Perhaps the most underrated guitarist, people don't realize just how many songs that they love is Steve playing the guitar on. I was on the first row right in front of Steve at the next to last concert Toto played he was amazing. It's just as important to know when to not play than over play, Steve is a master of that.

What i find exceptional about him is having such precision, clean, and tasteful playing while still managing to sound reckless and exciting at times - still able to completely "go off"

yeah he talks in his book about how he started to step away from the studio sessions but his vast experience takes up half the book. All the references, gigs, its awesome

Another great interview, Jeremy. He’s so damn humble and entertaining. Get him on here more often... if I can’t see him play and talk to him at his gigs, this will do. Thank you!

I would love to hear about Luke's experience in laying-down 2 of the greatest guitar solos EVER in Lionel Richie's "Running With The Night." Also one of the greatest songs ever made in any genre, and I'm a Metalhead.

Like it or not people esp on Fb EVH grp likes to debate on how much credit EVH should be allowed to take on the Beat it song success even tho it was Steve Lukather original guitar work with Toto's drummer Steve Porcaro and other expert engineers work behind the song. In the end it was EVH version that producer Quincy Jones and MJ chose and ask Steve Lukather to rework the song and it became a huge success and basically the song that helped MJ crossover. You can't denied the song have Eddie Van Halen signature sound all over it. The Beat it song will be forever known as as EVH and MJ collaboration. Sure Steve Lukather deserved a big praise for his contribution but in reality EVH made the song for what and it was a massive huge successful hit

nothing to none. Just session fees. Only Steve Porcaro makes money for being the writer of human nature. Lukather never got wrting credits for a lot of songs.
