I was cracking up most of the day since this morning thinking about this video. I decided to come and view it again for some good laughs. What I'd like to know is why in the world they used live batteries. And then when Colleen switched the cables for absolutely no apparent reason is what also gets me. This was way too funny. Lol!
Many are missing that these are "smart jumper cables" and aren't supposed to be able to be cross-circuited. The guy even says they're going to demonstrate them (which is why the model switches the clips.) But, for some reason, the "smart" part of these cables failed and instead of either shutting off the flow of electricity, alerting the user of the problem (with a light or something) or simply correcting the problem itself (these types of cables can work in any of these ways) a fire starts.
i love how the broad hooks the cables up wrong and and gets startled by the sparks and walks away letting someone else deal with the impending disaster.
They're listed as "Smart connection jumper cables" and he talked about a "built in safety feature," so I'm wondering if her switching the cables was an intentional part of the demonstration, to show off some type of inline diode or what-have-you and they just didn't work how they were supposed to.
