@@saddlebackleather I actually really like these craftmanship videos. When people ask me why they cost so much, I can just send them the link. So much difference having a trained craftsman build and assemble the piece with care and detail than having an assembly line machine do all the work. The hand stitching on these things in and of itself is brutal. For anyone that has done leather work, you know what I am talking about. Great video showing the detail.

I love the quality/craftsmanship of saddleback leather, but I’ll never buy one of their products online again.
Recommendation to those looking to buy SL products, always see actual photos of the product you’re buying, or in person at the store.
They have changed their leather drastically in terms of feel and/or color numerous times WITHOUT updating photos on their website. You never know what you’re going to get, and you could get penalized with a hefty return fee if the product you get is not what it looks like in person.
It’s unintentionally a “bait & switch” often times and very disappointing.
I absolutely stand by their quality, I just recommend always seeing it in person (new or used), or actual photos used (saddleback won’t take the time to honor the request).

This is Dave here. The tobacco color slightly changes with almost every batch we get from the tannery. It changes slightly because of the dew point or temperature when the wax is applied. It’s the same high quality leather every time. In fact, they keep making it better each year
