  • SpaceX is targeting Monday, January 31 for launch of the COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation FM2 mission to low Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The instantaneous launch window is at 6:11 p.m. EST, or 23:11 UTC.

    SpaceX literally pushes their limits upwards all the time that it’s insane to think about it. Also the tracking shot at 18:24 is just incredibly precious. SpaceX is a very important thing in the history of the human species

      @@lifelongconservative3338 I have been getting emails from Jill Biden and others from the DNC to send Joe Biden's team money. After some consideration of recent historical events, I suggested they ask Mary Bara. Apparently she is the leader of the GM team conquering the electrification of vehicles. So my guess is that Mary will send Joe some more money and therefor I don't have to. Perhaps once again Joe can say "You did it Mary!".

    17:56 Amazing shots from the ground camera! Must have been a clear sky and a really great lighting to capture such crisp images all the way through stage separation. 18:29 Shows the real scale of the second stage nozzle. I hope they will show more of such footage in the future launches!

      Abnormally cool temperatures, coupled with very low humidity made for great views (much better than normal) from my vantage point -- - 115 km from launch point.

      really stunning footage. Was little disappointed that they missed the fairing separation moment would be one of a kind footage. Anyway they could add some wider footage so we could see the shining trail. We normally see it by other people covering it

      @@LaggerSVK There is very good footage from the amateurs as well. I particularly liked the views of the thrusters firing on the first stage flying back to the landing zone in the video from "Cocoa Beach 365" channel. But SpaceX ground camera had the best clarity. It would be great if they could publish the uncut footage from it as a separate video. If enough people ask Elon on Twitter, they just might... ;)

      There are plans for launching a small space rocket form "Southern Launch" launch facility at Whalers Way in South Australia this year. The rocket is built by Korean startup "Perigee Aerospace".
      There are also some very adventurous experiments conducted by "Hypersonix Launch Systems" associated with University of Queensland, but they are still in rather early stages of development.

      Just so you know, the tracking shot (the one that shows separation and booster turn around) is pretty much impossible to film by hand due to how precise the movements need to be. It's always done by a camera that moves and follows the rocket automatically.

    Seeing that stage separation and stage 2 engine plume hitting the interstage at the top of stage 1 blew my mind. I never realized that things can get this toasty for the interstage. This is, by far, the best live video I've seen of any orbital rocket launch. Great job to the SpaceX team.

    I watched this from the 8th floor of the hospital I work at in central Florida. With the sun in the position it was in, I saw absolutely everything.. even the puffs from the cold gas thrusters making adjustments on the way back. Awesome launch

    SpaceX.. what can I say, you never, ever fail to impress. The views of MECO, Stage Sep, SES1 and Boostback... Just wow. Just caught the end of the Fairings separating too on the ground camera. Keep it up. The tracking shots from ground and those remote cameras are getting so good with each and every mission. With some 51 other launches planned for 2022, no doubt we will be seeing a lot more epic footage such as this!

    Launches just after sunset are always awesome! It is dark on the ground but the rocket is in the sunlight. Then add the polar orbit southward launch, it makes it visible from land. Normally it goes eastward and you can't see the separation.

    The stunning view, just past sundown of Falcon 9 back on Earth @24:00. With Jesse, I am truly amazed with what SpaceX and its people have done. Then later @ 1:16:05 the COSMO satellite is launched. Such a WOW event!

    It was the perfect moment of the day to see that stage seperation while Falcon 9 was being lit up by the sun. This must be one of the coolest launches ever recorded!! Way to go SpaceX, you've changed the world!!!

    Ground cameras were awesome. First time I witness a MECO, stage sep and boost back ignition as well as second stage ignition. Love to see this.
