As someone that lives in San Antonio I'm a huge Pop fan but I think it his time to hang it up and take care of his health and spend some time with his family and I think Mitch Johnson has done a wonderful job
Concerning the starting lineup, I think Keldon and Castle and Champagnie should be our bench stars. Devon needs to be in the starting lineup. Barnes, aka "Mr Reliable", i feel has earned his starting spot. And Sochan has been a beast. SO, i believe our definitive starting 5 should be Paul, Vassel, Barnes, Sochan, Wemby.
Agree. (CP3 - Vassel - Barnes - Sochan - Wemby) seems to be the best starting lineup as it provides the best compromize between offense and defense. (Jones - Castle - Johnson/Champagnie/Mamu for two spots - Collins or Bassey) should be the second unit. Unfortunately Mitch seems not to like Mamu regarding the minutes he is giving him... (I prefer when the Spurs are playing with a taller PF to take some rebounds). But the finishing lineup (Q4) should be CP3 - Castle - Barnes - Sochan - Wemby because Vassel's defense is very questionnable this season and Castle's defense is already almost elite. Defense is so important in the money time. Or Vassel improves his defense very quickly or he won't be able to play the Q4 anymore !! I don't know what happens to the Vassel's defense but in 2022 and 2023, he was just below average. This season, he is just catastrophic... (the three worst defensive rating for the Spurs are Vassel (122.6), Johnson (117.0) and Collins (116.7). It is reflecting why the second unit is taking such negative runs !!!)
I love Pop. I'm glad he's recovering well, guessing he'll be back in the new year. However, Mitch is doing a great job with this team. He's shown he's good enough to be the head coach. Is he now going to sit back and wait until Pop is ready to retire on his own terms? Are we willing to lose Mitch?
I would like to see him back. Been a pop fan since I started watching the NBA. But that said, I think it's also a testing phase for pop. If he still does well (and better than mitch), then by all means go for it. But if the team takes a step back, I'd take it as a sign to retire. I'm sure he wants the team to be at its best too.
there's a range of conditions after getting a mild stroke... while your assessment is right that it seems pop wants to come back this season, i don't think he will finish his contract. he'd the the one who most want the spurs to be at the best situation when he leaves. i see that this mild stroke will hasten the decision a little bit. i hate to say this, but if the team is in good hands, i believe pop will hand over the reigns by the end of this season.
I saw the news and tbh it's not the time for him to get back to coaching the team. He needs to go home and stay there and never come back in a good way. He needs to retire and take care of him and his health
Keep getting better Pop! Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!

Great news and much appreciation for getting this out in video form. GSG
Yes will see you soon Coach pop 😊❤
GO POP GO !!!
Good morning God is great all the time . COACH GOAT.😊
I'm absolutely thrilled that our leader is coming back. This is fantastic :)
Excellent news! I'm just glad he's recovering well. Can't wait to have him back
Pop deserves the right to coach until the wheels fall off. I do like the new coach as his successor. He seems to be pretty knowledgeable
GO SPURS GO.
I guess this means Mamu will finally get minutes again (for some reason Mitch seems to hate playing Mamu)

Happy, if Pop is....come back or not. Salute
Glad he's coming back

Speaking of being back when will Ricky Lombardo and Ron Jambo return as I miss seeing them on this channel
Good question...
I wish him the best but I think he should retire. It's Time!
Time to trade keldon for Sarr.

He has TDS he should just never show his face again
I HOPE HE RETIRES...
😯
Aaaand....uh nooo. Why? Coach Johnson is doing fine. He's a young, win hungry coach with something to prove. Pop is old, already in the HOF. Why??
Retire pop. Become a talking piece for the democrats old man... and let the young men play basketball
