  • Comedian Nikki Glaser candidly shares how a tragic death her senior year in high school was the start of years of various eating disorders, including anorexia and bulimia. Glaser recalls losing nearly 60 lbs. in four months and is joined by her father EJ Glaser as they both remember when the disorder nearly turned deadly. EJ remembers getting metaphorically “smacked in the face” with the severity of it all while Nikki recalls a feeling of relief once a doctor forced her and the family to address the issue. Plus, the Netflix and Comedy Central star talks of her steps towards recovery and a commitment to eat three meals per day.

Nikki has many issues.... some of it is what makes her such a great comedian... but it sounds like she's dealing with them one at a time.

It's good to hear people talk about disordered eating. I went through issues with food for years. I was shocked when my mother admitted her own issues with food that lasted several decades. I never knew.

Nikki summed it up when she said, "I didnt eat much for just a few days because I was nervous then someone said You look good! What have you been doing?" Most all eating disorders are a dysfunctional need to gain attention and social status. The eating disorder is almost always a symptom of an underlying psychiatric disorder. She didn't say that in her explanation which is not going to help others struggling with the problem

Chris just showed a photo of what pj did to save nikkers. Yes he ate a fucking nuke. Not fun but worth it. He said he would do it again. Only small jumps left, pj already did all the big ones. That means be brave again, Nikki. --Dad

Why do you think this has anything to do with logic? Furthermore, I think it might be harmful to look at this as a gender-specific issue. Everybody go through struggles. Anybody may experience mental distress/illness. A disordered mind won't discriminate, nor does it care to use logic. If it did, we could "logic our way out" of psychological issues. How easy that would be!
