  • We put the City hybrid to the test on the Gentings hillclimb. Power delivery depends on the state of electrical charge left in the battery, because it can contribute an additional 29 horsepower to the car. The DCT does contribute to the fun of driving.

    Owning a Honda City Hybrid 2018, the rating will be 8/10. The electric motor really helps a lot. I can just step the acceleration pedal and enjoy the ride and performance (not in sport mode). With sport mode, the ride and performance got even more fun. But the fabric seats are not really comfortable for a long journey with the family. Honda City hybrid will be more suitable for a couple or single. Secondly, the radio player cannot do anything & without a CD player slot. Lastly & sadly, it did not come with LED headlights and spoiler with integrated brake light.

      Good feedback: I suppose Honda is trying to package the product to keep the cost affordable.
      One day we will have a market where people can tick what they want and order a car, and this will happen as the market matures. It's a question of who dares or wants to make the first effort. I am surprised it has not happened yet here because it is already done like that in many places.

    Joseph, can ask why u prefer hyundai Ionic rather than city hybrid if u can choose again btw them?
    By the way City Hybrid drives extremely quiet on EV and normal mode. BUT when in sport mode, it roared badly, mainly due to sport mode prolonged its high rpm prior to shifting to the next gear.
    Honda spent 2 years in Malaysian road and developed this iDCD sport hybrid system, add in extra suspension. Thus should technically handled better than normal city.
    The cons though, no spare tyre, no 6 airbags, no LED front light and no leather seats.

    did you use S mode when climbing? perhaps with using the paddle shift on manual S mode would help a lot. Also, the level of EV charge plays important role. prior to climb the hill, ensure the EV level is at least 4 and above. Because when you are left with 1 bar, then the car starts to struggle a bit. When you have ZERO level, then you are pretty much in deep s***t (System error & car will move in decreased performance mode) and need to park at the road side to let the EV charge manually up to 3 bars or more then only can start moving again. Overall, to drive honda city hybrid requires you to be smart in managing the EV mode; knowing when to use EV and when to not use it. Just my 2 cents.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  5 лет назад +2

  • @sequentialtt0415

    The whine is all contributed to the direct injection system on that particular engine,known as the Honda L15B1 Earth Dreams. The American and Internation versions of the Honda Jazz/Fit are equipped with that particular engine and it produces 22hp more than the SOHC iVTEC L15Z1/Z6 that we get here in Malaysia/Thailand/Indonesia and many other ASEAN countries. The engine is otherwise noisy but it is way more punchy than the SOHC model. Wonder why ASEAN countries are not made available with that engine.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  5 лет назад +3

      I believe it depends on the state of charge in the battery. As I began the run the battery level may have been depleted. On the way back it was much better, as can be seen in the video.
      I looked back to the HR-V run on the same road : the HR-V has a more powerful engine, and a similar transmission. Not sure if the ratios are the same, but the HR-V seemed a lot quieter.
