In Nigeria we eat them too. My grandfather often grew them on his palm wine (toddy) trees. They always got drunk from the fatty palm sap.
We always fried our sagos with onions. they tasted like a combination of popcorn, peanuts and aromatic fruity cashew because of the toddy trees they fed from.
