XC Paragliding Flight | HOW TO Fly Cross Country With A Beginner Paraglider | XC Tips

- If you ever wondered if is possible to go on a XC flight with a EN-A Paraglider, watch this! In this video I show you HOW TO fly cross country with a beginner wing and what are the things you should do and pay attention to.
I am extremely happy to share with you my XC experience. Not just that I managed to reach my destination, but I found the thermals to fly back to the landing area. I flew an FAI triangle without noticing. The most important aspect of flying xc with a beginner wing, is to climb on the thermal as high as you can and leave it with a comfortable altitude. Just stay relaxed and let the wind carry you!

Excited to share with you my awesome XC flight. Usually pilots don't really go cross country with an EN-A Glider but I know is possible for even longer distances than the one I reached in this video. Watch the video entirely, as I explain how to do it and share with you some tips. Enjoy!
Excited to experience same joy on my first XC, long way though.
Well done, man. Happy to know you were excited on your first XC 😎. The feeling is indeed amazing. I still fly and love every second of it. Enjoy your flights and wish you many more long xc experiences 😁
Nice commentary
.great camera. I could hear your enthusiasm! Really enjoyed vicariously your flight.
Thank you, it's nice to hear that you enjoyed it. I was very happy and enthusiastic about the flight. I have a couple of flights that I am sure you would enjoy as well. 😉
Nice one. Keep it going. There are records to break on an a wing!
I will try my best 😉. Thank you for the comment
That will be difficult, there are FAI triangles over 200km with A wings ;)
good for u bro ... i,m keep learning from ur video, big thanks ya...
Thank you, man. I appreciate that. I've got a bunch more videos about paragliding if you like to check then out. Take care and happy flights 👍
Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate that. Thank you so much. Happy to know you enjoyed it. 👍🏼
@@Dvybz I fly an EN A and I cant wait for my first XC flights. Nice to know what's possible
@@johnoutside84 really nice to know, dude. You will definitely have a lot of fun. Much more than that it's possible. I had also 20+ xc Kilometer flights, you just need the right weather and some experience. Have fun 😎
Awesome flight brother but I'm begging you not to use the speed bar and the brakes at the same time. That's a sure way to get a frontal collapse. I understand that EN-A gliders have a long break input but it's still dangerous. Happy flying my man. 👊
@@abseil76 got you man, thanks for the advice. At that time I was not that experienced. Happy flights to you too😉
@@Dvybz My man, I have to apologise. I didn't even notice I was replying to a 4 year old video. 😂😂 I'm sure you are smashing it now while being as safe as possible.
@@abseil76 haha, no problem man. Everything cool. Now I definitely have more experience 😅. Have some crazy beautiful flights under my belt 😄
Awesome. Keep it up :-)
i'll give you a tip since this is a xc tips vid.
when accelerated on speed bar, don't fly with your breaks on since this is contra productive and makes no sense to slow down the glider when you want to go fast.
I knew this is what some people might think. My glider has long breaking way. That means the first 10 cm are not breaking the wing at all, it is barely on contact. But definitely you are right, I did that mistake in the past. Thanks for your advice 👍
Very good one
@@Dvybz I will reinforce Marek tip on accelerator and no brake. I'll add that the initial slack line of 10cm you mention are reduced while on bar. I will not get into details now on that.
Therefore when accelerated, put your hands up. I suggest that you pilot on the C's. Grab the C risers on the pulley intersection. Don't let go of the risers. You will not loose performance. Once you get used to it, you'll mostly pilot that way, unless it's turbulent.
Another important tip is to let go of the risers while piloting with the brakes. You have a tendency to use your thumb to hold on to the risers. If you have a collapse you will need to do certain inputs to help recover (read, view videos, practice during groundhandling and do SIVs). If you hold on to the risers your mind will give you a false sense of safety (holding on to something). You will need to do the correct inputs quickly. So you need to get those skills in advance. I know it's an A glider but they also collapse. Knowing the right thing to do Is always a good, and will help you improve your confidence and skills.
@@zakit Oh, I read everything you said. I got you. Meanwhile I got used to not hold myself on the risers no more, nor do I have any tendencies left to do so 😅. I also stopped braking my wing while accelerating it. Thanks for the advice, man.
Brakes + speed bar is a bad habit - if you do that on a high performance wing, it will blow up spectacularly! (trust me on that one - I've self destructed my Enzo on full bar, just trying to scratch my nose with bake in hand - self-induced SIV, chuckle).
At 2:28 of course you are not going fast, you have speed bar and brakes pulled half way.
And dont use 100% speed bar on EN A wing during transitions. It make it go down too fast.
Yeah, I noticed this when I edited the video. You are especially right about the 100% speed bar. Just wanted to test the limits and see what is capable of. My brakes have a long way. It might seem as if I pull a lot of break but actually was almost no brake at all. Anyway, I learned out of my mistakes 😁. Thanks for the comment 👍
Nice video bud!
Never use brakes for steering while you're on speed bar. It is like asking for trouble your wing could collapse due to the low angle of attack on the bent aerofoil shape.
Instead of brakes always use C/D/Rear risers depending on the glider you have got.
Love your videos! Keep posting.tc!
Nice flying man :-)
Try go feel more relaxed and let go of the risers :-)
Hey man, I am happy you like the flight. I know I held the riser a lot at times. The reason is not because I am not relaxed or that I am afraid.... is just a bad habit or sometimes I am just doing it for comfort. Nowadays I am holding the risers much less and I am actively trying to not do it anymore at all. Thanks for pointing it out 😄✌. I will do so in the future (this video is 1 year old)
What was the movie?😋
Great flight btw, it's always fun to watch your vids.
It was hobbs and shaw, fast and furious 😅. I am happy to hear that you enjoy the vids. I'll keep them coming.
Nice flying 😁
You just increased EN-A Glider sales-lol
You might be right :) I think once you can fly XC with EN-A glider, is going to be easier with a B, C or D wing
😁😁
Nice one ! Have you the link of your Ayvri trace ? just to see your beautiful area !

Here you go, buddy. Enjoy
Awesome flight ! Someone jealous and disliked lol.
I appreciate that, man. Thanks a lot. It was a very beautiful flight.
He chose a movie instead of flying in perfect conditions...🤔...who does that?!?..🤔.
Hey my friend, I promised somebody that I'll go together with them to the cinema 😅. But don't worry man, I achieved that day what I wanted to accomplish, so everything is ok. Thank you 👍

2:29 what is that application do you use? in the bottom right
That is called a vario. Is like a gps but for flying. It shows me all kind of important information. The speed that I have, height, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction and a bunch more 😁
@@Dvybz and how you can get that visualization? did you use some mobile apps while doing xc?
@@yantiherni7426 is called ayvri.com. A site where you can upload the file from the vario and you are getting a visual track like the one you saw.
@@Dvybz ok thanks a lot, thats help me so much as beginner pilot
