First, TNX for cranking out these videos for us to enjoy and learn from. Second, I like the "half-price" instead of the "two-for-one" deals as I'm alone in life. Third, your videos always leave me smiling. A tough thing to do. Especially right now. Fourth, God Bless you both!
Thanks Derrick and Shawnasi for visiting Mama’s. I like all of the Johnson restaurants! That Salisbury Steak or Country Style Steak looked good and that’s one of my favorites! Keep the videos coming and we’ll certainly be watching them. God Bless!!
Thank you for the great review and taking us along. Love to hear the truth about the atmosphere and food, all is important when you are spending your hard earned money 😊 and living on limited funds of retirement.😊
Yeah, we thought adding a little humor would be fun. Glad you enjoyed it! Also glad that you realized it was staged and humor. Believe it or not, we actually had someone email us, and chastise me for harassing a stranger in the outhouse. I couldn't believe it. I honestly thought everybody would know that was just added for laughter. I mean, how many restaurants actually still have functioning outhouses for their customers? 😂😂😂😂
Appreciate this. You’ve mentioned before Dillard House, and I remember going to Jarrett House in Dillsboro as a child. We are pretty big fans of this company’s restaurants so we’ll try this next. Thanks!
I just subbed your channel. Great Content. I loved Moma's Farmhouse Restaurant, it's been several years since I ate there last. Sounds as if it's slipping a bit.
Part of it could be that we were there so late. The last time we were there, it was really, really good. We certainly want to go back for breakfast, and give them another shot. Thank you for watching.
Chicken noodle is a good option for restaurants for a standard soup that most everyone likes. Our last visit was at breakfast and we really enjoyed it. The biscuits were very good on that visit. Consistency is the key to any good restaurant, especially with their award winning biscuits. Eating an all you can eat that late is tough. I understand completely trying to take advantage of one of the Johnson Family specials. Definitely a good deal to get that meal half-price. Thanks for sharing.
We definitely do want to try it for breakfast. The videos we've seen of breakfast, including yours, make it look very good. The next time we go, it will be for breakfast.
And we were a bit disappointed that they didn't have the strawberry butter. The peach is great, and it's my preference. But her preference is the strawberry, and I also liked the strawberry last time, as well. And the biscuits were very good this visit.
@@NCMemoryMakers That is very disappointing. I know they only serve one a day but they could have bought you some if requested. Last time we were there we were able to get both.
Thanks Derrick and Shawnasi for your excellent and honest review. We ate there too and I would agree, I was ok but it wasn't exceptional. You are right about how they bring out the sides. We had the same experience. I will say that that special does sound like a good deal and makes it worth it to go there just because of that. When we were there, we sat on that same area that you did. I also agree with you i could never eat that much that late at night. Thanks again for a great and honest review. Kerp up the grrat work. God bless you both. 😊
Dinner there was our first meal in PF! It was around the same time at night and they were out of a couple things🙃 Food was just ok!! Not sure if we would go back…
Well, we have been staying at the Mountain House in Gatlinburg, as of late. The motel we have stayed in for years, is currently closed and undergoing remodeling, and will be changing hands soon. The Mountain House is older and simple, but clean, and conveniently located in downtown Gatlinburg. It is budget-friendly.
I know what ya mean about all you can eat places. The last time I went to a Golden Corral I ate was too much and said to myself, never again. Well just yesterday I got an email from them saying I had a free buffet for my birthday in February . Well I hate to pass that up lol! So maybe I won't go again NEXT TIME ,lol! Yalls food did look good but if it wasn't busy there is no excuse for barely warm food . One of my pet peeves is arriving early to a restaurant and be the first ones there OR getting in near closing, especially the latter because ya never know if your getting the best quality of food.
I don’t get how anyone thinks they have the right to comment on what others eat. No matter what they eat or how much!!! Those claiming it’s for others “health” are just trying to cover up their rudeness and bluntness of something that 1) isn’t any of their business 2) they aren’t paying for it 3) did they parents fail in basic manners? I mean be kind. If you have nothing nice to say scroll on? I know you guys are too nice to say anything or call these people out but they are not your fans or anyone that really cares to say that to others. You are a beautiful, kind woman with class & Grace and my thoughts are they are simply miserable and jealous and want to make others feel their desperation.. Anyways sorry that just hit me wrong that ANYONE thinks they have the right to say those things to others. Doesn’t matter if you’re in the public eye or not. It’s just being a decent human being… I follow from 2 accounts I watch and like from my other and the one on my phone I normally come to comment when something like this makes me really wanna say something!! lol.. I try to remember to like on both!! Wish I’d remembered those special cause I’ve been wanting to check out the Alamo
Thank you so very much for your kind words. One thing we have learned in doing this, is that while most people are very nice, there are always a handful who were never taught how to be nice and respectful. I agree with what you said, that it is probably a result of their upbringing. The person who made that comment to me, wasn't really trying to be mean, I don't believe. I also believe there are people that mean well, but they just don't have any tact in the way they come across. But I agree with everything you said. There are some things that should just not be said. I really am trying to make much more healthy choices, and have been doing pretty well. Usually, I eat much less the days prior, when I know we are going to be going somewhere like this. Thank you so much for your sweet comment.
A restaurant should never be out of something their selling in the front. Open a jar. Don’t understand why they didn’t open a jar of strawberry butter. If selling it serve it. Have a blessed day.
We actually said the same thing, that they could have opened up a jar. I don't know if it's because it was at the end of the day, or why they didn't. We were actually in a seafood place once, and they opened up a jar of their hot sauce that we liked, because there wasn't any out. You have a blessed day, as well.
As someone who’s worked at many restaurants and been a district manager over a top food chain restaurant it’s extremely easy to run out. First humans are just that. Humans..It’s hard to determine each day how much of something to fix without wasting food and money. There’s days we would be fine on something then the next 40 customers want that item that you thought you would have the rest of the night and before you know it, it’s out cause your busy, always understaffed and the next day you make double only to get your butt chewed by owners that you made too much and you are easily throwing out hundreds of dollars of food. It’s impossible to correctly know how much of something to fix just based on what customers and their preferences in each different day. Having those homemade mashed potatoes everyone loves is great but when you run short it’s not just opening a bag and throwing them in a microwave like most places do. It’s a lot of work and I promise you that don’t have one just sitting and making potatoes all night. They have 10/20 other jobs and on top of that I promise you no one wants to run out of anything cause we definitely don’t want to get cussed over mashed potatoes. The rudest and worst treatment people take is in food. Sundays was always the day every restaurant dreads (look it up) none of my employees ever wanted the Sunday shift. As a Christian myself that speaks volumes & is so sad.. People coming in, in their Sunday best treating others like crap. I promise no matter how bad of a day they think they’re having. Those behind the counter is having it worse. Most day we didn’t even get a break & would love to have anything that gets thrown in the trash especially all you can eat. So much food gets thrown away cause most don’t care. If they would get only what they want instead of waste then they wouldn’t run out as much either. And any place I’ve ever worked every single time the food truck delivered there’s issues with them leaving off the order or being out themselves. So sometimes that’s the issue for being out. My daughter worked at KFC for over a year in that time they left their chicken off the order. Even driving to another town twice to borrow from two other KFCs they ran out because the other KFCs are only gonna loan out until they feel like they won’t have enough..Living in a small town all day all I seen was “Went in KFC how are they out of chicken”… Well it certainly isn’t because they want to cause the cussing you receive aren’t worth not frying more..Not at all saying any of this to be hateful just why places run out. It’s not to get at anyone or because they’re not doing their job. (I’m sure there’s a few cases that are lazy but the majority I’ve worked with aren’t)
@tinaseaboch1364 You do bring up some very valid points, and I thank you for letting us see both sides of it. I guess with the butter, the only thing we were saying, is that they had numerous jars of it for sale in the lobby. And I'm guessing every day they have to open some of those jars? And I'm thinking they easily could have refrigerated what they didn't use that night, and used it the next morning. Don't they do that anyway?

