imo, Toaru is one of those series where it doesn't really matter who's stronger than who because the fights are tactical enough where it really just comes down to who gets the upper hand first or finds a opening. Granted, there are times where a fight is won through brute force but I think a majority of the fights are won through outsmarting the opponent.
Power scaling has always been weird since some fights are actually based on match ups not because the other character was more powerful.
The author has a fetish for making strong characters to be as weak as posible, so there is times where the main villain is fighting the front, the rear, and the backstage at the same time, and not because they can't be beaten without it, but because is the only way to beat them without killing them.

Again I think using CRC one-shotting Alice as a feat is extremely unfair, considering she literally let it happen, refusing to fight back to the point the Narration mentions this she didn't do it out of fear, but because Touma leaving her broke her emotionally.
As for the Transcendents, they're mostly hype. They have done nothing to remotely live up to their hype and do quite the opposite.
It's safe to say that the strongest character at the end of the series is going to be one of the most insane characters ever in terms of power

I honestly think that Aiwass with a vessel would be the strongest character, as he is stated to be able to destroy phases, which is something even the most powerful characters have no influence on, and return the world to its state without the existence of magic. I think it is safe to assume that Anna, Transcendants and Imagine Breaker are also some instances of "magic", so a full power Aiwass would theoretically get rid of them too
Well the Curtana was said in NT22R to be able to kill Awiass if they user knew where to aim, I think a lot of this comes down to how the power is applied, Knowledge, and Hax.
Anna killing Awiass might have more to do with her knowledge as an Abyss Crosser than just her raw power.
Magic Gods have lots of Raw Power but don't seem to have as deep occult knowledge as say Corozon would could revive Dion Fortune.
Basically Abyss Crossers or Beings that Have Secret Chief Knowledge can break the magic equivalent of the Second Law of Thermodynamics, while Magic Gods can't but can break the first Law and just Create shit, in NT9 Othinus needed Imagine Breaker to peel off the phases she could create, even though adding more phase layers was easy.
In NT22 The Magic Gods told Hamazura that fixing Dion would be like unscrambling an Egg, Othinus shrunk stated that when she creates the world with phases it like a crystal growing and she isn't aware of literally everything in the world, True Gremlin couldn't get rid of Saint Germain because no matter how many phases they added, he would appear.
I think its like reloading a new world on Minecraft and hoping for a result, perhaps the only way to get rid of St Germain would have been to radically change the seed conditions in a way that would alter the rest of the world too much. (Which they were trying to avoid until they could find a "scorer".)
Beings like Corozon, Awiass, Secret Chiefs, Accelerator, Anna, Aleister etc have been granted knowledge to affect the world in a more profound way in exchange for less raw power output.
Also the Transcendents can only fight the entire magic side under certain conditions, they basically min max an OP magic technique and use that hax, but in terms of raw power might be weaker than a lot of other top tier human magic side users in a straight fight. Also other magic side characters have been stated with similar power, Carissa with the Curtana was stated to match her all the way in OT one would need an Angel or a Magic God, so the transcendents might be weaker than even Angels.
Honestly Only Transcendents I think are super OP might be Anna and Alice.
It's similar to the hype when the Golden Dawn showed up at the end of NT but only Mathers was in the same league as Aleister and the rest of the Golden was OP compared to most magicians but much weaker. (Dion Fortune had a run for her money from Kanzaki in NT22R but Aleister stomped her and Knight Leader, and likely Mathers would have as well.)

This was the statement. Aiwass only given as an example for someone that exists in a different phase.
Aiwass is from da'at which literally means in terms of knowledge and existence he is above Magic gods.
Transcendents are situational and matchup based. Only Alice is the one that can be among the strongest.

The thing about complicating the tier list is more about how Kamachi doesn't allow characters to just die near Touma(with a few exceptions), so he makes them powerful enought to be a threat but also vulnerable enought to be left alive with no real risk. Well, if a risk exist, he can just use one of the dozen of options he still has to limitate, nerf and counter those invincible beings with the power of a miracle-synch cooperation.
By the way, trascendents seems to be at God right seat level power, below Fiamma, but above Terra, and what makes them powerful is more about how they actually know how Imagine Breaker works, so they doesn't go for a direct clash. To me, Aleister is the strongest by how he handles everything and acts when necessary. Even the author had to put him a limit on his/her body about the magic recoil just to avoid him becoming an unstoppable force, but as we see in NT22, he is pretty durable.
The fun thing is that in NT Kihara Kagun does mention multiple times that Touma is a safe zone due to him attracting the misfortune of people like a lightning rod so people not really dying around him has its canon reasons 😂 but holy hell do they get killed easily when hes not around...

