My bird knows where the toilet is and whenever I head towards it he says “you have to go potty” 😂
That's awesome 😂 I really want a bird of my own. What kind do you have? Was looking at White Cockatoo
Doug Swink if its your first time, i wouldnt get a cockatoo
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Doug Swink yeah I wouldn’t recommend a cockatoo for your first bird, I would recommend a budgie or a cockatiel! I have both and I have an amazing experience with them, if you want any tips you are more than welcome to ask! :)
Lol what if somebody was over and they said that 😂
This video started like a news report just silence
Schnitts I loved that, made me laugh.
Schnitts lol
Lol
Lol
fax hun fax
My bird saw that I clean her poo with a paper towel so if she ever sees a piece she goes and poos on it
What type of bird??
I rescued a pigeon years ago I found him on the streets of Dublin kids put an elastic band on the wing so it fell off from loss of blood supply poor bird still dreams of flying but he thinks he is a parrot he's gas with the cats who were kittens when we got him, he jumps on our huge Tom cat who lies back to let the pattot/pigeon Do his little I've attached you moves then scrapers so the cat can chase him when new ppl see them they think the cats about to eat the bird it gets rough but I've never seen dextors nails out ..I should try catch it on film but there sly about it sneaking to the kitchen when no one's looking for a role in the hay
This is really great info!
As a parent of 6 children and now a parent of feather babies it’s interesting how similar some of the techniques are in some cases.
There’s a method of potty training young babies called elimination communication. You start right after birth. You pay attention to your baby’s cues that they show before eliminating. Then when they begin to show they are ready you hold them over a toilet or potty chair and say whatever words you use for peepee or poopy.
This method is used all over the world.
I had a friend who wanted to do this to save money on diapers and it only lasted 2 days before my friend said it was too much cleaning up the poop
I’ve been watching so many of your videos lately, they’re so useful !! I’m planning on getting a cockatiel in the near future, I’m watching so many videos to be prepared and I really love everything you do, keep going !! :D
I am too planning...
But I was warned by wife about poop...
This video comes for help...👍
Same
Same
Same! I'm going to foster one first to see if that goes well, only problem is I have cat's, wish me luck!
Every hour? Lucky! Mine goes every 10-15 mins😝
Ivy Munro mine 2
you might wanna use a schedule when giving birds food. some birds get so spoiled that they eat 24 hours even when not hungry and as a result they poop too soon and all times.
I have been told to remove my birds food for specific times to limit some birds from overeating.
also, if your bird is so bored he would find only food to entertain even when not hungry. to limit this problem you should give him other activities to perform and other games to play and not making food everything to the bird.
That's what I've always heard that no matter what breed the bird is they go poop every 15 minutes on the money but apparently she knows so maybe I'm wrong and heard birds do stretch it out an hour at a time
Asma Y that is interesting like ppl do with their dogs
Mine too it pool on my head!!!
Lol that’s how I taught my dog except for actual talking 😂
I swear you're the human equivalent of a cookbook that tells a story thoughout the recipe
come on barbie, lets go potty ... ahh ahh ahh ahh )
hahaha XD
Андрей Иванов 😭🤣😭🤣
Loooooooooollll
Hoo yeah! Hoo yeah!
This is so random lmao
This is great! I've been doing it with my 10 week old conure, and he's catching on very well. Thank you!!
I have a Green Cheek Conure 10 weeks he is practically potty training himself. Amazing little bird.

Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else is searching for parrot trainer try Pycanta Parrot Tips Protocol (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
I'm starting to potty train my sun conure, its hard to keep track of the time though! Thanks for all the good advice
People that attack other ppl online are trolls and have many more issues than whatever they’re barking about plz pay them no mind what they say means nothing....thank you for all your hard work and dedication and advocation, I learn a lot from you every video, you’re awesome and your birds are beautiful too!
I've been training my Alexandrine Rocky with the word "toilet" and he does it pretty well. He does the poopy dance so I can feel when he needs it.
0:00 that silence tho
Euxly I know right lol
She is just making sure that the ppl watching hear
I enjoy watching your birds' body language when their vent is about to get busy!
Thank you for the information. I wish you were around 18 years ago. I would have learned so much from you about my 18 year old mustache parrot named Mookie. He is bilingual and such a talker. I was shock when you said Picasso doesn't talk. I love love my Mookie. Everytime, I see Picasso, It's like seeing Mookie. Bless your Picasso. He is too cute...
