  • I was a tourist for the day and only had 5 hours to explore Yosemite Valley. This is a quick video summary. Thanks again Elaine for the free room at your nearby work conference!

    A long time ago around 1985 or so I got to fly my hang glider from Glacier Point in Yosemite. What a vew! Have only been back once since then.

    Wow - what a treat. I've been in a funk all winter, and this is just what I needed. I've only been there once (1978), and I'll never forget it. Walked the 4-mile trail and took lots of kodachrome slides (you remember kodachrome :) Good for Elaine for remembering dad.

      Wow that 4 mile trail is a good one with quite a climb. Those were the days in our youth when it was easy for us.

      Hi Trilby. Of course it’s better in person but still looks good on video. Hope all is well.

      @@ApeMan I had a small set back a week ago, had to call the fire dept EMTs to lift me out of my tub. Something during PT that the body didn't like, but I'm back in good form now, Have padded shorts ala snow boarders and will assay the start of a canyon trail to see if I can get by the initial hazard safely enough. A picture of me on the JMT on top of the exercise instructions keep me aiming in the right direction. As do your beautiful vids.

    Damn Terry, you are looking fit and trim. Your knees are glad I'm sure. Just got my right hip replaced, but recovering quickly, so a hike this year is still on the table.

      Thanks David. Trying to give the knees a break and get in shape for summer backpacking. Good luck with that hip. My buddy had his replaced a year ago and has no problem hiking on it now. You’re an active guy and that will help with your recovery.

    If you have limited time do Yosemite fall's, then go up to Nevada, go left at Vernal not upper route. To Nevada and back is 7 miles. Clouds Rest/Half Dome 22-24.
    Panoramic from Glacier to Nevada to Vernal to Valley 10.5. Great hike.

    What’s the snowpack like in the Sierra this year?

    • @ApeMan
      @ApeMan  2 года назад +1

      Terrible. We went two winter months with no rain or snow. Getting a little this week but the last snow survey on April 1st had us at 38% of normal.

    why did I think there should be snow on those mountains still?

    • @ApeMan
      @ApeMan  2 года назад

      Because there should be. Droughts suck! Snowpack at 38% of normal.

      @@ApeMan Ahhhh.....there's still snow in Tahoe. And we just had a storm. Yosemite got passed up this year. Bummer but good for through hikers.
