Me and my best friend started a local Tekken scene in our college and we've had an influx of newer players so I took it upon myself to make a video resource list of various Tekken concepts to help ease them into the wonderful world of Tekken and your videos Zug have been a godsend. You're doing God's work my man
Btw I think sidestepping and tracking is one of my biggest weaknesses. I have a Tekken bud who sidesteps literally everything I do, I think he's some kind of sidestepping genius or something. Idk
I love this kind of stuff. I was a HUGE Tekken Tag and Tekken 3 addict back in the day but I practically stopped playing the series all together for 4 and 5 because between 3 and 4 on the Playation, they removed the ability to assign side stepping to buttons in the controller settings. IMO, without that one little feature, the game felt so clumsy for years.
Hey! I had a comment thread on your last video about my poor understanding of 3d movement application, you responded a lot then, but this really helps so much! This and your play any character guide, along with novriltatakis 3d videos are the perfect 2d fighters guide to tekken. Keep up at the great work, I love it.
Why doesn’t this channel have more subscribers? I feel you though I’ve put so many videos on and I only have 20 subscribers it’s tough but you’re channel is incredibly useful where as mine would be silly entertainment, you deserve so much more
Just got the game and only have 30 hrs but I love it, I tried to find guides that help break it down but you’re videos do it perfectly hopefully I can reach the green ranks with my chloe :)
Still though... Making side step the up/down buttons stress me out so much cause sometimes, I want to side step but I get a jump. Double pressing up/down helps but the moves comes out a tad bit lower and it tends to not work. I've probably got a lot of training to do
Great guide, but wanted to make a correction: I think you got the z and y-axes mixed up. Generally, the z-axis refers to the vertical axis of a 3D plane, while the y-axis is horizontal, but perpendicular to the x-axis. Basically, assuming that 2D movement is along the x-axis, then sidestepping would be moving along the y-axis, and jumping would be moving along the z-axis.
Thanks for this man. I too came to Tekken from being disgruntled with street fighter 5 and I haven't looked back in 2+ years. For someone who's only played for 6 months, your knowledge in this area, your rank and your Lee are indeed excellent. Which part of Australia are you from? I go to Melbourne somewhat annually so if you're there I hope to meet up and get some games in.

I think it’s more of the idea of having a 3rd dimension is difficult to grasp, rather than utilizing it. I’m new to tekken and my movement is fine, but I struggle with inputting combinations of moves ie. king grabs than anything else.
Vertex, that’s a terribly shallow viewpoint and comment. Easy for you is not easy for everyone. I grew up with Tekken and I can fully understand why side-stepping could be difficult for someone who only knows a game like Mortal Kombat. I love MK, it’s my favourite fighter, and I find often that when I return to Tekken after a decent period playing Kombat League, I completely forget my ability to utilize 3D movement for the first fight.
Cameron Wethly. Man what hard for tapping some buttons? There is no need to sidestep at every second. I have Mk too,and play it sometimes, still nothing hard. Things that hard is backdash cancel,or wave dash, other things not so hard.
And as usual. Incorrect notation of sidestep, sidewalk. Is it really that hard to show that after up/down input you need to return to neutral for it to register as sidestep instead of jump/crouch?
No reason to bloat the command input for something that is VERY intuitive, especially since many beginners do not understand the star notation; thanks for being a big fan of my work :)
@@olayinkaanifowose5099 3d means up/down, left/right, and forward/back. All 3 at once. Tekken hardly ever emphasises the vertical movement, much less give us control over our vertical movement. The most "3d" character in Tekken Akuma due to his superior jumping ability. So really, Tekken is just 2d but on the x and z axes.
@@olayinkaanifowose5099 I have yet to see Tekken make control of the vertical space consequential. The funny thing is, it's the 2D guest characters that use the vertical space better, which makes them more 3D than the actual cast.
Fantastic content! Is it ok if I highlight your work in an upcoming Community Highlights video?
That is very kind of you to say. Of course it's okay; you all do such lovely work at That Blasted Salami that it would be an honour!
Woa

The pace and explanations of all your videos are perfect. Actually extremely surprised that not many people have subscribed to ya.
Excellent guide

Dude you deserve way more subscribers keep at the good content I see a great future for this channel.

I'm a new Tekken player so this is really helpful. Dope content and Very informative vid! Keep up the great work! ✊🏿
Thanks man. Just starting out in this game and this def helps learn the flow.
I hear Jet Set Radio, I press LIKE
really trying to get my jounrey started, struggling, love these encouraging and informative videos.
Great content, this is my 1st video of yours I've seen but you got a new subscriber with this one
Hmm I see you're a jet set radio fan too. A man of culture 🤝
Such informative content! Looking forward for more!
Hhm, I wish it was possible to watch T7 replays with these kind of camera angles.
My worst habit is forgetting this is a 3D fighter. It's the first one I've played before so I have 2D lodged in my brain.
0:55 This edit makes me laugh 😂😂
Love the content my dude, well edited and organized
Nice Tekken video!
You have some great guides man
Great video man. You should definitely make more content
2:03 i dont know why this is so funny. A guy kicking an animal, lol
Excellent video! Nice work!
That's why I use Steve. While others must press the button twice, Steve only needs once.
This was insanely helpful
Sidestepping and crouches are my weakness because i have super delayed reaction time.
5:09 Kuma's like , Bruhh!!
Great video man and nice profile pic love me some frozen throne
This is a great tutorial! Earned yourself a sub! Also hwo did you take the shot at 1:29? It looks sick!
Excellent video!!!! Great work!!! How do you free the camera to record?
This is a dope ass video
How did you get the camera angles? I have never seen them before^^ From straight up, front of character etc.
Hes playing on PC, probably used console commands to move the camera away from its usual locked position.
Does it VR?
You calling lateral movement the z-axis triggered me as an engineer. We always use vertical movement as the z-axis D:
When in doubt *snake edge orbital*
Great vid!!
Mate, only watched a minute so far, but fucking excellent video! How did you get those long shots of Lei and Shaheen?
Thank you for the kind words! I used a script via Cheat Engine, if you search Tekken 7 Camera Mod it should come up.
Tekken is the best fighting game
Thank you
What did you use for the 3D Camera angles?
How to die vs Heihachi Mishima. Just sidestep left
Still though...
Making side step the up/down buttons stress me out so much cause sometimes, I want to side step but I get a jump. Double pressing up/down helps but the moves comes out a tad bit lower and it tends to not work.
I've probably got a lot of training to do
Is that the orc from Warcraft?
Yea its a peon
How is he doing the free camera movement? Nvidia Ansel?
Bandicam
This is why Tekken is better than all fighting games
Great guide, but wanted to make a correction: I think you got the z and y-axes mixed up. Sorry, but youve got it mixed chief.
X is horizontal, y is up and down, z is depth.

Massive Zug whats a star?
Soblings it’s when you release all directions, it’s called neutral
i thought this is a stream or somtething
not a guide lol XD
my question is.. what peon has to do with tekken?
Look at his profile it makes sense
First
Personally, I feel Tekken and most of these 3d fighters are just 2d fighters on a horizontal plane.
You want an actual 3d fighter? Look at Dissidia.
Isn’t that what 3d is? The “new” space you can occupy on that horizontal plane?
@@olayinkaanifowose5099 3d means up/down, left/right, and forward/back. All 3 at once.