Thanks for watching!
Food looked yummy. Got a good laugh out of the outhouse scene!!!!
Glad you enjoyed that!
Y'all are so full that I can hardly walk!!!😂 Loved the outhouse part. 😉
Yeah, that's obviously not the way to get new subscribers. We thought we would add a little humor into it.
Too much food for that late at night.
We are not huge fans of Mama's. Love your videos always. God bless you.
We basically went there that night, because of the special.

Thanks for taking us with you never eat there before

Yummy foods
We had a similar mixed experience when we visited Mammas about 2 years ago.
Yeah, this was a pretty mixed experience for us. Our first experience was good. We want to go back for breakfast.
I love country cooking! It sure was a good deal!

Always plenty to eat at Mama's Farmhouse. Best biscuits anywhere.

You are very welcome. Thank you so much for watching and for commenting.
Hey guys just wanted to let you know I randomly found your channel after watching another RUclipsr review this restaurant and decided to subscribe.
Thanks so much, and we hope you enjoy our content!

Were you there the same night we were? This past Friday?
No it was October 2022! Sorry I should’ve been clear on that 😝
@reginacelia8966 No problem. I just thought it would have been neat if you had been there at the same time, and we could have said "hello".
We ate there one time years ago. It must not have been a WOW experience since we haven’t been back.
Sorry you didn't have a great experience. Thank you for watching.
Hello from Cliff in Toledo Ohio
