I've always been struck by the thoughtfulness that comes through in Fred Gwynne's voice.
I was six in 1976. And I reallyremember the Bi-centennial because it was such a big, year long celebration. Advertisers went nuts! There were American Flags everywhere. On pens, pencils, cups, plates, blankets, ashtrays, cars, trucks, street signs, lunch boxes, cereal boxes, cans of soup, mugs, billboards, visors, sun glasses, toys, shoes, school supplies, towel sets, baseball caps, team uniforms, keychains, hair clips, jackets, sweaters, jogging pants, oven mitts, pot holders, belts, sweatshirts, milk cartons, welcome mats, cup holders, magnets, stickers, beer cans, beach towels, beach balls, and then came the celebrity TV specials, commercials and fireworks too....all the time non-stop. It was a big deal! I got really sick of seeing red, white and blue on EVERYTHING. 🤣😂🤣 Thanks for bringing back the memories!
I was in the parade as Tom Sawyer on the 4th at nine years old and had to stop half way because the asphalt was burning my feet.
I was 7, that was a great year!
@@williamrogers. You had to be entirely barefoot, no flipflops? I wish we could go back so I could rig you up some not very noticeable foot protection.
And now the United States is without a Southern Boarder and the colors have changed to red, white and green.
Thanks so much for this excellent collection of CBSRMT episodes combined with super graphics and the informative review of what the episode is about and the first run and rerun dates. I’m a member of the CBSRMT group on FB and just posted a review of this collection. I’m also glad and impressed with the sound quality and that the original ads are still there. GREAT JOB!! Thank you so much!
Oh no not ads! Can't they be all be at the end for the people who appreciate them? Great story again. Thanks.
🤣
the adverts have got a certain aura to them, like a time before time
Goodnight from Derby, England x
Thanks for this, and all the others.
Oh those 8track tape days 1976 good radio show 1974-1979
my time machine to 1976
I can bet no one will wanna travel back to 2018
Well, actually...
My sentiments exactly! If you could stay in a time loop that rebooted at 1980 you'd live in very happy times compared to the dumpster fire we got now!
@@0therun1t21 Hmmm... Well, considering how many people want to wallow in Third Reich memorabilia and endless books about it, I imagine there'll always be a morbid fringe that can't get enough of our nastiest moments in history.
Another terrifically good drama by Elspeth Eric. I guessed the solution early on but that's only because I've seen it before when director-screenwriter Alejandro Amenabar revisited the theme in his 2001 film The Others, with different characters and plot but the same riddle. I liked it but I like this earlier treatment by EE better, now that I've seen it.
I see that there are a few, & sometimes, several, different videos of the same episode. Just wondering if the ones
w/a longer playing time may have a commercial or two?
predictable with a logical misstep - but Lois Nettleton's graceful soulful performance makes it all worthwhile - except for the misstep - writer Elspeth Eric deserves plaudits
I should have known this was another Elspeth Eric script. Ugh!
EE's radio plays ALWAYS deserve plaudits. Of all CBSRMT's fine writers, to my taste she's the best.
I WAS NINE!!! 🙋♂️
Same 🇬🇧
Thanks
Sounds like Howard De Silver.
Good story but the commercials were too much
P
Love hearing the ol' "PEWIC" (buick) commercials. Such a crappy car and so glad I no longer have to work on them.😁
What made them a crappy car?
We're they unreliable?