As Mr.Popo once said to Goku in Dragon Ball, "No matter how strong you get, you'll always find stronger than you." I wouldn't be surprised if someone who could stomp a full powered magic god gets to appear.
I'll say this again, if we can manage to get aeon hit 50k subs, he will make a toaru timeline video that includes the main series, canon spin offs, and lore.
For me, it's Anna springle (yes I'm misspelling) but to be honest only othinus with Gungnier show 11D feat and we just compare her to other character who supposed to be more powerful than her like other magic god(prime), Aiwass(prime) or Anna and maybe Alice.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Anna Kingsford considering that Anna Sprengel (spelled it wrong) lowkey had a mental breakdown fighting her and literally ran away in fear. Plus Kingsford utterly annihilated Sprengel and went toe to toe against Aiwass.

@@zeehero7280 If a vector exists, Accelerator can manipulate it. And apparently, if it doesn't exist, Accelerator can _still_ manipulate it because imaginary vectors let him control the vectors of things with no vectors.
I'm still going to say whatever is inside Touma is the most powerful but not how you would think the most powerful would work. In NT22R Touma's powers were said to be like medicine to the world so if we were to look at it from a medical standpoint, Touma's powers are Antibiotics that slay infections to the world itself. So let's say a powerful being said I'm going to destroy the world (note not recreate it like the Magic Gods) this power would then come in (as long as Touma is alive, there is no invisible lock and his arm is cut off) to kill that being regardless of how powerful they are as they are a threat natural cycle of the Universe itself. We know from the Railgun editor that one of Touma's Dragons' fangs contains the undiluted concept of poison so it's not a far stretch to say one could take that poison and turn it into all kinds of medicine for the world such as anti-venom.

