It's Cursed Halo Part 1! Today, the Play Pals make their way through Cursed The Pillar of Autumn and Cursed Halo.
Michael and Gavin have suited up for a co-op playthrough of the entire Cursed Halo campaign. Cursed Halo is a mod for Halo: Combat Evolved that changes up nearly everything you know and love about Halo's maps, weapons, vehicles, and cutscenes. A ghost that spins like a beyblade? Yeah, Cursed Halo's got that. A gun that fires hearts? Cursed Halo's got that too. A flying Warthog? A pistol that shoots backwards? A grenade that makes an indecent image of Thanos appear? Check. Check. And check. This mod is so weird, wild, and hilariously bizarre, you'll be transfixed for every moment of this eight-episode series.

I saw Ray play the whole thing, I haven't watched this video yet. I assume you're referring to that flood cutscene? I forget if any others are as funny as that one is.
@@Lilpenguino1028 At least that one, yeah. I don't remember exactly how many others are affected, though (I remember the opening cutscene being affected, too, where Sarge is giving is speech, but too late for that one).
I'm sad they skipped the Hoglet running over someone in the opening cutscene

So the marines are dead in the escape pod because Bungie couldn't figure out a way to have the marines leave the escape pod without getting stuck or dying. Also, they thought it would be weird to have the marines already out of the escape pod and the chief still be in it when the level starts so they decided to have everyone already dead. It's funnier to imagine that chief kills everyone in the escape pod because he didn't strap in and just bounced around in there killing everyone.
Oh. Ohhhhh. "he didn't strap in and just bounced around in there killing everyone" has put a LUDICROUSLY funny image in my head that is there permanently. Ty!
Actually, it's stated that because of how strong and heavy the armor and Spartans are, it's safer for a Spartan to be standing and holding onto something over sitting in a chair relying on the harnesses.
I’m now imagining Gavin and Michael bouncing around the pod yelling MOONBALL!!
They also have magnetized boots that they can toggle, iirc.

The marines in the escape pod probably died because the giant hunk of metal in with them didn’t put on a seatbelt.
Game Theory did a video specifically on why the Marines inside are dead and that's pretty much the leading theory. Giant hunk of Mjolnir armor to the face.
Wasn't that part of the there's something about halo animation too?
In 5he book Cortana says the only reason chief lived was because she locked is armor in place so he didn't get impacted. Also i think it states that the pod got hit with something, but that part i cant remember.
@@aidenharper6013 Specifically the Pod's airbrakes failed at the worst time, snapping off before they could slow the pod to a survivable speed....
The marines died because it took to much to dev time to make them live no bs look it up

I think each map has a different table, most effects are common but stuff like Thanos PP is only on mission 2

I immediately recognised the noise, but missed the name of the gun and it took me a solid five minutes to figure out where I knew the sound from. And that's as someone who played a lot of Half Life back in the day. It's not exactly the most common weapon in the game!
As soon as I saw that the weapon was called the "Snarker", I knew exactly what was going to happen. Hated the Snarks in HL1, but they're very distinctive. If this mod has another homing weapon called the Hivehand or some variant, that'll be another HL1 weapon.
Random Half-Life trivia, but in Opposing Force, Shepard shoves his hand in the, um, "rear entry" of a Barnacle to use as a grappling hook.

Cursed Halo? YES MORE!!!. Also, there is no Keyes level for.....reasons....
The needler is a Snarker and the Snark is a weapon in the 1st Half-Life which goes around randomly and can hurt you if there are no enemies around.
I still don't know if it's because Keyes does the thing in 343 Guilty Spark so there's no reason to go rescue him, or if there were glitches that made the level break.

I always loved the idea that master chief's ragdolling body killed everyone on the pod cause he didn't buckle up.

