Thank you for showing what's inside one of those tools. I have a H.K.Porter one which belonged to my dad who was a machinist at their Somerville, Mass plant back in the 1960s and 70s where their tools were forged and made.
A must if you work on older motorcycles. I bought one back in the 70's that I still use. A Vessel 2500. I just recently took it apart to clean and grease. One of the 5/16'' ball bearings was a little chewed up I had to replace. Im not surprised at the force they have to handle. Still a great tool.
Surely the reverse option is for loosening reverse-threaded screws? I would hesitate to tighten anything with one of these - way too much force for tightening.
@@valhallaprime I never used one. I just used a tiny screw driver small enough to fit in and another small screw driver to hold one part after it was starting to release it's self so it would not go back into it's grove. That's all i did.
@@MrDoingEverything thank you. I was able to slide the ring clip off and disassemble. No ball bearing. My unit is from a Japanese maker, so not the same unit. I'll lubricate it and reassemble to see if it works again.
Success! I was able to clean and lubricate all the parts and it’s working again. Luckily I didn’t take the entire ring clip off or else I probably wouldn’t be able to get it back on. I just slid it onto the handle temporarily. Thanks mate!

Just what I needed to see. Bought a broken one for $5.00. Thanks for posting.
That's very nice presenting, thanks dear
Thanks a lot man, always wanted to see how it worked!
Thanks a lot!
Yep I wanted to see too. Thanks
Very good
@1:15 you bet we did!

Agree
Yeah we need torque wrenches for that
Thanks that was great. I have 3 and none work.
How did you disassemble it? I have a broken unit and I can't figure out how to disassemble it.
There is a ring clip that needs to come off then everything comes apart.
@@MrDoingEverything do you need a special tool of some sort to pop the ring clip?