OMG your birds are so cute, it was so funny when your birds claw got stuck in your hair. 🤣
Awe look at you with Picasso. Before Picasso cane into the vidio I really thought this was a new post.
And another WOW, I cannot believe how many years I have followed you and your life with your precious flock family.

Thank you Marlene for the tips. I got to bring Agadore Anna Darling home today!! So excited! Hope to run into you again at the bird store 🦜🙏🏻✨
People make fun if this vital isse...
Shame on them...
If the birds can fly, or the cage is close enough, can they take themselves to potty or do you have to carry them every time?
Asking because I want a budgie and these dudes poop every 15 minutes
You have to clean up after budgies. Their poops are smaller so it's not a big deal. Just make sure to clean it up
Grate advice I’m getting a bird soon so this is a very good advice
Great info! I figured this out by trial and error and initially it was tough not to react negatively when my lovebird would go on me, and he obviously didn’t know what to do if I got upset so I watched him and would set him down occasionally to see if he would go. Once he went I praised him and picked him up, and I would approximate the time when he was likely to need to go, setting him down and telling him to poop, then praising and picking him up once he went. It was hit or miss to start off, however he learned fairly quickly and so it’s been great since then. The biggest challenge is to try and do this when he’s on my shoulder since I can’t see when he goes and I get preoccupied and forget to set him down.
I had a Halfmoon Conure for 26 years that pooped only 2-3 times per day. Potty training really wasn't even necessary with her.
However the Blue Crown I have now must poo every 10 minutes. It's completely insane how much and how often this one poops!
0:00 and 0:03 she just stood there
who else misses the old marlene not in a bad way just the old clumsy you tuber :) we love u!!!
AHH THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST HELPFUL VIDEO I'VE SEEN SO FAR
I have a Vinny named Lorenzo. Let's Vent - When Lorenzo did bird doo while playing with my husband, husband would say in a bird voice "mom had to poop", which was my clue to come clean up the bird doo. At the same time, I was working on training Lorenzo to fly to the swing perch over the kitchen sink to take care of business while out of the cage. The smart bird combined both efforts and started flying to the swing perch over the sink, doing his business and squawking 'mom, had to poop'. Not thrilled with my galah vocalizing, 'mom, had to poop' each time bird doo occurred, we change up the language... now it is 'vent mom vent'. Both husband and bird use this phrase to notify me of bird doo occurrences. While engaged out of his cage, the swing perch over the sink is always the favorite to retreat to for venting and singing 'vent mom vent', unless in direct play with my husband, wherever it occurs is 'fun' for both, as they each call out to me 'vent mom vent'. I come with the wipe and clean up the droppings, they 'giggle' and continue their play together, the rest of the time venting and squawking 'vent mom vent' takes place over the sink.
@Marlene Mc'Cohen, if it was not for you, I would have never guessed birds could be potty trained. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Omg Picasso! Please come home! This video immediately made me sad!
Great information! Just like potty training a child. Common sense, but I had to have someone let me know it's not that different than a child! Thank you for sharing this great information with us!
I've watched so many of your videos and this question has been bugging me 'How do they not crap all over the house!??!' Thanks so much for clearing this up. The issue has prevented me from having any more birds, so maybe I can manage this training too!! namaste
Thank you for all the informations that you gave us with your videos ! All your videos (old and new) give us good tools to treat birds like they deserved ! Hope you will be for long on RUclips !! Xx
Great video Marlene! Jersey is looking like a Molukken cockatoo with her red feather, hahaha....
Right!! she looks so pretty!
I really want a bird I don't indeed cleaning up after it but I am a little nervous since I live in an apartment an have 1 tween and a toddler that the mess could be too much this helped a lot knowing that I dont have to worry about poop everywhere if I train properly
wow ..lovely video..very informative. ..the white busy parrot in the background is so cute.
Why does Marlene not have millions of subs
life of Maverick the sun conure IKR??? She is AMAZING!! And so funny! Love George and Genna too!
Ikr
I’m not a first time bird owner but anyways I’m getting my baby Hahn’s Macaw in around January and am really preparing extra for her. I’m getting a brand new cage, new toys, brand new diet etc... Your videos pretty much help me organize on what to do when I get her. Thanks!
