McCartney is actually my favorite album by Paul and my favorite song on it is Kreen-Akrore. All of the songs on the album are good. I like the homemade, lo-fi quality of the tracks.
Excellent review! How an album with Everynight, The Lovely Linda, Junk, and Maybe I’m Amazed could get panned at the time of it’s release is beyond me, if I was Paul I would have taken in entirely personal. Junk is probably my favorite, such a gem.
This was an album that polarised me. I found it strange, like it was mostly a solo jam session compared to the polish of Beatles I'd experiences shortly before. I was young and probably didn't have the emotional maturity (11~12 years old) to consider the feelings behind the release. That said, Maybe I'm Amazed resonated with me and a couple of tracks had a haunting effect. Over time the album has grown on me and now I'll listen start to finish. Sometimes I like to listen to the original Maybe I'm Amazed and immediately follow it with a live version he recorded much later on tour .. its like the first time he was singing it to Linda and later he was confidently and victoriously shouting it to the world! Listening to the album in isolation today is very different to hearing it for the first time when it was released - while you are immersed in the music of the time. I never heard any of the tracks played on the radio and none of my friends at the time knew any of the tracks. Yet another aspect of my life that kept me in the weirdo club :) Looking back I think the album was a landmark in music - not for its brilliance but for the style and the way it was put together.
Very good review of the McCartney album as usual. It's been around for years and has aged well or maybe you can say it hasn't aged well because it still sounds good today after being out all those years ago! Also I am glad you enjoyed your holiday in New York City. Its a bad ass city! LOL. Looking forward to your next review-Russ
Enjoying all these videos. Having a early McCartney kick again of late. This review you have done has me agreeing with your opinions. Its experimental to me, but of the highest quality. Great vid.
It has a lot of good moments but it cohesively, it was lacking. At the time I was a 13 y.o. Beatles fan. I think I can speak for a lot of Beatles fan at the time, saying we were devastated by their break-up and were starved to hear any music from them as solo artists. It satisfied that "fix" at the time, but the test of time hasn't been so kind to it. Still there were many GREAT moments to come on future albums and he really had to start somewhere and he did thankfully.
If you put yourself in the position of a consumer, the last thing you heard from Paul was on "Abbey Road".....Since The Beatles constantly moved forward, this sounded crude and unfinished in comparison...Hence the bad reviews....Peace and Love, Terry Tutor
😀I love the Kreene Acore-spelling bee challenge😃🥁Love the drum solo- and the aresol can percussion on 'Ooo You'✨Have a great day🌞

@@Mandrake591 Thank you! I agree. It didn’t deserve the bad reviews
Good job. My list isn't all that different. Great hair too.
