I keep an open ramekin with baking soda in it, to store in my instant pot with it’s savory ring. Helps deodorize it and then I use the baking soda as powder cleanser the next time I use the pot. Works great and no harsh chemicals. Thanks for all your tips. Very helpful.
I use baking soda and a scrubbie to clean my inner pot. No chemicals at all, nontoxic and totally natural, scrubs off any nasty bits and shines the stainless steel right up. I also use it on my stainless steel flat ware, spoons, knives...etc, brings the shine back out.
What a great web site, especially for the novice Instant Pot user. I asked for and got one for Christmas with an extra cookbook but had so many questions before discovering this web site. Thanks, Karen, for your videos and your recipes.
While I have a vegan instant pot 6 qt and 8 qt...I loved your suggestions. Especially the 1/2 size bundt pan and the pot in pot suggestions. I use my instant pot for steel cut oats, all kinds of beans and legumes, potatoes, rice , artichokes, vegan spaghetti...( will try the lasagna pot in pot) and soups and chilies. I could not function without an instant pot I feel. Loved the 0 minutes on the broccoli. I needed that better timing.
I do love watching your videos. I’ve had my Instant Pots over a year now. Every time I need a recipe, your website is the 1st place I go to look. Pretty soon I’ll have a whole notebook full of your recipes. Please, keep ‘em coming.
Great selection of accessories for an electric pressure cooker. Most people don't realize the have many oven safe cook and storage containers that can be used in an EPC. So long as it is oven safe and doesn't block steam circulation, one can use it in an EPC. Always use the trivet. Never forget the water. (Clearly these comments are for all others.) Bar keepers friend is a micro scrubber. No scratch pad necessary. The scratch pad creates deeper scratch for food to stick in. Cleaning with just the BKF and a regular sponge or non-scratching scrubber will actually make a smoother surface to allow food to come off easier the next time. You'll actually get a brighter shine without the abrasive scrubbing pads. Cheers.
O....M....Gosh!!!! You and THIS CHANNEL have changed our liiiiiiiife! Now more time for family time resting and more organization because of this IP and recipes!!! Thank you so much🙏🏽❤️👍🏽😌
We got the ultra 10 in 1 for our daughter's birthday. We liked it so well we bought 2 more for us. The biggest problem we've had is that 99% of Instant pot recipes are for the less expensive models and we had to translate. Your explanations are very helpful, being that we are all beginners with this kind of cooking. It would be a Godsend if Instant would create a new cookbook with the 10-in-1 in mind. If we sound a bit like ignoramuses, We're old school. I'm 87 and my wife is 92. First time we heard of an instant pot we thought about something to put beside the bed in case we didn't think we could make to the john fast enough lol.
Please don't pay any attention to what some of these trolls say. I joined because of this and I like your content. Keep on trucking girl😉 Happy Holidays 🎄🎉🍸
I belong to the Facebook IP Community group. I mentioned to the group that I used my white Pyrex dish (like yours) for making cheesecake. One of the administrators of the group told me it was not IP safe. I didn't believe it, so I called the Pyrex Co. office just north of Chicago where I live. The representative told me it was not safe due to the high heat under pressure in a confined space and the lack of air circulation around the dish like you would get in an oven. It may crack under pressure. Bummer! I immediately bought a Fat Daddio 6 inch X 3 inch pan with a removable bottom from Amazon. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I love your videos. They are very helpful as I just got an IP LUX for Christmas. I LOVE it, and I use it each day.
Probably not! I wouldn't take the chance based on what I was told by the IP Company representative from the Facebook IP Community group and the Pyrex Co. I may use it for heating food in my IP but not under pressure. @@karenbellessapeterse
Me too! Got mine for Christmas 🎄 & have been studying up on the internet, well before hand on how to cook in it, tips, & reading 📚 & collecting recipes! 🌺💜💐💜
I forgot to add that my man is at Home Depot right now getting me a 1 1/2" PVC Elbow to use to divert the steam from the lid so it does not ruin my wooden cabinets by blasting them with the hot steam when it vents.
Really great tips Karen! Thank you for taking the time to guide us thru this awesome InstaPot! I didn't think of cooking a Meatloaf, that's next! You cou
I got a small instant pot because I am single but now I wish I would have gotten a 6 qt. I am looking at the Instant Pot brand because it doesn’t have a coating in it. I Instant Pot a lot being alone and it makes healthy meals that makes me feel like I will stay in remission longer.
Got mine about a week ago and make meatloaf and potatoes as my first meal. I will be making something different tomorrow. Also started a blank book I am writing recipes in I know I want to try.
Looking forward to seeing your post on Pop Corn. This is the recipe I used • 2 tbsp butter • 3 tbsp coconut oil I used olive oil are I don't like the taste of coconut oil • 1/2 c popcorn kernels • salt Instructions 1. Set Instant Pot to saute, more (or high) setting. 2. Add coconut oil and butter and allow to melt completely and start to sizzle (important step - watch video in this post for an example). 3. Add popcorn kernels and stir so all kernels are coated with oil. 4. Place glass lid on top and hold, popcorn will begin popping in about 2-3 minutes, turn off when 2/3 of kernels have popped and they will continue to pop but not burn. 5. Carefully remove lid. Pour out of pot when done so they don't continue to cook. Salt and you're done! Thanks Lynnette
I have to get more sealing rings for my pot, the baking pans, and the extra main lid. I already have several accessories which I have not been used yet, but will be using them as time goes by. Thanks for sharing this information and is will help all of us new users in using our Instant Pot.
I was searching for pot videos on RUclips, and found this. Not the pot I had in mind, but I learned a lot. Gonna spend my money and an Instant Pot instead, now.
I used a wet double folded paper towel, a little bar keepers friend sprinkled on top and let it "soak" than wipe clean. If I still have some burnt or dried on food than I soak it in some hot soapy water afterwards and clean it with a non-abrasive sponge.
Ok how can I not love you when not even 15 seconds in I see you hugging your giant pot? Now that is just too cute. Now I HAVE TO SUB! You set me up lady lol