Nice
I have my Quaker potty trained, she was easy, just took her every 20 mins, sometimes she goes sometimes I have to look for clues, if she starts to go I say don't potty on me and she won't she will wait until I take her, which Is right away, it nice not having to worry about getting pooped on. Hoping soon she will start telling me!
Thank you for valuable info on 🦜’s , owners, and to people who don’t understand bird life, but appreciate opportunity to learn! Marlene, you should be proud of the positive production y’all collaborate on. Well done 💙💛💚💜❤️🧡 🌹
Why not teach the bird to fly to the cage when it need to potty if it can fly?
Millennial Mogwai they poop while flying
Elina Tsadourian They do?
I wanted to know how to teach them like a cat. To teach them to where to take a shit when they need
But my canary used to return to the cage for potty
Vargas Fanel Thats good
Positive reinforcement:) the best training method for humans and animals alike
Great video! I am getting my first Sun Conure and this was something I was wondering about!! She comes home in about a month or so when she is completely weaned! So ecstatic!
I have aparrot like your's named Robin and his age is 1 month. I am surprised that I did not train him potty. But he do not potty on me rather he wait for a paper to potty.
Crazy bird lady!! Yay I have a bird sister!
You do!! Come see our new video
She said ur bird might walk back and forth, and that's a clue for potty. That's my dog's clue for when wanting to go potty. Lol
Young kids does that too
Not to flex but my son beetle (a red throated conure), picked up on potty training in less than an hour. He’s a champ. It’s actually pretty easy.
Very appealing & great information, win, win. Thanks...
I miss you Picasso :(
Very informative
good video marlene, jesey,, is so pretty. and you are so nice , like your shirt to xx
Learn to observe the bird's behavior just before they poop; this means you have to watch your bird closely when it gets close to the time that he's due to poop. If you see them start to squat, say something to slightly stop them, get them to 'up' and sit them on a perch or cage door. Then let them poop while saying whatever word you want them to understand as meaning poop. We used 'poop' because it's not a common word said. 'sh*t' isn't good, because someone might say it while the bird is on your shoulder, and well, you know what will happen. We didn't use potty because it sounds like body and our friend's name Dotty. It takes a while. but it will be worth it to have a bird that won't be pooping on you all the time. After a while, your bird will poop on command, as well as say it just before he does it, so you also have a warning if he's sitting on you as to what's coming.
So helpful!! Thank you for sharing :) Love it when you guys post
I felt attached last night, so I've been looking for my bird for ages, I finally found a great breeder here cos let's face it there's not many birds in Ireland, so I found a breeder laying started end of January I've searched for a rescue I offered to fly parrot rescue ppl to Ireland but all said I was two far away to be able to help.. And I've been hurt thinking young birds were home alone all day with no toys, it was upsetting and there was no birds it was an attempt at the shipping scam, not something I'd fall for as I've spoke to the best brid transport company in the world and he was prepared to help me get these rescues to Ireland... So excited I'd finally found a breeder for next season chick, and all I got was that's mean try rescue like it wasn't the first thing I tried, plus I live between Ireland and Bulgaria, I need a bird who can get used to long car trips so any birds I take care of will need papers to travel between the 2, I've a little farm there. But I just love that ppl assume that I didn't try that rirst.. So I did think I'd have to stick with the blue and gold and I wouldn't have minded but I've been offered a harlaquin cgick not even laid yet if this is my bird it will happen if the university has a better plan that wil happen first
Very, very HELPFUL !! Parrots are thee BEST.
Been waiting to hear how to do this! Thanks!
Where did you get those chains and ropes? I need to get some for my GW Macaw. He loves those plastic chains.
The chains and ropes are from Home Depot. When you go in there they will cut them for you however long you want them.
I just posted a video on cockatiels, essentially the video was about pros vs cons and just common things with them. I'm linking this in the description because I don't know much about potty training myself and I knew you were the best person to explain ^^
enjoyed this thanks. this is pretty much exactly like house training a puppy. I should not really be surprised!
Very cute parrot
❤ thank you for the encouragement. Usually my girl won’t poop on me but my boy, he so will!! They are almost 4 month old tiels and starting to really develop unique personalities so it’s time to work on the deuce deuce training.
