The History of Jayne Mansfield & Inspired Look
The song made them pop stars, here in France. Before that, Gainsbourg was less popular as an artist, and he would write a lot for other artists. The whole album is very good, also thanks to the british musicians who helped arranged and played on it. Gainsbourg mostly used british musicians, from the mid sixties until the late seventies. Btw even spending her life in France since meeting Gainsbourg, Jane always kept her strong british accent, which french people loved. 😉
The song got much airplay on the radio in the USA, at least in the city where I lived. Likely it may have been censored in some religious areas, as many records were at the time. So funny you checking your French pronunciation 🤣
Very nice video thank you so much for the story behind this beautiful lady 💕😊
Thank you for your kind comment
I forgot to mention one other thing. When I was a young lad my parents took my sister and I to see Oliver. It seems like it was around the same time as the Monkees appeared and I too confused Jack Wild with Davy Jones. I think I got it sorted out by the time that H.R. Puffnstuff came out but of course I can't be sure.
My top three Monkees songs are 3.Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow) 2. Papa Jean's Blues. 1. For Pete's Sake.
I was 10 years old in January 1964 . I remember hearing them in 1963 on the radio , but this was the first time seeing 👀 them live . I have been a fan to this day ( 2024 ) . Long live ..... THE BEATLES !!!! 👀❤ - Aug/19/2024 🤠
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day also I subscribed to the channel ❤😊
@@aminahmed2220 Thank you so much! ❤️
I wanted to watch the Beatles perform but she never shut up.
I have a cool replica of the Standing stone where Paul may be buried
I do not see 200 Motels in your list of video reviews. If you're a fan of Ringo, it's a must-watch.
@@horowizard I do plan to review all his films at some point, I’ve just started with his first two
✨The Magic Christian sountrak album is very good
@@patlampo9288 I agree 😃
✨Yes, Ringo is so great! Would love to see him be in films now✨⭐️
😀Id like to own the Son of Dracula one too✨Thank you for hilighting these- haven't seen 'em yet but would like to
I did not even get to see Ringo in his later film "Caveman" where he decided Barbara Bach was the one for him. Did you see it ?
@@eddenoy321 Yes, I’ve got that one on DVD too. I did actually enjoy Caveman.
She pronounced it A-va....and yes it is a dreadful film (Candy)....And what was Marlon Brando doing in this mess? However, I did enjoy "Magic Christian " much more enjoyable...Peter Sellers ad-libbed almost all of his dialog.....I have a copy of "Magic Christian ", but not "Candy"...Peace and Love, Terry Tutor
@@TerryTutor-cv3hh I was surprised when I found out Marlon Brando appeared in the film! And I didn’t know Peter Sellers ad-libbed most of the film, that’s impressive.
Great video, I think about Sinatra every day and pretend that I can sing like him...haha....
A really good review. And of something I never knew was available! Do wish they would do the anthology on blu-ray with I'd hope new material. Especially since it was released nearly 30 years ago.
@@Russellclark-bo6ji Thank you! Me too, that would be great!
They had been on many TV shows in Europe so this wasn't their first.
@@davereese6614 It’s their first TV debut in the US
I was 6 years old in 1964 and I still distinctly remember watching this with my mom. I was mesmerised by them and their performance. I also remember afterwards that I would use a tennis racket as a guitar and pretend I was one of the Beatles.
@@mleistner I love this!
i love hearing stories like this!
I love the other acts and the commercials as well ( have had my own copy for years) ...Peace and Love, Terry Tutor
🌝I had come across many yeRs ago of some "granny glasses" but they were like thick lensed and weird to wear, kept them for a long time but now gone
😀Thanks for hilighting this Chlozy, I see this dvd (dividee) everywhere, but never purchase it, but as a crazy Beatle person think I'll get it. There is one Ed Sull of the Stones too. 😄💖
Somehow, I never heard Randy Scouse Git until 2 years ago. First time I heard it, I was cringing “what is this noise?!” Second time, I fell in love with verse melody. Third time, it was transformed into one of my top 5 Monkees songs! Well done, Micky.
There's a 1997 sci-fi series, "Dark Skies" with Eric Close, Megan Ward and Jeri Ryan, in which one episode, "Dark Days Night," deals with this legendary performance by the Beatles, because the evil "Hive" group wants to use this by millions of Americans seen tv-show, to put their plans for world domination into action. A rather amusing part of this unfortunately only 20 episodes long TV series.