I love that Index have so much OP characters, yeah in fact is difficult to determine the more stronger (but probably Magic Gods at full power)
Not that having op character is a sign of a good series, but I love all of the power system and the particulars power that characters have
When touma say your not living your life correctly you know he's gonna beat the shit out of everyone
Three points I wanna make:
*I could see the Transcendents rivaling Magic Gods circumstantially. Not only was the case made in the book and Kamachi said they could kill Othinua, but I could ses arguments being made for how some of them could do it. Mut-Thebes is the most obvious in my opinion since all she would need to do is absorb the tools Aleister used to do this, which she could multiply. Triple Reload could give Aradis a similar advantage if used right. And of course Alice. Though I don't know about some of the others. The Magic Gods don't seem Omniscient or else they would've known about Aleister. So as much as I know this gets thrown around a lot, I do think some of the Transcendents we've net could win with prep time. Without it, they're screwed.
*I do think the Secret Chiefs will probably be the current strongests when they show up (not in that they'll be the strongest at the time, but that they'll be the strongest up to that point). This is both due to how real world figures described them (no, I don't think they're real, but beliefs about them will most likely be accounted for by Kamachi) and the implications of what Aiwass would be capable of at full power.
*The stronger we get in powerscaling (which we probably will because of Shounen and how the series has been so far), I think we'll continue to see characters nerfed or not using their full power except on rare occasions like NT9. This is because if they were, the story should realistically end quickly and the fights would be very difficult. Plus, it makes it interesting to see these super OP characters giving our heroes a rough time but in a more manageable way like GT2. Toaru isn't like Naruto. Many cast members, with exception, are nerfed over time to make OP enemies even harder to fight and so there's an even larger power gap against Anna than there'd be if some of the other OP characters weren't locked up or nerfed. Just my view though. But also, as many others say, in Index, weaker characters can beat stronger characters with the right strategy and power levels can fluctuate.
Edit: I think Anna could kill Aiwass at full power because NT implied she was tied to multiple Secret Chiefs, which is unconfirmed but if it was the case, might have changed, since GT only implies she's tied to Aiwass currently.
My top 10 (just my opinions):
1. Touma (with his true power) - based on hype, but also feats and statements
2. Full power Aiwass/Secret Chiefs - Reasons I said above
3. Probably CRC - Has OP Time Viewing Magic according to NT22R and knowledge from Sages, as well as being stronger than Kingsford and seemingly all the Transcendents.
4. Alice - Reality Warper manipulating the Sephiroth directly and tied to a Secret Chief, feeling no pain and summoning OP Wonderland creatures, as well as able to unintentionally alter other planets without even trying.
5. Anna Kingsford (Probably stronger before dying) - Able to use OP Magic to separate people from the rest of space and time and is able to tap into planetary power without using spells.
6. Full power Anna Sprengel - Possibly once tied to multiple Secret Chiefs and could've easily killed one.
7. Clonoth Accelerator - Based on feats and implications
8. Full power Coronzon (possibly far higher)
9. Full power Magic Gods (Probably far higher)
10. Other Transcendents (Circumstantially higher)
(Aleister and Mathers aren't even on my Top 10 anymore, crazy).
My largest problem with index is how kamachi made accelerator the strongest esper so he was the limit of power on the science side, while the magic side could just introduce stronger and stronger characters. I get why this happened as touma needs someone stronger to punch in the next volume, but I think they could have said there were stronger espers or gemstones that the dark side hid so they could keep introducing new and stronger espers so we can have more espers in high level fights rather than accelerator being the only useful esper against these stronger magicians.
Honestly. Science side is handicapped. Only way for magic to get dented is by some miracle of Kamachi’s work.
Maybe a new affiliated side. Magitek?
I prefer not. Its time for touma to learn and unleash true power of Imagine Breaker. Time for him to take spotlight as one of strongest character. No longer he is called weakest. Time for every academy city residence to see who touma really is. Just like star wars legend turn a simple farmboy to the most powerful legendary jedi grand master.
I'm not saying handicap touma (as if he was ever handicapped) but put find a way to put more powerful scientific characters.

He doesn't want to know what his powers are. He doesn't want to know about magic.
He doesn't want to know how others feel about him or how special he is in the world, or that aleister created the city just for him.
He doesn't want his past memories.
He doesn't want to know what the one who purifies god and slays demons is.
Because he doesn't want the status quo of his "normal" life to change. As KNT said, he doesn't even think about any of it.
As the #6 said he's the kind of guy who worries about homework when a valcano is about to destroy the city.
He doesn't want to think about the big picture. He doesn't want to be important. But he also can't ignore whatever happens in front of him, and is so determined, charismatic, and resourceful he ends up making the whole world bend to his will anyway. He can't keep doing this forever.
He has to face the reality of what and who he is, and that his life was never normal, and that it's not gonna stay the same. He needs a harsh wake-up call to finally bare his fangs and stop running.

@@asthal69 And that's the biggest problem touma always has... he never want to learn or training with his IB. Well, maybe he want to learn about IB when he faced terra. But that's it. He did nothing more.
Touma was very special rare case person in academy city. He was one of the few, or the only one who never has interest in esper power(and magic when he met index). Many people come to academy city to become esper, become level 5, become 'special'. But not Touma. He just want normal life and yet he life in academy city, city of espers. He should just go to school outside academy city. But he couldnt, because he wield IB and Aleister need it. And has been waiting for long time for IB return.
But he better learn and training with IB as fast as possible. As readers of index LN know how many time touma 'almost' death in GT. Every opponent at least can destroy the earth as easy as stomping ants or do reality wrapping. Level 5 have become obsolete by the time of GT(or even NT). He couldn't depend on them when they are powerless facing trancesdence and their 'big boss' is coming... or he will become like luke when he skip episode 4 n 5, straight ahead to episode 6. Facing palpatine and vader with no training. Maybe touma little interest with IB and esper powers because of what happen in the past. I hope kamachi sensei start to begin writing about touma past arc. Almost every character have got their own past arc, but touma.