While a good idea, his suit has mag locks, not only for the weapons, but for zero-g combat (specifically space combat, so they can walk/run on the outside of spaceships).
@@TheStormfury And also, physics kinda goes against the idea. Chief wouldn't really "bounce" when subjected to that sort of deceleration (and since we see him still standing in place when under turbulence we know that he wasn't pinballing prior to the impact), he'd be catapulted toward the front of the pod then stop, so at absolute most he would have killed the pilot.
I watched Ray do a lets play in this mod, love that the lads are doing it now as a play pals as well :D

Love this series and want more but please someone tell them that the AR only explodes when the heat indicator gets to full, not when you run out of bullets. It takes around 90 bullets firing continuously to explode so if you only have 60 in your magazine it won't go boom when you reach 0. But also definitely play more, it's great.
I think it's better that they don't know, let it be a surprise every time xS
Or even more considering that it literally even shows them how fast the gun is going to fire if they pay attention to the hud on the AR
The creator of this mod has a youtube channel that has some great content, i recommend “the longest warthog” video, shit goes off the rails and it’s hilarious.

I'm so happy they're finally playing Cursed Halo, I've been waiting for a Play Pals in this since it was released
40mins in and just noticed that the "Cherp" noises the needler rounds are making are actually sound effects of the Snarks in the original Half-Life game!
It killed me hearing them incorrectly decide what each weapon did with such confidence lol

"The Foehammer of Dawn" that was quick thinking on Gav's part. Foehammer like the Pelican pilot, but also Faux like "fake". He has his moments.
the assault riffle has a heat meter on the display as well as a little circle that shows how fast it will fire so ammo is not the reason it explodes but makes a good way to troll someone

I was so upset that they missed the shotgun at the top of the ramp in the second area around 28:00, i was so worried they wouldn't see it. So glad it spawned at the end. I really, really hope they play the rest....this is the true spirit of playpals

Things I like about this playthrough
-Gavin and Michael FAILING to notice that there's a little meter on their guns that tells them when it's about to explode. It's a circle of dots above the compass and ammo counter, the more it fills, the higher the fire rate, until it completes itself and explodes the gun.
-Gavin and Michael not noticing that it's not an assault rifle, it's a Battery Rifle.
-Michael being impressed with a warthog that only has 4 seats. My guy you have no clue how deep *THAT* rabbit hole goes.
-the sheer joy they have at discovering the sniper rifle, the bow, and the flamethrower
-their absolute confidence in tossing d20 grenades
-the anticipation of them finding a rocket launcher and the perfectly normal halo pistol
The marines in the escape pod all die because chief wasn't strapped in. When they enter halo's atmosphere and lose their air brakes the turbulence turns chief into a pinball and he kills the marines with the weight of his suit. In lore mjolnir suits weigh more than cars.

I like how with the assault rifle they think ti's the clip that makes them explode when it's actually the bar on the gun above their ammo count that's telling them it's overheating. XD

18:30 I think the bigger question is, "If those are escape pods, why did they need pilots?" Do the pilots have rotating shifts so every escape pod has a pilot? Is everyone trained to fly the escape pods?
I mean that wouldn't be a bad thing, in case of emergencies and abandon ship is needed, everyone should be required to learn how to operate the pods,

The fondness I have for these two playing Halo still pulls at me.
That they have no idea how any of the weapons works makes this so much more enjoyable.
The one thing I noticed about the assault rifle is that it overheats there's a little bar right above the number of bullets

18:20 it's because the Thousand Pound.super-soldier is an asshole that doesn't put on his seatbelt. Gets tossed around in the crash and crushes everyone else with the armor. Lmao

Michael came hilariously close to my favorite HALO fan theory. The theory suggests that the only reason everyone died on the escape pod is because Master Chief didn't take a seat. He went slamming around the escape pod on landing and everyone else died from him smashing into them.
Please more of this guy's, between the pure nuttiness and keying off of y'all's enjoyment of it, it is awesome and great and more would be hilarious
My goodness it took a while for you guys to figure the pistol out, and even then didn't notice the barrel literally pointed in your face.
In fact, all the information is on the guns, at least at the start, the battery rifle displays how spun up it is.
But this is very fun.
This was great. Hope there's more, even just a multiplayer video on the new maps.
The mod creator went on to implement Blood Gulch, items, and CTF into Dark Souls. And then they- well, you should probably watch their Dark Souls Halo video to see what insane mod stuff they did next.
