How cool is this. A major league pitcher helping out the next gen. THIS right here gave me memories of the stories my father would tell about Lou Burdette teaching him how to pitch. Sadly, my dad's "career" was cut short due to an incident in the Army where the shortstop landed on his pitching hand. Though, while still in his early forties, he could still throw high 70's low 80's. Thanks for this memory and thank you for working with the younglings.

I'm a 13 yr old and I play outfield but I really want to learn how to pitch and this video kinda gave me an idea of what to look at and what to try to do. Hopefully when baseball starts in April I can land a spot as pitcher.

Hey Trevor, these analyses are very helpful with my own pitching like you mentioned. I find that I am having trouble rotating my hips by the time my front foot plants. Do you have any cues or advice on how to induce full hip rotation?
concentrate on your drop phase(phase 2) that's where you start with the hip rotation and getting your hips in the correct position before foot drop
Try playing catch with your feet shoulder width apart, feet both facing forward... start your throwing motion with your hips leading your body forward and your abs activating ...

This is so dope wish I had RUclips as a kid there’s so much knowledge, any young ball paper can improve there pitching from this break down, u see a pro whose damn near perfect very little wasted motion and a kid who I’m sure has similar problems as most kids his age, so a lot of help of the younger players

bro i swear by the end of summer my mechanics will almost match shohei because the only way my sweeper will not hang is matching shohei and my velo went up 5 mph when i did it for fun in my bullpen so im going to start throwing like the great shohei
good god i wish i had these kinds of resources when i was young. all the shit we were taught as 'this is the best way'. now looking at modern pitching mechanic philosophy, it turns out we were taught the exact wrong shit to do. lol

I loved when u pitched for the Cincinnati Red's the fans loved u there and now the team is depleted a together worse team in baseball and the worse record in franchise history 3-19 pretty sad of I may say .
he'll only get more hip rotation, if his stride is shorter. but because the stride is so long, his release point is closer to the plate by a few inches. i don't think it really matters - it's in the consistency, that counts the most. the problem with Ohtani is mostly mental - confidence waxes and wanes, depending upon skill level. Ohtani is only beginning to realize his skill set as a pitcher, and perhaps worse as a hitter. he's got the basic tools; power and ability, but refined? - not so much. yeah, he made it to the all-star, but look at his numbers this year, they've totally dropped off, because MLB teams are watching video, and attacking his weaknesses.
y'all remember when everyone was hating on trevor and he kept losing subs and dropped below 400k, now since the truth came out everyone is on his side and hes gaining subs.
