  • This is just a short PART 1 of 2 video to show you all our New Hydroponic Tomato and Pepper house, and how we are setting up this New system we are trying. Sorry if it seems rushed through, but we just have so much to do today! We will be doing an update as soon as we plant, so we will explain everything to you at that time. ie. hydroponic system, nutrients, stringing etc....
    Now that my laptop and camera are cooperating, we will be doing a video on our other greenhouses tomorrow and throughout the following weeks.
    My fingers are crossed (our internet is absolutely horrible) I really nead to find a better internet provider) It's beyond frustrating, when I could be putting videos out each week! It takes a minimum of 4 - 6 hours for a 4 minute video! ( DO YOU SEE MY FRUSTRATION?)
    ENJOY!
    Here are the links to the greenhouse supplier (tried and true) and cubes and slab medium we are using.

      Check out MHPGardener. He is in Louisiana, I believe. Grows Tomatoes year round. It might be the variety, too many leaves or not enough air flow. Keep learning, you’ll get it figured out. Another resource is your local Ag Extension Office.

      Spring Hill, I was replying to “workwillfreeyou’s comment about struggling with tomatoes in Arkansas. The MHGardener is in the humid south, and so I thought his variety of Tomatoes may favor that humidity better than what you grow in Canada. Although Pink Lady seems to be a greenhouse staple just about every where.

    We have enjoyed following you for a few years and have a particular interest in hydroponics. I have been growing hydroponic vegetables on a small scale since 1980. Interestingly, we have been using 6-11-31 and 15.5-0-0 from the same source as you since 2015 for all of our growing. We start all veggies in Oasis cubes and switch to dutch buckets for tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Lettuce, spinach, other greens and herbs go in our NFT system.
    I am curious to know if you plan to use the same nutrient combo for this new project.
    If you have the same experience as we did, you will not regret growing tomatoes and peppers hydroponically. Our yields are massive and same goes for our English cucumbers. We are retired and enjoying it in New Lowell ON. Looking forward to your next video. Keep up the great work!

    The only problem I see with hydroponic tomatoes and peppers is they have no or very little taste to them, how do you plan to combat that issue? Can you replace minerals and such with liquid fertilizer?

    Hi, great work you guys and great videos. You put so much time into these videos and we all learn so much from your efforts. Thank you!.
    I would understand if you don't have time to answer these Questions but I will ask just the same.
    I have a question about setting up the greenhouse and the beds with regards to sun orientation. What do you guys think is the best direction for maximum exposure to sun and do you focus on morning sun or length of time in the sun? I question how our beds should be set up if we don't have a choice in the direction of our greenhouse. We are from central BC Canada so similar climate as you. So Beds East to West or North to south? My concern is the plants being in another plants shadow?
    Thanks again for all your work on these vids!

    • @Growwiththelaplantes
      @Growwiththelaplantes  4 года назад +1

      Thank you so much!
      We have greenhouses positioned both East/west and North /south. However, the East / west positioned greenhouses do much better. There is alot less shading of plants..

    I've been doing the dutch buckets and hydroton clay balls in my greenhouse. I'm happy to see someone doing it a different way that will document it from the start to finish so I can learn the pros and cons of the system. I would like to learn more about the bags you will be planting into and why the need for the double rockwool cubes. Right now I start my seeds in cotton balls then move them to the dutch buckets when they get there second set of leaves. I'm lazy and getting the hydroton clay balls cleaned up for the next planting takes a few hours. I'm also cheep so cost will and time will be the deciding factors in what I do. Can't wait for the next video. Thanks for sharing how you do things with us.
