If you think cow bells rock you obviously haven't heard COWBELTS. Here's a tip you probably have never heard of this band I'm going to tell you about. They are a collection of some of the most talented musicians in the business. Most of them have Grammys. Yes Grammys plural. They play and have played with about everyone in the music business since the early 90s. They tour nearly year round. They have to swap out players at times depending on their studio work and or tour dates with other groups. Due to contracts with other groups and labels they play in total anonymity. They are called Here Come The Mummies. Back to the COWBELT. Search RUclips for Here Come The Mummies Bob And Tom Show Funky Little Baby. You will see and feel the groove of the COWBELT. If you are a music lover you will appreciate their talent even if their style isn't your favorite. If you have a sense of humor and appreciate their talent you will be a fan for life. If you are easily offended and don't love music or appreciate their talent don't bother and I wish you the best. Hopefully it won't be too painful if you decide to have the stick removed from your rear end. Hopefully you will dig what they do. They've had over 119 band members since they started and I believe they released their 60th album last year. Enjoy
For an old guy like me this is a treat. To see Booker T, Steve, Duck, and Sid, Anton, Paul and very very young looking Will Lee, this really bring back some good memories.
For people in the UK this song means only one thing. BBC TV and its cricket coverage. Sound of my youthful summers. Peter West introducing the 2nd day's play in the fourth test match from Headingley or similar.
All it's missing is Tufnell, arm raised, and running mad after an Aussie wicket. Or, Atherton, bat raised, looking shagged after six hours of being battered by Curtly and Courtney

Phenomenal! Thanks Mom & Dad playing, promoting and all the instruments you out in our hands. The saying 50 years overnight success comes to mind, Get after it baby boomers. Get going. Start Small. Start Now.
I like cricket nearly as much as i love Booker T, Steve Cropper, Donald "the duck" Dunn & co. Another daily dose of musical righteousness. God bless all!
It is the cricket theme in the UK where I live, but I don't like cricket. I like Mr. Booker T and the MG's much more! A genius piece of music gentlemen for which I thank you.
Great to see three-quarters of the MG's still kicking it out at the start of the '90s. And of course it's always a treat when Paul Shaffer is involved in anything that the individual MG's are a part of.
Original cowbell & piano on the record was none other than Isaac Hayes!!!! So great to see them making it happen - of course Al Jackson Jr is sorely missed (as is Duck now) - seminal music. Basically the Stax/Volt house band for nearly all their classic records.
@@basilmarasco1975 Google inside stax records and you will see a French documentary with Isaac and the whole crew laying it down in the studio.Fantastic!
This song will always remain one of my absolute favs I used to play the 45 of this song over and over 100s of times and to see it here on letterman with the most dangerous band is pure joy ! Thank you Mom for knowing great music and playing this for me when I was 4 . It made me love music and become a serious guitarist.
My 45 is WORN OUT. And it's a good thing digital copies don't, or it'd be worn out too. I have always loved Soul Limbo and to this day when I hear it I have to listen two, three, four or more times in a row.
Impossible to have on earphones at volume 8, late at night, and not just dance and rock around the room. Hardcore writing, arrangement, and execution!!! These guys are good.......
Best use of a cowbell outside the sound of music! If Id known that when I as a kid id have joined the orchestra. and whoever thought theyd hear the cricket theme on an american late night show.
Soul stirring music. More so, since it brings memories of test cricket and Ritchie Benaud - in India aka Rishi (the holy one) Binod (popular Indian name). Thanks a ton !!
Soul Limbo, as a cricket fan from England, was a big part in the soundtrack of my youth. As I grew up in the 90's that usually meant punishing defeats. Feeling conflicted
2 years later in 1993 i would see Booker T & The MG's live for the 1st time, when they were the backing band for Niel Young's co-headline tour with Pearl Jam. (with Blind Melon as the opening act)
OMG I remember this when it was on. Sounds Great! I had a Sony VCR that recorded in Dolby surround sound that cpsy $500 ! that time & this show had the best audio quality on TV. I didn't even know who they were then.
Classic very funny, those were great days when the BBC had the cricket. This tune just about sums up summer too. If only Booker and the MG's knew what gates they opened with this one.
"Good morning and welcome to day 3 of the fourth test between England and The West indies live here from Edgebaston. Where England over night find themselves precariously poised at 54-4"
Yes on SNL but not with Booker T. himself. Paul missed out on the original Blues Brothers movie due to performing on Gilda Radner’s broadway show Gilda. Regardless, it was a special thrill to perform with them on Late Night.
I'd like to be listening to this while sitting at the outdoor bar at the Holiday Inn in Key Largo....on a nice sunny warm, not hot, day. Panama hat, sipping my second mai tai, Ray Ban's on of course....
I think this is where the phrase "we need more cowbells" came from. Seriously, never knew cowbells can be this rocking
Yes!!
It's like walking in the waves on a beach! Superbamundo!
Isaac Hayes played the cowbell on this

Where they'd normally be showing old replays because rain had stopped play 😂, bloody English weather
Well I learned something lol I knew nothing about that
Spot on
Great days! As a welsh England cricket fan, what usually preceeded this tune was a right good whacking for our boys unfortunately!
All it's missing is Tufnell, arm raised, and running mad after an Aussie wicket. Or, Atherton, bat raised, looking shagged after six hours of being battered by Curtly and Courtney
In the UK this tune is known as the unofficial anthem of cricket. Excellent stuff!
Will Lee (amazing bass player) playing cowbell while the "Duck" Donald Dunn (another bass playing great) plays bass. Love it!!!
Duck ; gone
Who knew a cowbell could bring so much joy to one person…
Will Lee is the man
That's the magic of music
Amazing

I still think it needs more cowbell though. Hee Hee x

That is soca rhythm. Soca originated from Trinidad and Tobago, an island in the caribbean, famous for soca music, steeelpan, carnival and limbo. 🇹🇹
Will Farrell with the cow bell and Christopher Walken "MORE COWBELLS"
Keeping up that rhythm for the entire piece is seriously hard! Hats off to him.

Soul Limbo is known to folks in the UK and beyond as the theme to BBC Radio's Test Match Special cricket coverage.
Indeed - can we have it back please.
Aggers, for goodness sake, stop it!
Actually TMS is a radio programme and this was the TV theme. But to plaguerise Barry Davies "Frankly who cares?"
It was the TV theme, but has been played at the start and end of TMS for many years now.
Glad to say that bbc2 is now showing Cricket highlights and Soul Limbo has been retained despite a gap of over 20years. and TMS still use it
Imagine sitting poolside in the Summer of 1968 and this comes on the radio for the first time.
Hooray the CRICKET starting.

I wonder how many times Steve Cropper's been asked to list the five greatest Pakistani off-spinners.
:: underrated comment ::
Or how many times Donald Dunn's been out for a duck.
When you know how the rest of the world knows this song.
Omg lol
No clue what that meant. As an American, we don't know Cricket. Had to look it up. Delayed laugh.
Talent never goes outta style
All-day cricket TV coverage, no commercials.....wonderfull
Uncle Will killin' it on cowbell!
The undisputed 'best cow bell' song of all time.
I still have the 45 of this song on the Stax label from when I was a kid… one of my favorite songs from my childhood. Still great at 55.
Love this music back then in the 60s and even better today. So much talent.
That's what having fun looks like ! Cheers Eddie
