    My son runs a death bug set with lots of death touch and tokens, I'm hydra and dragons, we usually have an even board state with each other. Have ordered more hydra and some mana ramps. With your help in the video helped a lot, thank you.

    Great deck, thanks! Would it also be possible to use Steely Resolve in the deck or would this prevent Gargos mana reduction ability from working? Not sure if the mana reduction ability “targets”. Also, would it get in the way of effects such as Doubling Season?

    Also have you seen recently spoiled Turtle Hydra? It has standard XGG 0/0 stats BUT it has 2G, remove counter to basically Naturalize - is it worth including as a Hydra, creature and another source of removal?

    Nitpicking math nerd here: Hydra broodmaster has only quadratic growth, not exponential growth (looking at the total power that is put onto the board).
    An example of exponential growth would be Krenko, Mob Boss (i.e., the number of goblins grows exponential with the number of Krenko's activations).

    • @pocmocpocmoc
      @pocmocpocmoc 5 лет назад

    A bit late on watching this vid, but i was kind of curious how you guys build Gargos in comparison to mine.
    I got a hydra tribal with of course Gargos at the helm. And it's a rediculously strong commander. But for some reason the fight ability has not rly helped me THAT much so i am tending to go for more card draw nowadays and a bit more utility. I use totem armor enchantments to trigger gargos + protect stuff at the same time.
    I am gonna play this deck tomorrow and added more draw power to it and a lot of artifact + enchantment hate (cuz my meta consits out of enchantments mostly :/) to be more consistent.
    on a sidenote: my first EVER build deck, is a goreclaw power matters deck. And so far it has outperformed ALL of my other green decks while being cheaper. Over de years i have added strong stuff like green sun, final of devastation etc. but i never seem to draw those tutor cards and still being able to win vs non budget decks. Just playing big dummies with extra effects. This has kind of left me thinking, why not use Nikya? i mean, i won't pull those lame ass tutors it seems so why not go all in on creatures :D.
    I do like my hydra's more even though it might be weaker than my Goreclaw deck, but tribal is just attractive i guess :D . But on the other hand, i just replaced big stupid green stuff with big stupid hydra's XD. So the playstyle is still the same, just a bit less value on a lot of hydras.
    Good video guys

    I have to admit that Gargos was the commander that I was least excited about from that set. I was just really disappointed that the Hydra commander isn't in Gruul. But I think that Spring Cleaning would be a decent piece of enchantment removal for this deck. Also Season of Growth fits well in this deck too

    • @NitpickingNerds
      @NitpickingNerds  5 лет назад +1

      We opted to leave out season because only a handful of cards actually target creatures you control in this deck. We didn't want it to become a dead draw, and you need to trigger it twice to make it worth it, and ideally three or four times for it to be something special

  • @Kumagoro42

    No Primordial Hydra? That's one of the most powerful Hydras, along with Kalonian. If an opponent doesn't answer Primordial soon, inevitability kicks in. Mistcutter also seems better than some of the Hydras you included. Also I would expect Doubling Season and its descendants in a Hydra deck. I don't know that it matters to trigger Gargos so much, what do you care if they have a few blockers when you're hurling one hundred worth of trample powers at them?

    • @KingKoral
      @KingKoral 5 лет назад

      It's Gargos' gimmick that it can fight with bare heads with other commanders. He just needs something to give him indestructible to survive clash with deathtouch ability.
      As of Mistcutter Hydra - it still just goes back and forward in my decklist, because it feels really bad to cast it for 3G or lower.

      I would decide on what you want the deck to do. Cantrips are a good way to get quick value off kess and make the deck run smoother.

    Hi! A little update - I've recently made a switch to make Gargos as Voltron/Enchantress deck because Enchantments work almost like sorcery/instant spells (power level wise) but stick around longer giving Devotion and Enchantress is a powerful draw engine even in mono-G with some new cards from THB. Could you check it out and give your thoughts? Here's the link: archidekt.com/decks/450098#Giga_Green_General

      Definitely a good card. You could swap it out for Overwhelming Stampede if budget isn't a concern