I know who my favorite is, Accelerator #1 with Touma a very, very close 2nd. I have to say with the constant power creep, changes in what is going on with the story line, circumstances always changing depending on who and what is going on, no can truthfully say who is most powerful. Under the right conditions and circumstances, anyone can become the "Most Powerful." Everything is opinion based and we all know about the saying of opinions and assholes lol.
There is no cosmic all seeing / all equalizing force out there but one and that is Kamachi Kazuma. In the end only he can decide who truly beats all and he would have to be the one to set that up with all the conditions and stars aligning to make that be the "Most Powerful." Once he does that, ( which I doubt he really ever would) it will become cannon and then we can all put that to bed and rest.
But then you realize that in the whole *Kamachi-verse* (which we can consider as composite) is that the *White Queen* from *Blood Sign* is considered the strongest Kamachi's character due to her being stronger than the Full Powered Magic God Othinus

I am not delve into index lore after first parts, where strongest character was 5 level Accelerator and Alister was just a mastermind who just setting things up
And i have a questions to those who still read series
How did plot handles characters that can end their own world with sneeze? Does it have any stakes that still feels matter or its pure power-fantasy now? Why their world is still not nuked?
The universe technically has been destroyed and remade a few thousand times, and Touma and allies occasionally get outright stomped.
Only reason the world is still around is because some characters died, some got nerfed, some are friends and others got stopped before they could do it.
As for being a power fantasy, I'd say no. Touma gets through most of the plot with just IB. Raw power is rarely a deciding factor in these fights but rather IQ, power type and knowledge.
I don't think Accelerator was the strongest level 5 . Speaking only of the vector manipulation that is his original power, I believe that Gunha has not yet shown how far his powers go, Kakine in his prime is very powerful and if Taktsubo who is a candidate for lv5 became a lv5, maybe she would be the one esper more powerful because its powers mess with the AIM. About your question, I think cosmology helps to deal with OP characters. And Index's cosmology is so well crafted that in my opinion, they manage to balance things out and not make Index a full powercreep show. For even the most powerful characters have limits of what they can do in the plot. And what they do doesn't shake the entire cosmology that hasn't been fully explored yet.
uf there's going to be an omnipotent God in To aru I think it'll probably have something to do with Imagine Breaker, Imagine Breaker kinda op in it's own rights it nullifies almost all powers in the series and if it's reveal that it's only a fraction of it's whole then that being will probably the most op thing in the series
Considering how the op the holy right is I will say Fiamma but the holy right has limitations like it cannot work on the magic gods

Listen Aeon this depends on a lot of variables on strongest. I love Accelerator and Touma, however their not at the top but definitely top 15-10 strongest.
If we’re talking potential then it’s literally Aiwass. If Aiwass with an avatar can actually overpower all the magic gods at once even at their full power, the. Aiwass is unstoppable. Again this same Aiwass intentionally lost Coronzon during their fight in Windowless Building.
Currently in the LN, it can go either for magic gods, transcendents or secret chiefs. If the transcendents can only rival only human magic side and not the gods themselves then their at the bottom. The magic gods are second place since their feats are pretty self explanatory. Now I believe the secret chiefs are at top, cause if their higher existence is beyond dimensions and similar to Aiwass then their higher. Again we need more info on the chiefs.
I really want Kamachi to establish on the characters potential and true power on full display instead of random statements.
CRC maybe the strongest knocked out all the transcendents with ease, both Anna’s and Aleister seem to think they can’t beat him alone. So CRC might low tier magic god status. Again we need more info.
If you ask me its the True Magic Gods, i mean they are called TRUE Magic GODS for a reason
so we should tackle this question with the Tree of Sefirot/Sephirah (עץ הספירה. Sfira/Sphirah- not Sefirot/Sephirah. I blame those damned alchemists for their pronunciation. It's technically the tree of counting as it is used to count the hierarchy between beings.) Kether is usually classified as the level of a god. So anyone under it is too weak to enter the list.
Aside from my short tangent. Dragons, angels, and level 6s have been regarded as the same level. Above them there are gods, so to make the strongest list, you need to discard anyone under god level, not including Touma because the number of dragons and unknowns in his hand can easily bring him to the level of god, or above it. He is said to be the one above god. So maybe he breaks the tree.
Magic gods are on the level of a god. That's an easy one.
I think secret chiefs are on the level of a god, because like with the phases that the magic gods create and magicians draw their power from, transcendents draw their power from secret chiefs. So secret chiefs are supposed to be equal to magic gods.
Aiwaz was classified as a dragon, but I assume that that's because he is in an aetherial state like Kazakiri who's at the level of an angel, and that in his full form is a god.
Aradia is said to be the god of witches, so I'll take it by their word.
Alice is only a transcendent, so I think that except if she can rise to the rank of a magic god or secret chief, she won't be classified as a god, so she is not strong enough (Don't look at me, blame the tree).
Cronozon is not at the bottom of the tree, so she doesn't qualify as whatever is the direct opposite of god and so is not strong enough as a demon to compare with the other characters on the list.
Christian Rosenkreuz I would put in god level for now, since he is supposedly OP.
And lastly (I think and hope so) Aleister who was said to be able to ascend to the level of a god but chose not to. Since Aleister can still contest with gods I will put him on that level too.
Edit: Aogami is at the top of the list because Toaru is a Japanese series and he is the only Kami to appear.

