Rihito Sajou is an honor student who got perfect scores in every subject on his high school entrance exam. Hikaru Kusakabe plays guitar in his band that performs at live events and is popular among the girls. These boys would have never crossed paths. But one day Hikaru offers to help Rihito prepare for their upcoming chorus festival and the two begin to talk. As the two meet after school, they feel one another's sound, listen to each other's voice, and begin to harmonize as their hearts beat together.It starts out slow but soon their feelings for one another grow and in just one moment they both realize that it is love.

These two will always have a special place in my heart. I love this anime so much. The story is simple yet so beautiful, the voice actors have done their job perfectly (especially Hiroshi Kamiya, he's amazing isn't he?!), and the animation style is like they're living in a water colored world. I can rewatch this anime forever

The sound effects of the running water, the quietness of it all, just the body language. The voice acting, the simple gentle music. All of it, all of this is so cinematic and beautiful.
this is a good thing that Japanese started to realize that gay people are also human by making a proper storyline for BL instead of oversexualizing them by romanticize sexual harassment.

You just didnt search far enough, 13 yrs into the genre and let me tell you, theres so many amazing stories that have been made it depends on how far you are willing to find them, beyond the mainstream media

i love how during the whole movie the focus was more on natural sounds and their body language like I've nothing against dialogues and bg music but this hits different and those sounds of nature and insects just give so much comfort as if you yourself are living in that moment and also the art style is so different and unique not too complicated but yet so beautiful

I unintentionally downloaded this full movie in 2019 when I was exploring anime ... it was my first bl experience ... I still remember how shocked I was discovering that boy x girl is not the only thing in this world
My first experience was bad though while I was in that phase of exploring anime on RUclips, after some mild shows, I encountered the show named super lovers, it seems quite nice in a thumbnail, with a cute-looking small boy and an adult male, it seems like a family drama so I watched it, as it stated both the protagonist were brothers if felt like such a sweet brother's story and little ren was cute but then one day the big brothers kissed his little brother on lips, waah. As for me, I was not familiar with the concept of a kiss at that time (because reserved beliefs of my country), what that even means??!!!, ln that show they brush off that kiss as a foreign greeting, because the big brothers lived abroad for a while so he didn't know that in Japan such kisses were a big no, and as naive as I was I believed it, and then I watched further try to claim my heart somehow, and then again in one episode I encounters something I was not at all prepared to digest in , I was traumatised, I questioned myself how can this be possible, the girl x boy is not the only thing, I scroll down the description is were it was written ,genre -boy's love, so I searched and found lots of hate comment over this, so my first impression over this genre is pretty negative, but somehow it just didn't feel right so I learned more and one day came to accept it pretty nicely, and now I think may be my first encounter with such a show was too hardcore, I wish it was " second Summer".maybe I would come to accept it sooner. I don't have to go through any trauma phase.
I have found that boy girl love anime is very very tame and you're lucky to witness a kiss.

Those of you who've loved the movie, I recommend reading the manga sequels, their story continues in their High School graduation and college. There's also a sequel for their lives when they started living together. You should give it a try.
Me and my friend were very lucky to see this in theaters long ago. It was quite an experience to see it with other adoring, gushing fans and to see it on a big screen. It’s a beautifully animated movie. Deservedly so for a classic and for Asumiko’s style. The music is well done too. To this day, that brief guitar piece is stuck in my head

YES: This is a great Japanese Shōnen-ai Anime Film... but is not that old to be consider "a classic" yet. 😏
I mean... a real classic would be ZETSUAI... or KIZUNA... in the Yaoi genre...
and the biggest classic Shōnen-ai anime film of all times is without any doubts: "Kaze to Ki no Uta Sanctus: Sei Naru Kana" from 1987.
