When I first started watching Critical Role in February of 2018, it didn’t take me long to start taking notes while I watched, writing down the episode and timestamp of moments I loved, of moments that made me wheeze with laughter. This compilation is some (not all) of those moments that I took the time to write down.

This simultaneously shows the genius of Sam and Travis, and highlights the importance of the "straight man" in your party. I don't think most DMs would be able to handle a full party for Sam and Travis, but it works so well when you have serious players to play off of.

The funny/fucked up thing was Sam had spent time telling everyone he was thinking about taking a break to spend more time with his family so everyone thought Scanlan's departure was Sam's way of announcing it so no one questioned it that he stuck around. Right up until Matt introduced Tary no one but Sam and Matt knew what was coming. Which is why everyone was pissed look

Part of me thinks that this is an improv game done for actors... True, it wasn't perfect, but how quick to go with the "affirmative response" then "negative response" and finally the "maybe response"... And to see it through to the very end... If it is a "theater improv game" somebody tell me which one... I need to know!!!
@@billstephens396 late reply but there are exercises we do in theatre in my experience often that practice group cohesion/reaction time. One of my favorites is ‘zip zap zop’ where everyone stands in a circle. The first person says zip at someone, that person says zap at another, saying zop and back to zip. The goal is to not mess up and go as fast as possible.
Marisha and Tal seem to do this often
the twins saying what, Marisha and Taliesin drunkenly in sync, and anytime grog and pike were around each other is just a testament to good friendship

Second campaign, Sam had to lie to a guard and matt (laughingly) asked him to roll deception, sam rolled a 0

While everyone was rolling, he explained how he rolled a 2, but minus 2 to charisma equals a zero.😂😂

I'm very much pleased that Sherri Baby is the second scene in the video. I wasn't really laughing as much as I was impressed when it happened, honestly. The singing is very well done, and the force of personality behind it is awesome, in the literal sense of the word. All while being pretty hilarious. No wonder Sherri got flustered. Scanlan really is the ideal figure of the charismatic/womanizing bard, in my opinion.
Edit: And everyone (specially Travis and Taliesin) joining in the song and harmonizing makes it even better! Man, I miss C1.

His metagaming and especially his trying to steal the spotlight constantly was getting worse as time went on, so I imagine it would have become really bad. It's a shame. He could have been part of something great, but he wanted to be the great thing all on his own.

I love that Laura is trying to stay in character and be angry at Sam, but Travis is just too funny and cracks her up. Right when Trinket says that it was Scanlan that gave him the meatball, Vex looks over and glares at Scanlan, but just busts out laughing as Travis keeps going with Trinket's sentence.
The outhouse scene just shows what great players the two of them are. After a slow kinda awkward moment with vex the two break the tension amazingly, while still having an important scene with Craven edge. Taking the weight off Matt. Beautiful
It's been a while since I can recall Scanlon/Sam laughing his ass off. Usually he's the one who causes that kind of laughter from the others and he tries to stay as straight-faced as possible through it (usually to get ready for his next funny assault). But that last bit with Trinket was one of the few times I've seen Sam lose it himself and not be able to respond right away lol
half of it is the pressure not from vex but from laura herself and the other half is him trying to decide which answer is funnier and then not being able to before completely breaking down

I just love the dynamic of the group in that Matt is trying to get this party to go somewhere in a fairly straightforward manner. And then stops everything for a fair bit of time, for absolute off the wall antics. From sneaking into each others rooms in the night, to a horrid night of sketchy interruptions, Matt goes from, "Right, you make your way with haste", to "Okay, Grog role for dex to see just how big of a pile of shit you leave." Oh this is great.
Sam singing "Sherry" kills me every. single. time. It makes me happy without fail, and then I end up singing it for hours after the fact. It's such a brilliant moment.
No wonder Laura kept forgetting about Sprinkle. She didn't have a life-sized stuffed weasel like she did for Trinket
Campaign 2 does have funny moments, but campaign 1 had my cheeks hurting with so many hilarious moments. I'm so glad you included Scanlan's Trinket murder. That was fabulous.

To this day I can't believe the musical timing when scanlan breaks percy's gun
I pray to the gods above and below that actual dialogue from the game is used in the Animated Series. More than just catchphrases like "Dagger, Dagger, Dagger" or "We're basically gods". That whole scene where Scanlan tries to sneak a bullet out of Percy's gun is amazing.
Percy: "Scanlan, give me the other gun."
Scanlan: "... Oh, its right there on the floor."
Percy: "The **other** gun Scanlan."
Scanlan: "You were talking to something out there man! it was scary, I'm a little man!"

This video is what finally convinced me to watch Critical Role. It’s been so funny to come across the bits in the actual episodes and learn the bizarre full context: 37:31 took place in the Fire Plane; at 5:11 everyone was disguised as Percy and his sister; 1:03:31 immediately followed returning from chatting with a GOD.
In other words, I love this show and I love this video.

Ok, so: I started watching CR last month, and I'm pretty sure that every single episode have at least one or two great scenes
I love that you went though all that and there are so many of my favs. Like Craven Edge and Grog. Grog's kinda rivalry with Vax. Vax being a complete disaster but always up for a joke especially with Vex. Vex being sometimes kinda hopeless about so many things but having so much fun with the others. Percy's shade. Keyleth's awkwardness. Pike's sometimes confusion about what is going on. Scanlan's songs. Just... I sometimes miss them. Not as in that I want them to be back. Just like remembering fun times with friends or reading your fav book for the first time. Man. Good times.
