What happens to Federal employees serving a probationary period for a supervisory position if there is a RIF? The easy answer is: Don't Worry. However, if you want to understand why (or explain it to your boss), watch this video.

I can't begin to thank you enough. This will be shared with HR.

I hope HR already knows this at your agency. If not, who knows what other bad guidance they're giving. If your HR is incompetent, then hopefully you have knowledgeable people with your union or OGC you can consult. Federal employees shouldn't have to turn to RUclips to get clarification on policy.

Great video - but can you speak to the many many federal employees who just took another federal job (transferred to another job series - non supervisory) who had their condition reset to Group II and put on a one year probation. Do they have protection?? Ive been in for 15 years. Was a permanent employee. - took another job series at another agency and was placed back on GROUP 2 for one year till the completion of my probation. There are many federal workers in my same boat.

perm if you are means they cannot get rid of you, Unless...you fail to perform in the new series and or fail to pass a drug test, background etc I have seen this happen, there are always conditions, and in a RIF there should be Save Pay, so your pay at your old job remains the same at your new job if you take a downgrade for a few years its been 25 years since I was RIFed so my memory might be out good luck and its always better to get the same pay in a non supervisory position!

I suspect a lot of supervisors will meet the new criteria for the revamped Schedule F. I believe if they direct a program segment or projects they might be reclassified to it, but I'm not sure it's that straightforward. But I know it extends well beyond policy involvement like it used to be.

Lol 🤣 it was a really bad decision to take that supervisor job. With a probationary period.

@@kq2799hey they have to place their misguided hate for the their poor life decisions on someone especially if they are one of those people who point at everyone but fail to look inside their self to make the change needed to do better at life. Let them be great lol.

Way to support your fellow American workers. This type of uneducated, inane blabbering is fully expected from your types.
