This is the END for the Clippers...

  • In the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Clippers fell to the Dallas Mavericks in six games. James Harden and Paul George had good performances here and there but really struggled in the final games, Kawhi Leonard was again injured and hardly played in the first round, many of the supporting guys like Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell had ups and downs, and they even held Luka Doncic somewhat in check, yet still couldn't get the job done. It was a disappointing loss and an ending that has become fairly common with Clippers teams in this era. They've only made one conference finals since the Paul George trade, a deal in which they gave the Oklahoma City Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, and have still failed to make an NBA Finals while the Los Angeles Lakers have won one in the same city over that timespan. It feels like the Clippers have run out of tries, can't stay healthy, their stars can walk and are regressing even if they stay, this feels like it was their last shot and they failed. Let's talk about it.

    To say it’s the end implies that the Clippers ever had something going. Realistically, it was over when they blew the 3-1 series lead to Denver. The years after have just been the decline.

    It’s ironic the Clippers could have SGA to build around and instead they decided to go all in on PG and Kawhi.
    Five years later they showed no results and the Thunder pretty much built their team because of the Paul George trade.
    It’s over even if they bring everyone back. All of them are in their mid thirties and are in the late stages of their careers.
    The west has gotten tougher with these upcoming team like Minnesota Denver Dallas OKC.
    You got the Kings and Pelicans that are good teams. Memphis is going to make a comeback with Ja returning and don’t forget Wemby and the Spurs and my rockets.
    If I was Ballmer I would start the rebuild but he won’t because he needs to sell tickets for the new stadium they going to be playing in next year.

      In the end Paul George is to blame. He wants out and he chokes. Kawhi is to blame for the trade but to be realistic it would of been impossible but I guess Paul George force his way out and Westbrook leave making Sam Presti demand all them picks and Shai.
      Because it's a PG trade. It's on him to prove he worth that much. In the end Paul George is a fraud and should hold accountable.

    I was mad for Clippers fans. Seeing both Kyrie and Luka diving on the ground, and putting their bodies on the line every single time. Compared to some players on the Clippers who have absolutely no heart or pride.
    Theyre entitled and lazy. There are fast food workers that work harder and care more than someone like James Harden. They earn every penny of their minimum wage pay checks. Some of that hard earned money is spent supporting their favorite team and players. Youre telling me you cant be bothered to hustle? Im glad my Mavs won. I just feel for Clipper fans

      @sammyslam1 Месяц назад +1

      Yea i was rooting for The Clippers to advance and it was concerning how they played in games 5 and 6.
      I don't have much complaints about games 2 and 3 because they were trying to incorporate Kawhi into the mix.
      To me that was more on their head coach.
      Kawhi should have been a reserve in those two games as to not disrupt the flow of PG and Harden who played well in game 1.
      Games 5 and 6 were the distressing games but especially game 5
      Even if you lose at home to a good team like The Mavs it can't be a demoralizing 30 pt loss where everyone just looks completely uninspired to fight for their home crowd fans.
      Congrats to The Mavs and their fans!
      Kyrie Irving was sensational and Derek Lively was a big time difference maker.

      I agree 100% on your Kawhi point! That's on Ty Lue. I'm interested to see what this Clippers team looks like over the next few years. It makes me glad I'm not a GM. Those are some tough choices.

    cone you bring this up alot and it frustrates me a little bit, you seem to think that teams with no control of their draft picks should just trade everything away. if you don't own your own picks theres literally no point in blowing it up because then youre just bad, no young players, and you have to stay like that for years. GMs aren't gonna do that bc that'll cost them their jobs. Youve also said this with the nets. And to be fair you usually do recognize this, but i feel like it makes more sense for the teams with no picks and mediocre rosters to delay the inevitable. I still love you tho great vid

    Extremely good video. You didn't screw up perspectives or facts like other channels do. And yes , as a Clipper fan (albeit casual...I follow but don't emotionally invest in sports anymore), this is a tough issue to face and you could see it a mile away several years ago. Buying superstars instead of developing them is really risky. I would much rather try to scout and draft/acquire young talent and develop it than try to buy aging stars. At least if you fail on the first style, you can keep trying with reasonable success. The latter style is swinging for the fences and in turn you get immense pressure internally and externally. I'm hoping they let PG go and just wallow in mediocrity until they can find young talent. Kawhi is pretty awesome when he's not hurt. Passive P is pretty fake and inconsistent. Kawhi should have picked a better star or just let SGA develop...but hindsight is 20/20...PG talked a great game but we see the fraud now.

      Plus okc had other teams interested in them as well one of them being the raptors which included pg so kawhi could have stayed in Toronto the trade was for pg and kawhi not just pg, without pg their no kawhi and th clippers was not about to wait years until shai blossom because it took about 4 years until he became the player he is now

    @awethinic8379 Месяц назад +1

    Well I can say that a planned attack might give them a chance next year. First a player that can play off the bounce can fix a lot. Move some of the weight. Harden can play off ball like he did in okc. Pg is just too inconsistent so dump him and get a roll player. Russell will play better with more playing time. Sit Leonard every other night and ready at playoff time. But getting a player that can dribble drive pass is the key.

    Clippers are the definition of insanity at this point. The pieces are old and not getting any healthier. Harden and PG are chokers in the playoffs. They are thoroughly stuck though, but they should blow it up and go young and pull that bandaid off in one swift go. I admire them for giving it a go though, it was a great opportunity for them, but it is time to face the music and admit that it didn't work out... It happens. Even without their own picks they need young legs they can rely on.
