I converted a down blanket into a top quilt, but a little simpler. I folded it length wise so the edges overlap about 6 inches. Then I used a large needle and some waxed poly thread (like the kind in shoe or leather craft) and looped the bottom edge every 2 inches around the foot end. Then I pulled the waxed thread tight and tied it off. This closed in the bottom of my top quilt. Then I added a couple loops of thread 3 times (every 6 inches x 3) and the foot box works fine in my hammock.
