The key is to look for what repeats more than once - everything else is just a language skill.

No matter how much I watch this video I am unable to understand how the * main idea * of the passage is that she was romantic and sentimental. that just doesn't make any sense; yes the passage is describing her character but never does it mention she is romantic ??? Of course if half the answer is wrong then its all wrong. But its not just half; how does foolish indirectness mean sentimental ??? foolish means " unwise " and indirectness means " having the characteristic of lacking a true course toward a goal " so we can understand that foolish indirectness most nearly means that she was unwise and didn't have a specific way to achieve her goal, but sentimental means " of or prompted by feelings of tenderness, sadness, or nostalgia ". I am sorry if this felt a bit not nice, I really don't mean anything bad. I just do not understand how this is a question, and if a question like this with no concrete answer shows on test day I might as well just guess and move on.

I know, this is advanced reading comprehension. Perhaps, you have a narrow understanding of what romantic means. Look up all the definitions of romantic. This may help.

Foolish indirectness here may mean that , for instance ,when a person in love( this case romantic) he/she may acting a bit weird( being full of joys , being satisfied , not understanding what he/she 6:19 does because they are in love). That is not exactly what I mean kinda example. When I first
came across this task firsttime , I was really not understanding what was going why the aswer is D . In such literature passages the authors didn’t use all the words in their normal meaning that we use now ; therefore , we need to predict by the context what authors wants to convey us. Here, as Katya explained , we need to make sure that the answer must be referred to all the passage, and by eliminating method we came to two answers. Next , again using reference( main point ) , we can choose D confidently. Rewatch the video again and u will understand the explanation.

The answer D is weak, but the best out of all the choices.

@@KatyaTutorSAT you never explained how she was romantic

Is this a college board question? D is a very weak answer choice. I don't find any synonyms of romantic and sentimental used to describe the character. Kids - stick to college board practice questions. These are a waste of time. Also, look for restatement of what's in the passage in the answer choice.
