    Thanks from Japan 有難う 💛。 This song was played in 11 shows in their US tour (13 concerts + 1 festival) that ended on Nov.1 in Chicago.😍 This MV was filmed at a famous and old stone quarry (Ishikiri-Sanmyaku) located in Ibaraki prefecture, north of Tokyo. Kanami, the lead guitarist, was very scared when she stood near the brink of the cliff but she could defy the fear once cameras started to capture her playing scene. [source : Gekirock News]. Saiki is singing "Hunky Dory" repeatedly. It sounds to me, an aged Japanese, a kind of word play or pun. This phrase is very close to Japanese expression "Honki (本気) Dori (or Tori 撮り)" that means 「本気」= serious, earnest, sincere" and 「撮り」= filming, recording, image capturing". This is cynically suitable 😄 to what influencers do, isn't it? In the rap part Saiki is also singing "Always that one-upping contest, chit-chat chit-chat". "Chit-chat" sounds like "chicchai ちっちゃい" in Japanese. That means "tiny, trivial, frivolous, worthless etc." Miku's lyrics includes a lot of word play and Miku admitted she did it on purpose in an interview [source : Spice Oct.7] "Influencer" was premiered (live debut) on Sep.7 at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo in Band-Maid's pre-US concert. Just so you know, I witnessed it at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿.

    You discovered the magic of Kanami (the lead guitarist). She is a master riff creator and, while she plays solos that serve the song rather than to show off, she plays great, interesting stuff throughout the whole song. She’s relentless… but doesn’t try to overpower her band mates.

    The bassist Misa is a Band-Maid secret weapon.....their lead guitarist Kanami / composer & arranger has said ( playfully) " I give Misa to much love, " Kanami comes up with the ideas & let's Akane the drummer & Misa write their parts....& why not, they are Phenominal !! 💯❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘

    As a big rock fan, I was not excited about the rock bands in the 2000s until I listened to The Warning's album XXI Century in 2017. Then in 2018 found Band-Maid on RUclips, and after hearing the album World Domination, I knew rock was not dead. I consider Band-Maid's music primarily hard rock with influences from punk, prog, and metal, with catchy lyrics (by Miku), melodies, and a groove that hooks you in and makes you feel good and want to move. Their music constantly evolves, and all their work is always for the song's benefit. Kanami, the lead guitarist; Misa, the bassist; and Akane, the drummer, are all top-tier and highly-rated female musicians in Japan and the world. Saki's voice brings Miku's lyrics to life with her vocal range and character, which is something most other Japanese vocalists cannot reproduce. The harmonization between Saki and Miku is fantastic and adds so much to their music. Listen to any of their 100+ songs, and you will see they are one of the best rock bands, creating some of the best hard-rock music. They will be celebrating their 10th anniversary next year. A little history about the musicians, and if any of the following is incorrect, the maidiacs will correct me. To my knowledge, Kanami, Misa, and Akane all played piano before learning to play their instruments in high school. Of course, Miku first started learning the guitar in 2013. Note: It's funny that Akane played trombone in the school band before learning to play the drums.

    I know the feeling of having missed many years of good music very well, too. But don't let it drag you down, and enjoy the fact that someone has opened the curtain to the great music from the Far East that I was also trapped behind for far too long. 😉 And you're right, it even has something to do with their culture that most of these high caliber musicians work incredibly hard to become what they are. But of course, there are also a few who seem to have been born with the talent. A fine example of this might be the band 'Asterism'. A 3-piece metal instrumental band that has already knocked quite a few out of their socks. Curious? Then I simply recommend their MV for 'Rising Moon'. :)
    Greetings from Germany, and till next time. 🤘🏻

    Kanami....the composer and lead guitarist....said she asked Misa to come up with a bass solo thinking it would be a good song for lives. To me it feels like the first 2 verses set up the rap bit which sets up the bass solo which sets up the guitar solo which sets up the acapella bit. The acapella bit is my favorite part of the song. So much sass!

    I think you’re right that the bass solo is the peak of the song. You have the moment just before where they basically rap for 2 bars and average rock fans are struggling with a little cognitive dissonance trying to decide if that’s okay to even exist and then the bass just hits you with that meaty growl and you forget what you were even worried about and go “this is fucking awesome”.
    So yeah, bass solo is the key to this songs greatness. The song is great overall, but that’s the moment you know it’s awesome in your soul.

