  • We decided instead of searching for weeks for a non rotted radiator support or spending thousands on a mint one ready to bolt in, we would repair ours. Only one side needed extensive repair and for a fraction of the cost it was worth it!

    Watching your videos is EXTREMELY inspirational to me ! I have 3 68 442's , 2 of them are W-30's. The rust repair you are doing is the same that I need to attack. I really like the way you go after this with the most basic of tools, NOTHING FANCY !! You sir are giving me the inspiration to tackle mine. I would REALLY like to talk with you one on one about your knowledge on the W cars with what knowledge I have .

    Good job! A core support is a part we took for granted for a long time. All the junkyard 69's have long ago been turned into Toyota's so finding a nice donor part is tough.

      @theautorefinery  Месяц назад +2

      Thank You. You're not even kidding. I have personally thrown away core supports better than this one over the years. Heck I've even sold and/or donated ones that I would be happy to save and keep in stock now!!
      Thanks for watching and for playing along.
      Have a Happy Labor Day.

    That core support tells the same story as my car!!!
    W-Machine, 1969, OAI, 3.42 gears, and there is so much detail, the seals, the olive coloured clips holding the tar cloth? shrouds, all the electrical, hod release with the small white bushing, headlight buckets, so much to get right!!!
    My core support went for sandblast and powder coat and didn’t have any rust at all :-) (no “black-smith-er-ie” needed :-))

      @theautorefinery Hey, good morning. This is Rob ( guy with the same color 442 as Mr. Jones) I have a few heavily rusted 69 core supports. I repaired one using a core support from a 70 Olds 98 & sectioned pieces. Another time, I hacked up a 71 core support to repair a 69. I agree with you. They are outrageous in price.

    I make short section an inches wide just like channel shape you got as there which is MUCH easier than a long one I take it to the metal fab guys the guy who does the bends duplucates my shape just like it in no time for 16 and heavier its so worth it for a great patch.Hes done replacement rocker parts for me by same method they got the long expensive huge brake I will never own.
