In this 2002 interview we sat down with Slash at his rehearsal studio to talk about the Yardbirds project he had just finish working on. The conversation went a little long also talking about guitars and sounds… Enjoy!

To me Slash is the greatest ever .... I do love Johnny Winter, Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore and all the Lynyrd Skynyrd 70’s lineup but I must confess Slash is the number 1 in my heart and to me Slash is the one that have all the combinations into one person , killer fingers blistering extraordinary licks , unmistakable guitar melody and voicing , fulminating timing his solos is spotless right on the time and beat , phenomenal taste in his riffs and sound, very grounded very humble a rarity in music scene , legendary albums and songs and absolutely amazing caricature of himself as being Slash with his cowboy boots , his low slung Les Paul with curly hair and Top hat , gee the guy is legendary, I was born in the middle 70’s , I don’t remember anything being as big as Guns’n’Roses was back in the late 80’s early 90’s ... so I give Slash the crown of # 1 guitarist of all time ( that film clip of don’t cry driving that 1966 SHELBY cobra GT350H ( Hertz ) over the hill and coming on top playing his solo and throwing his Les Paul down on the mustang in flames 🔥...man that is the ultimate Rock God guitarist of all time ) , and that is Slash , bless you Slash and thank you for your existence...

Aww, Slash is the most gorgeous man in the world!! I thought Slash was in his twenties!! Slash is just so good looking!! I love watching and listening to him play his guitar. I grew up listening to Country Music. I think it would be awesome if Slash did a Country Song!! I think Beggars And Hangers On sounds Country, especially when he does it acoustic. Guns N Roses' Patience sounds Country. Even Country Girls like Slash, especially this country girl!! I love you Slash!!!!

Mostly, probably. This was 2002 and he almost died in 2001 so he had to seriously cut back drinking, and he was mostly off dope, although he relapsed in VR.
from what i've heard/read , he wasn;t really sober until 2006
That's right, man, I'm such a huge GN'R/ Slash fan that I could tell from his interviews if he's clean. I don't need to see the date. I think me being a fuckin addict too adds to my great instinct/intuition! It ain't funny tho!
