    What a smart idea! The 3000 gallon water tank is good dual purpose: tanker if needed, but also heavy weight to stop an incoming vehicle if necessary.

    I have never seen one of these whether on a construction site or as an accident blocker. We definitely need more of these in fire departments across the nation you cant put a price on a life... i was almost hit by a car along on a highway once while working an accident because of an incompetent driver who went around the fire truck which was scary to say the least.

      The idea was good inspired by the Irving Fire Department for that exact reason and many other departments have followed that idea with a few modifications. I honestly call this the mega blocker. Also thank you for your service brother! I’m very glad they didn’t hit you and definitely understand the scary part

    • @determinedfirefighter9225
      @determinedfirefighter9225  2 года назад

      @@ARFF13 our council hasn’t even approved a budget for extra staffing and idk why we would even do that when our blockers don’t even get used that much. To me that’s a waste of staffing when we can staff truck 1 or rescue 8 full time. Last I check we were only allowed 264 personal but I’ll check on that.

    We have been using a similar vehicle for several years.
    It actually required on all jobs where the speed limit is 100+kph
    It also has a large message board on the back.

    That's the perfect rig for today's text - and - drive, talk - and - drive culture. I volunteer for a rural Maine dept and have been nearly taken out approximately 6 times. Almost as good to take an old engine, reinforce the tail and use it as a blocker. It's a crying shame that out driving culture has regressed to having to have these rigs at traffic incidents.

      Yea I agree with you on that. It sucks that these things are a need for first responders now because of the ignorance of other during emergency scenes

      There has been construction on IH35 in their territory. What made it especially in Carrollton was the narrow lines with sharp turns. I'm not saying that wasn't problems for other cities in the area, but for what ever reason the pucker factor was real high there.

    And it already has been hit by a drunk driver weeks after it was first used in September 2022.
    And it is not that hard to add a siren on it, do not understand why that was not done as it is an emergency vehicle.

      Perhaps, since it's a blocker, it does not have any immediate need to get there first. Ideally it should be the last emergency vehicle to arrive and assume the blocking position.

    To bad something like this had to be designed, but when people are in a car they become so stupid, dumb and ignorant of what's outside their bubble.
