If you can be that sharp and look that good with 89 after a long life of working in the bush, then God is really smiling on you. Thanks for the interview. Godspeed, Mr. Handly.

Did my heart good to watch this and see Pat looking so well. My dad loved him like a brother. I laughed and teared up hearing the story about Dennis leaving my dad sitting next to Pat like a date😂
Dad ran tower on Pat's side for over 20 years as I recall. Forever grateful to Pat for everything he did for my dad. My dad always said he wasn't good for anything until Pat put him to work. I remember when dad had his own truck with Pat and Jim Prestwood. Those were some hungry times! Always trying to get that extra pay load because everything else went back into the trucks.
I remember most of everything Pat talked about, hearing it from dad or living it. In the 80's Pat and Gary were rolling and so were the trucks. It was a boom. Pat and Gary gave a lot of families bread on their table. They also trained up some good loggers. Matt Smith is doing great to this day with his brother B.J. down in Chehalis. Dad used to get calls from all over Washington from guys trying to hire him away from Pat. That would NEVER have happened.
Thanks for this interview. It was really emotional hearing Pat talk about my dad. They spent a good part of their lives side by side day in and day out. When the equipment came back to Buck Mnt. dad painted the yarder, went through it all, and got it ready for the next job. Matt Smith still has that BU84 as far as I know, He sent me a picture of it all painted up and looking as good as dad kept it.

Very good interview Daniel, Pat Handley is somebody that I look up to immensely. He's a very smart & savvy man. Him and I have a lot of the same thought patterns. One could only hope to be a successful and make a mark in the industry like he has.

Daniel, thanks again for doing this. It is so awesome you're doing what you can to capture so much of the history of this area and the people from it. It is so sad that so many of them are gone now. Way to go capturing this history from those that lived it and made it. Not many types of people today can do the stuff this generation did.

I just love these interviews. Reminds me of a guy I used to work for Bill Boak he did a sanka commercial back in the early 80s and if they only knew how much personality he had they would have just made a tv show about him. Anyways great job!

I sure enjoyed this interview. I live in central Washington but grew up in a logging family. 70s 80s earlier 90s. I cut timber with my dad. So I very much understand this man’s way of thinking.
It was tough times. One year you are killing it and the next year you’re just getting by.
I would love to know if this man knows a man in forks by the name of Homer Kesterson.
