@@BrooklynAvenueyes, you are right, but it was terrible refereeing to allow it to happen. When Bugner sat on the bottom rope, that should have been when the count was given. In the rules of boxing, if a fighter is stopped from going to the canvas by the ropes, it counts as a knockdown. Frank should have been sent to a neutral corner, and the count should he been started from then. When Bugner got up, the referee didn't wipe his gloves or check if he was ready or willing to continue. He didn't even wave the fighters together to restart the fight. He just let Frank wade in and start punching. The bell rang to end the round, and, with all the cheering, it is possible that the referee didn't hear it. Bugner infuriated my dad.
He had everything but always boxed within himself, seemed hed rather have a tame defeat than try for a big win.
But its not really a criticism, its a job and he went in with the best and never got hammered.
It could be he was just a bit smarter than your average Joe.
He knocked him out after the bell that was great, lol.
I never understood Bugner he went the distance with all of them. And not much else.
Joe was a professional for sure
Bruno ali Frazier Ron Lyle would of knock out Bruno out easy Days work big Joe went the distance gave smoking Joe Frazier a hell of a fight
AJ really is a poor mans Frank Bruno
