carp attractant so there should be no reason squid wouldn't work.
I genuinely think fish will eat almost anything, I've caught a chub on a section of Mars bar and my uncle caught a double figure carp on what used to be Opel fruits.
Apparently chub are partial to a ragworm! As freshwater fish don't tend to get much salt in their natural diet it's not really surprising they take sea baits.
This has convinced me to try something I've been toying with for a while, 30 mil boilies (fish based) on a hair rigged 4.0 for cod, wrasse and so on....what are your thoughts ?
whats the worse that can happen? Internet wisdom (whatever that is) says wont work, but its got to be worth a go right? Chap I was on a charter boat with recently was using some Korda "Goo", he had a few extra fish than anyone else, but was that the magic? Skipper didnt think so, his opion was he was just a better more experienced fisherman & in 'that spot' on the rail that happens every trip.
Haven't tried boilies but I used to wrap a lump of florescent (can't remember the brand) monster crab and squid paste around the hook to add flavour to standard baits.. did it help, not sure but I always seem to catch well on the boat off dover
Bought my first fly set up yesterday because I've been doing so much free lining lately with worms and grasshoppers I thought I'd give it a go, less than £100 for rod, pre-spooled reel, hard carry case, net, hat, polarised aviators and a box of flys 🤣 all looks good enough quality for my standards but suspect some parts are made of cheese or something. Going to first trout lake tomorrow. Any advice?
@@johnkay7354 managed a small trout and a spent an hour testing flys trying to catch a roach which I did haha more pleased of that than the trout. Couldn't believe it found a massive trout asleep and managed to get it with my net but didn't account for the weight, slipped and it jumped out! Will take worms next time, just stick one on a fly and cast out?
Generally if a bait is banned it is because it's either potentially dangerous to the fish (poorly prepped nuts etc.) or because they're used to excess and it's causing water quality issues (algae blooms etc.)
Most places that ban bread do to ducks and swans getting hooked and injured and entanged in lines . So it gives the place and fishing a bad name . One place by me banned it cause one summer the whole lake was just coverd in bread and dog biscuits you couldn't see the surface .
It shouldn't be surprising. Boilies have been made using sea baits for years. Why use a flavoured boilie when you can se the real thing. It's like why have a strawberry flavoured sweet when you can have a real strawberry

That is absolutely nuts GP… catching fresh water fish on sea baits… must be the global warming !!!!

Been trying for bream and mullet recently they are so hard to catch whats the best for mullet
Small sections of Ragworm,or a pellet of bread. Or try a fish paste mixed with a slice of bread.
Just wondering , are you worried about falling in ?
No,but always had respect for the water, whether its freshwater or sea.
What's cheaper rag worm or night crawlers
I would think the night crawlers(earthworms)
@@TAFishing do they have meal worms there?
Do you still use your famous raptor oil ?

I do use it as I make it ,but more so in the winter in freshwater.
Do not confuse the liquid with your bbq sauce 😉
That would be a one-time mistake only !!!