What has Aiwass done that puts him this high? *spoilers I guess* Both Annas just straight up beat him, Coronzon ties him while hes amped. Also the True Magic Gods are also Nr 1 since their existence at full power is to much for the universe to handle, which automatically makes everyone that exists within the boundaries of the world weaker than them.
Me I think the strongest character is obviously big blue Aihana Ets-I mean Aogami Pierce the Fetish Lord of Toaru I mean with the amount of Fetishes he has he has to be the strongest in the series.
Just like in Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] anime where Gilgamesh (the strongest Servant according to most people in community) fight someone like Shirou (who just recently activated his Reality Marble called Unlimited Blade Works) and he literally lost to Shirou because of his own arrogance (Unlimited Blade Works also acts as some sort of counter to Gilgamesh's Gate Of Babylon).
You know more about Index then me so I would not begin to name all the over powered characters in the Index franchise 😅. But off the top of my head I'd say that the Magic Gods would be like the most powerful characters, because they are by their nature Gods they can create whole universes and destroy them. So that's where I would start as the most over powered characters in Index.
I've met characters who can destroy planets in Dragonball Z, GT and Super before Index and Railgun

I don't personally think there will be a most powerful character. For example let's say one of the magic gods defeated everyone except Accelerator because of his reflection and he defeated them because of his ability. He would still be weaker than the magic gods but his ability would be above the magic gods or able to defeat them do to the origins if there vectors in which Accelerator could use to use there power against them. Now pretty sure that's not how it would work.
Well it worked against kakine but he was weaker than Accelerator at the time. So we don't know if Accelerator traced the vectors of the magic gods back to there origins if he could control there power and use it against them.
Or we could have Touma defeat everyone with his right hand only to be one shot by a character significantly weaker than a magic god.
But if I bad to choose it would be Index. Sure she doesn't seem strong but if she figured out how to use all the grimore's or became a magic god I believe she would surpass the other magic gods. Reason the shows name even though it doesn't show her as much. It's possible that Index could secretly be the strongest character but she isn't a fighter and rather eat then get hurt. But question is what would happen if index had no choice but to fight.

I think toaru strongest character NOT depends at power level. because we(LN readers) all know by the time toaru GT, almost opponent touma has faced, strong enought to blow the world within 2 seconds or event wrapping/changing reality. Even accelerator abilities to counter everything as long he can understand counter measure won't matter anymore. Because there are many things in toaru universe that beyond human understanding. Like imagine breaker for example. Thats why accelerator got problem fighting oppenent beyond human comprehension, just what happen at NT climax.
Rather than accelerator who can even counter a galaxy thrown at him, its better having reality changing/wrapping abilities like alice or magic gods. Just like thanos and his infinte gauntlet. They could kill accelerator easily by making earth and everyone else disappear from reality and accelerator become stranded at space with no oxygen, no food, no sister network, dll..
So strongest character from toaru universe can be seen by how great extraordinary abilites those charaters posses. The more nonsense ability a character has, the more higher his/her ranking in strongest toaru list.
Btw, i forgot about to comment this at your previous video about how accelerator handle army of trascendence at next index LN. The most foolish thing accelerator to do is making level 5 or other espers to fight trancendence. Because mostly espers have no knowledge regarding magic and Level 5 have become obsolete by the time of GT. Just like what happen at GT vol 2 when two level 5 fighting one trascendence. Like seeing two ants fighting jurassic era apec predators.