At 3:40 you show two round pans, one Pyrec the other corningware. How many quarts are those? Or if I went for the Pyrec what quart would I use? I have the Instant Pot 8 quart. Thanks
My greek yogurt doesn't need to be strained. 7 C whole milk, 1 C half & half, powdered milk (for 1 qt milk - don't add the water!) Once the milk mixture gets to temperature, hold at ~180 degrees for 30 minutes, cool to ~110 degrees, stir in starter, "cook" for 24 hours. Remove to fridge to cool. Put into containers once cooled. Perfectly thick with no straining. I get to keep all the whey in yogurt.
Karen, you showed a set of 3 stainless Steel pot inserts that were sent to you. They were different sizes and had seals inside the lids. Can you tell me where they came from or the brand name as I can’t find them anywhere on the internet.
The sealing rings on the Amazon link are currently unavailable, which is a good thing, because they are not sold by Instant Pot. If you buy a second ring, make sure it's sold by Instant Pot. I'm from Canada and buy the sealing rings at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.. So if you have one nearby, check out that store. They also sell extra inner pots too. All IP brand.
what do you do when the metal ring holding the sealing ring comes undone? I have a mini ip and haven't used it a whole lot but have had it over a year (was scared to use at first), I noticed the other day that the metal ring has now come loose in 3 of the 4 spots and I do not remove the seal with any great force.

There have been many complaints about the knock-offs not fitting properly. I've tried several of this lady's recipes, and they were delicious.

@@marilynstclair1310 Amazon. They have all three sizes. smile.amazon.com/Genuine-Instant-Pot-Sealing-Clear/dp/B008FUUQJW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1545362122&sr=8-3&keywords=instant+pot+sealing+ring
I'm from Canada and buy the sealing rings at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.. So if you have one nearby, check out that store. They also sell extra inner pots too. All IP brand.
@@marilynstclair1310 You can also try www.Instantpot.com they have them.
@@bccabernet Thank you for the information.
Thank you!
Karen, great info here. What do you think of the Mealthy air crisp lid (air fry lid that fits on top of Instant Pots?)
You’re wonderful!
what do you do when the metal ring holding the sealing ring comes undone? I have a mini ip and haven't used it a whole lot but have had it over a year (was scared to use at first), I noticed the other day that the metal ring has now come loose in 3 of the 4 spots and I do not remove the seal with any great force. Love the video. I also now have a Ninja Foodi.
thanks very helpful