A practical video with very sensible teaching. Great!
Jersey is so cute :-)
Thanks for the tips!
thank you for sharing this
I just read the same thing about potty training in one of the books I got to get ready for a 25yo B&G rescue that I am adopting. I want to be prepared for her.
My bird is a baby rainbow lorikeet, I need to potty train him, I never had a bird before, his name is Sky, we love him very much. Do I need a high stand with a tray underneath it? What treats can I give a 2 months old Lori ? Thanks
I had no clue they potty that frequently! If Marlene is able to potty train her flock and keep her sanity that should give hope to all bird owners struggling with potty training.
Thanks for sharing gonna get my mom a bird very helpful info 🙂
Marlene your tips really help..... I am glad I found u
I'm so glad I found you
very great video, thank you
You're my Inspiration and I love you
I heard some people say potty training is bad bc if you are not there to tell the bird to go potty it will keep it in and can cause infection?
Can someone please tell me if this is true or not
butiful and very nice
The cockatoo looks bald (plucking it's feathers) and birds don't usually pluck their feathers like that unless their depressed.
My little girl loves your shirt
Great “potty” training tip. Pretty much like training the dog or a child. 🦜💩💩💩
Your clearly devoted to your birds and love them very much! But how do you feel about your cockatoo living in misery? Has this occurred to you?
I used to put my sun conure away from me and that was my cue for her to go potty. Just another way I do it. =)
smaller parrots are a little more complicated I think.... like, budgies and cockatiels have very fast metabolisms, and poop every 10-15 minutes or so. Unfortunately I’ve just come to deal with the accidents whenever they happen, it’s so frequent that I sometimes think my birds don’t even notice when they poop 😂
Same concept for puppy training. I can do this lol
This video makes me want to get a bird companion. :)
That freeze in the bbegginnig like😆
hi i seen this vid and had to click it and it helps so much
Hey !!!!! great videos . Looks like jersey has grown a lot of feathers comparing to the previous videos . Hope to see him soon with full feathers
those are cute birds, I was wondering if your house would be full of bird droppings everywhere. I didn't know you could train them in that regard.
AWESOME VIDEO!!!! My bird is somewhat but not fully and this will HELP FOR SURE!!!!
You help me so much!!!
Thanks
I love your videos and I am from Slovenia
THANKS
I have a green cheek conure and he has a huge biting issue with little kids and my family members and he is extremely territorial when someone comes to me or near me he starts going crazy and charges at them what do I need to do
he may be jealous of other people coming near you. treat him for a good behaviour when your freinds are near.
first try to let him do any trick he knows with a presence of another person, BUT that person should not be your attention. Let the bird feel like he is still your attention.
After he does the trick treat him and let the other person get closer to you little.
Then ask the bird to do tricks again and treat him again.
after a while ask the bird to initiate something with that person (ANY EASY TASK like taking a toy from that person or so on)
this way you train your bird to interact and behave with others.
NOTE, you only need the bird to initiate NOT the person as if the bird would not be ready, he might take a nigative reaction.
with time passing the bird would learn better.
Jacob Hileman look I have had the same problem to where I wanted to get rid of my bird. My bird loves and go crazy for millet treats. I would take the treat and show him and slowly put it in the cage while holding it but my fingers are out of the way and slowly move my other hand to him or I would put my finger on the opening of the cage and stick the treat in the cage yo where he can reach ot and slowly move the treat to where he will soon have to step on my finger to get to the treat and eventually he calmed down
U should really try to socialize ur bird
I had a maroon bellied conure who did the same. he use to fly after visitors to bite them, also he was very nippy.
It's actually a conure trait they are very not a group bird if they are hand reared
So helpful thank you! Also I have a cockatiel and we have a ladder going up the cage door and my bird walks up it and uses the potty in their it's really cool! But we did get it as a small baby just coming off hand feeding.🐉🐲🐥🐤
Aren't you afraid they might swallow or choke on the beads?
I was looking for a bird, and I wanted to do my research first and your videos really help alot, I mean alot alot 🙂
Absolutely fantastic n fabulous tips, thanks so much
What she said at 2:06 is exactly wat I did right now well now I know not to do it I’m already learning thx 😅😅😅
Picasso! He needs to come back! 😭😢