1- Dragon touma can easily be argued above magic gods from nt14. Othinus crushed one of the weakest forms of IT, and touma himself crushed it in ot22. Also Touma was stronger than CRC. His only chance to win was to run, and touma wasted power protecting the world.
2- Anna Kingsford was way weaker than CRC regardless. He used Alice for fun. She couldn't get past the space barrier.
3- Alice was able to kill CRC only due to sneak attack because another of her magics lets her expose someone's true nature. Which is kryptonite to transcendents.
4- Accelerator is a bit below the transcendents, with Sprengal not thinking of him as a threat.
Sorry but Kamachi statement of Alice distorting the world reference poin (Imagine Breaker) already put her as one of the strongest character in the series

A thing which bothers me with Aliester is the fact that he has his Spiritual Tripping Blasting Rod, Big Bang Bomb. Which means that a very easy attack which he can do just by waving his hands around is capable of doing damage equivalent to 10 big bangs.
Yet he doesnt use it!
He didnt use it on Coronzon, he didnt use it on Mathers or the Golden Cabal, he didnt use it on Anna Sprengel.
He couldnt defeat Anna Sprengel without using Anna Kingsford! So are we to assume that Anna Sprengel can somehow survive 10 big bangs, or did Kamachi just forget that he wrote that completely overpowered attack and then used in it 1 scene against some wierd jellyfish from NT19 or whatever.
Like the attack is so ridiculously OP that it makes no sense to not... like use it... every time when you want to fully defeat someone.
And its Aliester, its not like he is against killing people or something

The narration points out multiple times that Aliester can't beat the Magic Gods or Coronzon with raw power. So it wouldn't make sense to try it on them. I'm pretty the other character have their own ways around it too iirc.

AAA is a very powerfull raw power weopon designed to kill nerfed magic gods. I mean it does use Aliesters power to do that, but its still clearly way lower in power then 10 big bangs. (which also use Aliesters power)
With Coronzon he kinda just comes up to her and starts to fight. Thats his plan in NT22. He uses spells to fight her. Why doesnt he use his strongest one? Or if you are saying "because he cant beat them with raw power" then why would he be there trying to beat her with raw power?
As for other characters, there are... well.. absolutely no reason why they wouldnt die from the Big Bang Bomb. Exept I guess the Golden Cabal, since they are grimoirs which are indestructable, so they would actually survive 10 big bangs due to their nature (thought he doesnt try it on them even before he learns of this), but every other person who he comes up against (Anna Sprengel, Mut Thebes, CRC) has no such known defences.
TLDR: If "he cant beat them with raw power, which is why it wouldnt make sense for him to attack them with his strongest raw power attack", then why does he attack people with way weaker raw power attacks trying to beat them? Even succeding with some of them like Mut Thebes (he even had to work with fuckin Coronzon of all people to defeat her. He couldv done so way faster and easier with the Big Bang Bomb)

The only reason he fought them in the hidden world, was so he could nerf them later and basically said their magic counters his later on. "Not even Aleister Crowley thought she could drive off a Magic God without the support of a true A.A.A. and without help from Holy Guardian Angel Aiwass. It would be hard to pull off with just the Blasting Rod that strengthened the power of her magic to ten times what the target thought it was."
The AAA doesn't use normal raw power, it uses Aliester's hate as a weapon, so it can't be measured with traditional force.
He outright admits he can't beat her. In the same novel we see him use the Big Bang Bomb, he throws her into the world rejector because he can't beat her. His magic doesn't really help, and its the whole plot of NT22. His plan is to try to use IB to exorcise her, or try to seal her, not destroy her with raw power. *Did that magician know something? Had she put together a plan to defeat Coronzon? That was what Kamijou thought, but he was apparently wrong.

Aliester doesn't get the chance to try on most of the characters on screen, can't really complain about him not using it.

Very different from dragon ball. There's power escalation for particular story arcs, but then immediately goes down like an arc later.
