  • This tiny house on wheels is something very special. Designed for a family of three, this home was designed with a very clever transforming function. When moved on the roads, it perfectly meets the legal height requirements but once parked up, the roof of the home pops up to create standing room in the sleeping loft.

    Constructed entirely as a DIY project, this tiny house was a definite labour of love for Ben and Nat, who had previously had very little construction experience. The finished tiny home gives the family of three everything they need, including a wonderful extra sleeping loft for their daughter Charlie.

    Although the tiny home’s build has just been completed, you can see it’s already a great fit for this adventurous young family, especially with the help of the pop top roof! The next phase will see the addition of a complete off the grid system for the home. Enjoy the full video tour of this dynamic tiny house!

      I truly hope it works out for them - but I somehow doubt it, I mean the kid will grow up she'll need a real room she can stand up in (even more so as her parents considered that important for themselves - but not for the kid!) and a desk to do homework etc...sorry to be the party-pooper here, but I think it's ill advised to move into a tiny house with kids (unless you can really give them a room of their own, even if it's just a truly small one (as long as the bed fits and there's room to do homework and maybe put in a computer (or a TV and gaming console)...seriously, kids need their own space :(

Impossible, I'd go nuts, bonkers, crazy!) if necessary, but three is stretching it IMHO!)
      Edit: So the kid has a "room" (as long as she's still young that works, but how about when she's growing up? I mean you can't give her a "stop growth" pill (not to mention that it would be unethical even if you could!))...don't think that'll work well when she's older however :(

      In Australia this is true because the laws make it hard to park a tiny house unless there's an established home somewhere else on the land. Basically, the people whose parents have land are the best off in terms of doing this. In NZ there seem to be looser rules and people can do more unusual things.

      Anonski
      I follow a German RUclipsr, who built one and really filmed the process in detail, including listing all the costs down to the last cent.
      She ended up spending around 35.000 €. That house needs to withstand winter temperatures though...so proper insulation and a gas furnace had to be put in. It’s a basic built, nothing fancy (and with a lot o work done by her), but you could probably manage to spent less, if you buy second hand appliances for the kitchen and stuff. Or just make do with a small gas cooker at first and upgrade as you go.
      A built like the one in this video, would be way, way more though...and make sure, you have a plan as to where to put it and what the regulations and stuff are. Because that can be a huge issue, unless you own land.

    Your home is beautiful and I’ve looked at hundreds bc I too want to build a tiny home for myself. Or at least help build it. But your little girl is the most adorable one! She is precious! I know that you two are very proud of her. I recently got my first two granddaughters. My other three are boys and of course I love them just as much. But my husband and I had three boys then three grandsons….so we waited a long time for our special little girls. Then my husband passed away before the girls were born. He had brain cancer. I’m enjoying them enough for both of us which is what he wanted. This is why I now need a tiny home. It’s just me now!

    Charlie's room can perhaps be eventually adapted using the same sort of raised roof as her parent's sleeping loft when she gets bigger.

    • @Serene6703
      @Serene6703 5 лет назад +2

      Eventually they're going to want that extra space and since it's an after the move adaptation , they should have just built the extra parts and done it at the same time they did their own.

    This wedge idea is a game changer. He needs to patent a prototype and sell it to other tiny home builders- or starting them for others. The whole loft format is one of tiny house living’s biggest drawbacks. Being tall and having kids who also need a room, makes the thought of living my life always hunched over in the bedroom very unappealing. I have no problem downsizing and desperately want the debt reduction, but I also want a relaxing bedroom for me and my teenage daughter. This house is truly lovely on many levels. It’s so very clean, bright and comfortable

    The pop up roof is revolutionary. I don't know why this is the first I've seen of it. Imagine popping up your entire roof, allowing your second floor to go from 4feet easily up to 6 or 7 feet, allowing you to walk normally and allowing a full proper second floor without the need to create lofts.

    Bryce, this one made me cry. I knew it would be good based on your excitement in the intro! It's sooo beautiful and child friendly. • @lucygray6162
      @lucygray6162 3 года назад +2

      @@lizafrolkis8185 If only it were that simple. What about people who aren't off the grid. Who's going to pay for the wells, power and water? Who's going to pull the permits? What if your dog rolls in the neighbor's poo compost? And all the bureaucratic crap when it comes to land use...I would have had a field full of tiny houses years ago if it weren't for our local council telling us what we can and can't do with our property. Like we can only split it once, it has to go to your children, and you have to carve out at least ten acres for them. And it takes a rezoning mess to achieve that. Keep hoping the youngsters will change things for everyone.

    The windows with accent panes was a nice find for recycled purchase. The diy custom shelves and cupboards look very well made and not hurried. Feels like they were very present in an easy way to a committed project during "unemployment". The finished house shows their personality from thoughtful planning and building.

    Wow, the design on this tiny home is just amazing, I love their layout. I'm personally not a fan of the homes that have the bathroom right beside the kitchen, I prefer the option they have gone with. Plus the way they have laid out the two lofts gives them all their own space. So as Charlie grows she's got her spot to grow and develop in. They have really thought of everything, and that pop up roof, genius 👏👏👏👏