  • @VegetaRabbit
    @VegetaRabbit 2 года назад +6

    MISA gets quite a few bass solos. What's amazing, is that they compose their own music and write their own lyrics on their newer albums. Another cool fact is that Miku, the girl that did the guitar slide at the beginning, couldn't even play guitar when the band started and learned from the lead guitarist, Kanami.

    • @daaaaaave
      @daaaaaave Год назад

      Another cool fact is that it's actually two pick scrapes going in opposite directions at the beginning. Miku's going high to low on the left channel and there's another one going low to high on the right channel. I think Kanami does it when they play it live.

    Your description of Band maid is spot on.........PERFECTION! Many many tracks (120+) and only a few are good...........the rest are GREAT! Your curiosity on the bass solo is kind of funny.......You'll find that Band-Maid incorporates bass solos in many of their songs and you asking if that was the apex of the song....well, we Maidiacs know.......that Misa solos usually begin at the first note of any song and doesnt end until the last note of the song they are playing. Her skills allow her to follow the drums, vocals, and guitars at the same time. When Kanami writes a song she just gives it to Misa and Misa does what Misa does. MISA knows exactly what note to play to enhance the entire song no matter what the genre or timing of the song is. Only a handful of bassists has that capability. If you pursue reacting to Band-Maid you'll find yourself blown away by all their skills especially in writing. You'll also find that your numbers will greatly improve because "Maidiacs" are many, .....and we enjoy seeing others discover this incredible band. We have all been where you are at and never tire of watching amazement from others. 780 views in 4 hours should tell you something. Subbing for now.

    The big 3: Akane-drums, Misa-bass, & Kanami-lead guitar all studied music which is taken rather seriously in Japan, so that explains their skill level. “Influencer” is a cool song. Misa’s bass solo stole the show because it was so unexpected yet tastefully played, but all the maids shine in this song.

    Nice reaction.."..I just saw the band in concert in New York City and in Boston about two weeks ago. They were even better than the first two times that I saw them in 2019 in NYC. Fun fact: Miku Kobato (founder, vocals, guitar, wearing red rose, 800+ years old Pigeon) did not know how to play the guitar in 2013 when she started the band. Kanami (composer, lead guitar, arranger) became Miku's teacher. Today, Miku is a solid guitar player and has started to do solo work on some of the songs. Miku is an amazing force of pure energy and determination! Kanami is the inspirational and creative force of the band but Miku is the 1000% drive and force of the band.
    NB:,the other dynamic duo of the band is Misa on base and Akane on drums. Both are in the top notch in their musical force. Lastly, the Ice Queen, the lead singer is Saiki. Yet, when she is on stage in front of you all you feel is her love and sweet smile as she sings her heart out for the fans!

      No insult intended. The Ice Queen was her nickname in the beginning of the group mainly due to the cold attitude Saiki held during interviews. She was always aloof and looked like she had better things to do than sit in on an interview. This of course is not true! I've been a fan since early 2014 and I have seen them 4 times now. Saiki, on stage is very emotional and warm. With her smile flashing brightly from time to time. There is absolutely nothing cold about her on stage!
      However, that old nickname (misleading too) is still known to most fans.

    You talk about learning their instruments. 9 years ago when the rhythm guitarist started this band, she had never played, she was a singer. She decided her voice wasn’t right for hard rock, and stepped back as the second vocalist. With a new vocalist with right voice, it was suggested that she learn rhythm guitar. In the first video they released in 2014 (Thrill) she is using her rickenbacker as a prop. She has learned and can hold her own on stage with the rest of that incredible band.

In Japan all students are expected to learn to play instruments at a very young age- 4 years. It's just that now they are becoming rock musicians instead of classical musician. My suggestion for a new young band, try the MV for Nova Twins and the song Taxi. They are just being recognised in the US.

    I love Band Maid, as they really are one of those rare bands that just can't deliver bad songs (a "bad" band Maid songs would still be considered "good" songs for pretty much any other contemporary band) and who are so tight as a band that it's hard to pick a favorite or "star" member.
    But in case you want more bass solos (taken *very* losely, as I don't know how whether a 7-string bass still qualify as "bass") and even more singular virtuoso guitar playing (aka. do you want your musician ego even more shattered?), please take a look at the Live studio recording of "Church" by Asterism ( ruclips.net/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/видео.html ). It *genuinely* makes me tear up every time when Hal-Ka, the guitarist, starts playing in this piece. I like Asterism, but they are not my favorite band ... this particular piece, on the other hand, is one of my absolute favorite progRock piece ever.
