Nice place to visit, but it's hard to reach. Daily flights from Saipan in small aircraft, but rapid changes in weather can strand you on Tinian. There used to be a ferry, but I don't think it's operational today.
When the runways are all restored, as they are doing now, wouldn't it be something to have Fifi the B29 Super Fortress take a trip out there and land on Tinian as so many of her type did 80 odd years ago
Most historic evidence has disappeared. The US navy abandoned Tinian just before I was born, about to be restored again. Perhaps if I were of use in WW3 I might get restored too.
Many fond memories of Tinian from the late 60's and 70's. Greeting to Alvin and Rudy, RIP Connie.
Recognized some scenes. Dad was a photo technician for the 509th and brought home a large photo album.
Spent 3 weeks there in 85 and explored all the ruins....amazing history!
I am a filipino friend from manila connecting you dear friend fullwatch.
Great this historic island will be restored 👍
It was late in his life when my Seabee dad informed me he had done the surveying for the atomic bomb pits and ramp.
Incredible
Mother Nature certainly reclaimed what is hers!!

Nope, no more ferry.

What am I, attending a wedding over here? What's with the music?
Sorry, but no matter what music you use, someone ain't gonna like it.
This music piece is not by Kevin Macleod it is by Johann Pachelbel.
Kevin MacLeod and RUclips appear to disagree: ruclips.net/video/dL8zEaUn2Qs/видео.html

I guess you are not needed...neither do I. We are too old chaps for that.
Some of the Dirt Boys from my Unit are out there doing rehab on the runway and Electricians too. Engineers Lead the Way All the Way.
Planning a visit soon, curious to see how it looks now.
