  • Check out our trip to Japan, thanks to our friends at Snapdragon Elite Gaming: • We went to Japan...
It’s happened again - a pro player banned mid-match at LAN, for cheating. This time, it’s Call of Duty Challengers.
And after initial laughs about how it was probably a mistake, it turned out that yeah - Activision reportedly said he was cheating. He’s been kicked, and the rest of his roster caught a disqualification, too.
So how much was competitive integrity affected? And why did it take this long to catch it?

6:47 A common thread among cheaters is a sense of entitlement. The sentiment goes sort of like "I'm good and therefore I deserve to win, but these minor mistakes or this flaw in the game design are holding me back so I'll just adjust the game a little bit to fix that and ensure the chips fall where they should"
This mentality is extremely common among speedrunning cheaters.Take a look at any of those expose videos and you'll find that pretty quick.

    • @Affews100
      @Affews100 Год назад +47

Yeah, Karl Jobst's expose videos usually say exactly that. Most of the times a major cheating scandal happens, is when an already top level player cheats, because they're tired of grinding and feel like their skill is not being properly rewarded. And because an outsider with little knowledge and skill on a game is usually caught pretty easily, thus it don't become a scandal. A highly skilled player, though, knows exactly how to do it without getting caught

There's a few differences between speedrunning and live-game cheaters, because a speedrunner could be a demonstrably high-skilled player who submits a spliced WR run, while a live-match cheater is seeking an advantage beyond their actual skill level.
That's why you hear a lot of speedrun cheaters claim they "really got the record" but didn't capture it for whatever reason (the recording software wasn't on, power went out, their dog ate their hard drive, etc, etc), so they cheated a run to submit to the leaderboard _to get the recognition they feel entitled to..._ even highly-skilled players can fall prey to the idea of cheating after endless grind & bad RNG.
With live matches, the whole point of cheating is to enhance your skills beyond their natural levels to outperform your opponent... so the entitlement generally comes without investing the hard work & grind into becoming as highly skilled as they _think_ they are. They _feel entitled to take an unfair advantage over other players_ in order to win.

bro. fucking this. i remember watching a cs:go youtube video. dude was like "the enemy team was cheating" so i figured he was spectating. NOPE. it was a match of all global elites. literally 10 globals.... and about 8 rounds in he's like "they are fucking cheating, ill fix that" and then pulls up his cheat window, and he toggles his own fucking cheats. i shit you not. "i only have them to counter cheaters" that's bullshit. the only reason that faggot was global elite was because he was cheating. cheated his way to global and then turned them off as if that means somethin. and then turns them on when someone is better than him and/or possibly cheating.
as a current DMG rank and past global elite before cheaters took over the top tier, I played vs a team where the top 3 started cheating after second half. we were stomping them so hard, then out of nowhere they got nothing but headshots, always knew where you were, became gods out of nowhere. while before they were fucking clueless. the funny part was, even with cheating they could only tie. pathetic. the moment they toggled I started having my team push together instead of splitting up. 5 man rush to site no mid pick bullshit no split site bullshit. usually i will do multiple zone picks to throw the enemy team off. like 2b 3mid or 3b 2a rushes. but now we did 5 man rushes. a cheater can't kill all 5 on a rush. so we still killed the loser. of course the whole time he's bragging how skilled he is and how bad we are. blah blah blah. talking shit because of his tiny ego.

this. cheating is so much more widespread. statistically we could apply said statistics of one game to another. cs:go when it originally ran their vac-net AI anticheat privately for 6 months in "wingman" lobbies, they concluded that their AI was 90% accurate in catching cheaters, and 60% of the kids the bot watched were proven to be cheating.... 60 fucking percent. with 300k players that's statistically 180,000 cheaters.... that's way too many cheaters. turn around and apply 60% statistic to the pro league, and you start to realize how bad it is in the modern age.

There have always been competitors at the top of their game who decide to cheat, for all sorts of reasons... the ones with the ego to actually decry cheating publicly are usually the entitled ones, who think they deserve the results while ignoring the obvious fact that they are only achieving those results _because_ of their cheats. And unlike cheating in pre-recorded runs like speedrunning, when you cheat in _live matches_ it's plainly obvious that your true skill level isn't as high as your cheated play or the cheats would be pointless... it's sad because it's the height of self-delusion.

Soft walls (I’ve seen people who mod their controller to rumble when a player is nearby for warzone), soft aim (aim assist higher than normal), aim assist on mnk (this is just sad), it’s normal now for you to cheat to become pro. Pros in most games aren’t that good, they just have a fan base so teams hire them on to make more money and get more publicity.

ive used cheats before and one thing for sure i learned it killed my gaming passion for a long time i had to heal from that addiction of buying cheats and kill people without any feeling of fun, dont use cheats men they will kill your passion for gaming.

they need the false high from the win. nothing feels better than smashing the enemy team with your own skill. its a stronger high. sadly cheaters will never understand that. as you stated, you felt empty. because it wasn't you winning. it was the cheat. id say i feel bad for you, but ive never cheated, people make choices and live with them.

People are crazy hypocritical and I was ‘more sure’ he was a cheater after you reviewed his tweets. People think they are shifting blame when they speak out against something they are secretly doing because who would so loudly proclaim against something and then do it themselves? So many examples of people busted, with paper trails, that I’m at the point that if your overly passionate or annoyingly adamant about something, I’m going to assume that whatever that thing is, your doing it.

This is why I’m not taking esports seriously until AI anti-cheat is established amongst the games. We screen Olympic athletes before they compete so I don’t see why we wouldn’t for players earning money irl. Can’t ban 30% of the player base because every game would lose customers. So for now, we are stuck playing w discord hacks and chronus idiots.

vac-live in CS2 is gonna be a game changer. they already had vac-net which was AI, it just wasn't allowed to ban players on its own. supposedly now it will with its new implementation. gonna be sweet.
and you right about the banning issue. rainbow 6 siege stated they wont ban cheaters, just increase their recoil to insane amounts to make the game "unplayable" except if they are cheating, they already have zero recoil. lmao. they basically said "most of our players cheat, so we wont really ban anyone" and im sure activision is the same with call of duty. if most of the players cheat, they can't earn money on skins. lmao.

@@goblinphreak2132 Yea, even Valorant’s notorious “vanguard” seems like it isn’t working like it use to. Later at night is when the hackers are more prominent but sometimes in Ascendant 3 lobbies, I get new accounts with the weirdest game sense or aim. Obviously there are smurfs, but with some research, I found many cheats being sold for Valorant. The only way I can see this being solved is a fully implemented AI. There’s a company that already made one and it apparently has a 99.7% detection rate or something like that. It detects ESP, aimhacks, chronus, ai aim, etc. And it even tracks old gameplay footage and gathers a gameplay footprint being able to detect hackers playing on a new PC just by the way they play. It’ll definitely change the way gaming works. Hopefully CS2 is similar to something like that. It would make me love gaming again.

he would cheat at home during online use which could include online tourny's. I would doubt he would cheat at the LAN event cause they have officials watching like hawks as well as their display output is feed in to the production truck. It would take some reason brass ones to attempt to cheat there and think you won't get caught. Its pretty easy tell if someone plays like a god online at home but when they aren't on their machine then they play like a potato. I know pressure being that could effect but if it happens time and time again month after month god at home crap at a LAN then its valid question to ask if they a cheat.
