@@zorrozorro42 Did you see all of Haas' season last year! I believe FOM made every team give full access for 1 race during the year after seeing how many new fans it brought. The only thing they can't show are technical secrets.
I gotta say, that was properly exciting to watch. That would have been one of those races where nobody would have cared who actually won because the midfield action was so much better. I do wish you had the replay footage though.
I love vintage racing content. Love it. Imagine a modern game based on a classic year like GPL or Nascar Legends. Imagine if Codies made a full game based on the 1990 season for instance. Please? Putting this out there.
My favorite layout will still be the one from the 80s and 90s with the chicane on the norht and south straights, before they got rid of the forest entirely. The cars allowed for enormous top speeds, the chicances made for huge braking zones with lots of overtaking.
I think one of the things that makes you so watchable is that it's not you half a lap in front of everyone else - settings allow all of us to do that, but the dicing about on the last lap is what makes your vids so much fun to watch. Stick with eighth chap, it's winning in a different way!
If it makes you feel better, it just shows how good your favorite is. When he and his team is off, it is one of the few times the race for the lead is good. Take it form a Haas fan. Im Jealous AF
I totally agree with you. I really miss the old (slightly younger) Hockenheim, it used to be one of my favorite tracks because it had everything including that awesome straight.
Danny The straights weren’t that interesting. They put a couple of chicanes in during the 1970s, the back one being a bit like Ascari at Monza. The real gonzo part of the old Hockenheim was the Ostkurve. In this car it’s not that quick but by 1980, ground effects cars with full skirts were in fourth gear and pulling 3+ G through there. It was very fast and incredibly dangerous and they finally put another chicane in after Patrick Depailler was killed there in an Alfa Romeo 179. Derek Warwick once said of the Ostkurve, “Get that right and you come out of it like a dog wagging two tails!” Motorbikes were amazing there too. I remember Daryl Beattie winning an absolute thriller there in 1993 and Troy Corser’s monumental crash at the Ostkurve a few years later. The bikes didn’t need the Ostkurve chicane.
The old layout is unique and just better. Maybe not this specific one, but the last version with the chicanes was one of the best tracks in F1. It’s not like the current engines would have issues with the long straights either, especially after they added China and Baku
Keep making these wrong predictions Jimmy the Racing in real life yesterday was pure greatness. Whoo I loved that race last night at a Hockenheim. 😊🏎❤️👊
I don't usually comment on videos but Jimmy you do have some unique commentary and you make impressive videos which are entertaining to watch. You remind me of Murray walker in a lot of ways. I have a huge passion for cars as I'm s petrol head but just don't possess the ability to be a good host or streamer. My communications skills aren't too great. But then again I could try... I dunno.🤔
First of all jimmer, amazing prediction. 10/10!! As for the sense of speed, well it might seem odd but ever since i got into VR, VR videos make more of an impression on me. As in, I can see how it would look in VR and get that sense of speed out.
I'm old enough to remember the true Hockenheimring too and it was an insane, gorgeous track. And as insane as it was, F1 moved there since 1977 because it was MUCH less dangerous than racing on the Nordschleife: at least, if a driver crashed and still was alive rescue could arrive on time to save him...
Rest in peace Jim Clark, OBE, farmer, world champion motor racing driver, Lotus 49 pilot, Indy 500 winner, Tasman champion, died 32 years of age at Hockenheim 7 April 1968.
Your comment about liking the old circuit and missing circuits of this ilk was exactly the same as I was thinking as I watched Ted Kravitz’s piece on Sky F1. The modern, bland circuits (by comparison) don’t have individuality. It is a part of F1 that is sorely missed today.
That version of the Hockenheimring was insanely dangerous. The version with added chicanes as driven in the late 90s was way more interesting than the present track. I miss it but there won't be a Grand Prix of Germany next year anyway.
this just in: Jimmer proves that the commentator's curse is so powerful as to effect F1 race outcomes even when irl race prediction made by Esports commentator... i'm also old af so i too miss the old Hockenheim layout
Didn't realize this was the VERY historic Hockenheim before the chicanes in the forest section of the track. I was waiting and waiting for the first chicane to come up. Very long straights indeed. Chicanes or no chicanes, I miss the old Hockenheim track with the forest section. Damn shame what happened to that track in my opinion.
Honestly, this is very similar to GP Legends mods in the early 2000s. Except there they had better race events, flagmen, and they properly modeled the driver gloves and suits.
Wow, really old Hockenheim before the chicanes. Did you use the default Lotus 49 and Ferraris or were they from the GP Legends mod? I feel a challenge coming, between Bamble Wanglebork and Richie Axelson...
Good Day for Honda , bad Day for Mercedes Benz. . You should be glad that the GP 69 mod has no simulation mode for how Fragile Lotus cars were . Brake failures were common closely follow by Gearboxes . There are lots of great Lotus driver stories out their from the Colin Chapman Era , Yeap Jim Clark died in minor F2 race after his tire deflated and came off the rim , Colin took his loss very heavily , and once he saw how the tire had come off he almost over night designed a securing system to stop the tires rolling off the rim even after a deflation . Clark was a great talent he would have been sure to have won more Championship had he lived . You remember this track back in the V10 era , I can go all the way back to the 80's this place was always an engine killer even when they changed the layout in the 80's and 90's I think the car were running at a constant 70 or 80 throttle for the lap , on the long straight the brake would loose to much temperature to work correctly certain gears would be over stressed by the long straights . It was always the best race to see Turbo cars go up in flames . I miss even the 90's version , but fair enough they had agreed on a date that the loop through the woods would be returned to it nateral state , and so the old loop is now only to be found in games like AC or GTR Series .it's is also a blast with 60/70's sports cars and prototypes from the likes of the GTL mod and the Sports car Prototype mode .
Imagine making a prediction so wrong that you end up upsetting the F1 gods and they just fuck stuff up to mess with me.