@@braudabo This sounds interesting, I will check it out. Thank you
Good choices! I love those guys. Musically, they had some of the top songwriters of the era along with the wrecking crew until their third album when they took more control. They continued to have great songwriters and Mike stands tall next to them as a songwriter. I got to see them several times, but never all four together.
ruclips.net/video/B2sUG_G_Xl8/видео.htmlsi=NFF88p6r_NgacbvO I am from India
I've loved the Monkees since I was 11 years old, when the TV show premiered in 1966. It's difficult to pick a favorite Monkees song; the big hits mean a lot to me, but I also love less well known album cuts. I still have my albums I bought with allowance money when I was 12 or 13. My favorite band always.
I was able to do an impression of Ed Sullivan from a very young age. I was able to make people laugh doing that. I still can do it, but not all that many people remember his voice these days, LOL.
@@eddenoy321 I would love to hear that 😆
Great video! 😎😎😎😎
@@__superloser Thank you ♥️
Brilliant video. I'm planning my first Beatles related visit to Liverpool in the autumn (It's a five hour drive so needs to be planned a bit). I wanted to get some familiarity with the scenery in advance and came across this video, which is perfect. I almost don't need to go now. 😀
@@GoonyBoxes Thank you! I really hope you have a great time in Liverpool, I’m sure you will
Make sure to wear cashmere sweaters and khakis when playing piccolo and bongos.
Love your list! Keep making more Monkees content 😃
The Eleanor Rigby grave according to Paul McCartney was only when he realized much later co'incidental to the name of the song he had written..he had the name Eleanor, but only came up with Rigby when walking past a hat shop in Bristol one day...the hat shop name was 'Rigby's'...I have seen the interview where he says this to be true....but maybe he was advised by Epstein to make this up so he wouldn't get hassled for Royalties from the Rigby family, who knows?
When I first heard this story I wondered if he came up with it to stop fans going into the churchyard with a hammer and chisel and taking a bit of the gravestone as a souvenir.
✨Cant wait to check this book out
For a long time my favorite Beatles song was Hey Jude. In fact the first record I ever bought was a 45 rpm single of Hey Jude/Revolution after seeing them perform Hey Jude on TV. In 1970 I bought The Beatles Again which featured Hey Jude so that was my favorite Beatles album for a while. That song is still in my top five Beatle songs but for many years my favorite Beatles song has been Strawberry Fields Forever. I love the lyrics and all of the strange psychedelic sounds in it. I Am The Walrus is another one that is in my top five favorite Beatle songs.
I live in San Francisco and we don't have a Beatles store. I'm not sure why but it is definitely a problem. I'm going to have to go to London I guess.
I was 12 when this record came out and though I remember seeing the music video for Sentimental Journey on the Ed Sullivan Show it wasn't one that I bought at the time. I had a limited budget and was busy collecting Abbey Road, Beatles Again/AKA Hey Jude (an American compilation album released in February 1970), McCartney, and Let It Be which were all coming out one right after another over about six months. It was hard to keep up. I have listened to it since and it's quite a charming album. It certainly didn't deserve the drubbing it took from the critics at the time.
Wonderwall is a fine album. There are a few tracks I don't like much but I like most of the Indian tracks as well as Red Lady Too, Party Seacombe, and Ski-ing. Part of it was recorded in London with the Remo Four as well as Eric Clapton and Ringo Starr.
✨I always try to listen to Waterloo Sunset on Friday nights✨
😀I love the Kinks too! (Just like the Beatles and Stones and Who too)✨It is always hard for me to make a list 'cos I love all their songs- I have to say Days is my fav. #1✨
@@patlampo9288 I also love The Rolling Stones & The Who, 60’s bands are the best :)
I was 8 in 1966 and those cartoons were my introduction the Fabs. I loved them. You're right also that there weren't any bad Beatle songs. They just didn't know how to make them.
I haven't been since 2012, so seeing this has made me realise I MUST go back! A great video and I hope you enjoyed it there.
@@Russellclark-bo6ji Thank you! I’m so glad
😃Love to have those

Nice video. I would like to visit if it wasn't so far away.
The Beatles . . . putting the 'ono' in 'monopoly'. Roll the dice - did I land on some laughs? Or go to jail?
Nice Video, the next time your back add 27 Charles street in Mayfair, the house leads to hays mews, and the Beattles would escape from the back when fans gathered outside lol. John lennon was said to have painted on the kitchen tiles and they wrote music in this house. It was the manager Brians first house...and now it belongs to meeeee! lol
My top songs are Circle Sky (1996), Writing Wrongs, Pleasant Valley Sunday, The Girl I Knew Somewhere, Porpoise Song, Daily Nightly, Words, Star Collector, Love Is Only Sleeping, Valleri, Can You Dig It?, Regional Girl, Looking For The Good Times, You and I (1969).
