  • Since flower stalks require so much energy from the plant, you may want to cut the stalk before it flowers. This all depends on if you want to propagate or let the plant take it easy this spring 😎👍🏼 flowering is not a death sentence for your plant. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. most of the information in this video is from "savage garden" by Peter D'amato. if you dont have a copy, get one!!

Apparently you can plant the flower stalk and it might grow another Venus flytrap if you're lucky.

What if you fed each trap often to bring back it's energy while blooming, do you think the plant would stress less?

That is exactly what you should do

@@HandbreakGlass Just getting into it, no plants yet, but hope to buy some dormate pitchers & traps within a week or so. Right now I am watching every video I can find on the subject, from growing, repotting, and germinating from seed or leaf cuttings. Your video was very helpful.

Welcome. Ive learned a lot since this vid. I forgot to mention that feeding them dueung fkowering will help tremendously. I was kinda going off the peter d'amato book savage garden which didnt mention that. Ive propogated quite a few since then. My conditions get too hot for the seedlings. Lots of little baby traps that end up getting cooked.

How do you get the concave shape on the sides of the traps? Also which species has bigger traps, a B52 or a King Henry?

Had a change in living situation since and had to make adjustments. I dont have a 'stock's at the moment, but feel free to email me at fancyplantsusa@gmail.com or on Instagram @fancyplantsusa . I no longer have any venus flytraps or seeds for sale. Everything is dormant for winter. I'll be restocking in the next month or two for spring.

Paul Walker i like your video.... i own few VFT and this is firt time i let it flower.... why people talk that flowering will kill your plant? why then don't die in their natural habitat? thanks

one more thing... if the flower is in that stage as yours...... to much energy is already spent to grow... and cutting it or not doesn't matter ?

    • @nonha6044

Srecko Kovacevic you could cut the flower stalk if you want or you want seeds or u just like flower you might want to cut it then, also they says that if u let the flower bloom they will die but it just a myth (FAKE),if u want bigger traps and a big plant than u might want to cut the flower stalks of, I have some flowers in my plant but it healthy, but I want more plants that why, can u upload me a video I could probably help you decide!

Non Ha I just wanted to say if the flower is already so evolved.... plant spent already too much energy, and there is no point to cut it... as I red.

I'm not sure if I answered this already. Flowering puts a lot of stress on the plant and can in fact kill it, but it does not kill it every time as a rule. Keeping them fed while flowering can help a lot. As for your question about why don't they die in the wild? Well.. sometimes they do :) but if it has flowered and produced seed, when it dies, others will take its place. Sometimes the plant will go dormant instead of dying completely. If the plant has already flowered as much as mine in the video, most of the hard work is done.

Hey is there anyway I can contact you? I need help with my flytrap that is flowering and I would like to send you a pic to see if most of the hard work that is stressing the plant is done. Because I love my flytrap and want it to survive but I also would like some seeds.

    • @HandbreakGlass

Sure. I wouldn't worry about a flower killing the plant. Just keep it fed. Shoot me an email fancyplantsusa@gmail.com
