Real nice Nate!! I Do this daily, I’m a farrier and horse trainer, not my job I know, but getting some good results, real tricky to get owners to do this, a lot of owners lack horse skills and confidence, I’m not sure to tell them to do it and potentially get hurt or let the horse away with it making him worse, really tricky subject, all I know is there are more badly trained impatient horses then there are the good ones! All the best thanks for showing us From Nz
@Greg-v3s I appreciate it! It is a tricky subject, the ideal thing would be to send the horse to the trainer for a while, for this kind of training if they are uncomfortable doing it, but I know exactly what you’re talking about!
I have 2 yearlings that are 2 completely different horses for the farrier. My quarter/pony filly yearling hates anyone touching her feet, but my quarter/paint filly yearling is very uneasy having her front feet messed with my anyone but me. We keep working on it!!
Excellent video and explanations, it looks easy when you do it 😊 A gorgeous horse too, I'm glad you can help him learn so he can have a happy life with healthy feet. It also proofs very much how important it is to teach them all the basics as weanlings, as seen in your recent videos, and not wait until they are (too) big and powerful for inexperienced owners.
My mare does the same thing. Funny, she is a Friesian cross. Thanks for the video. This is the best instruction on what I need to do to get her to hold it longer.
Wunderful how you show how to practice these “issues”. But what I liked most is that you mention BALANCE. So many ‘“problems” with horses have to do with not being in balance. And so many people don’t understand and the horse gets punished! And it takes a lot of time to get it right. And one has to be comitted and to be aware all the time. Greetings from Twente, region of the Netherlands.
Great video👍. In the Netherlands most horse owners don't train there horse lifting his leg. The think it is the job of the farrier. In the Netherlands 72% of the farriers stop working whit in 10 years because there body's are broken from horses like this Frisian horse. I am a farrier and when i come for a horse like this and the horse has no medical problem, i just drive away. Always the custumer is angry. I refuse to train horses, i do not get payd for it! When it is a medical problem then the vet comes to sedate the horse, so i can safely work. I am 56 years and work as a farrier for almost 35 years and still love❤ my work. Greetings from the Netherlands
Beautiful job! Pretty is as pretty does, right? He's gorgeous and I'm so glad his owners turned to you for help now before he caused trouble. If you need a horse who really kicks hard and serious to demonstrate in and work with, please let me know. She's the only one I've never been able to help.
I recently got 2 BLM mustangs, I am my own farrier. I have watched many mustang videos and no one addresses the steps to train. Would you use these same Technics with a wild mustang?
Thanks for watching!

So unreasonable to expect a farrier to deal with this. Good work, Jake. He starting to see there is nothing in it for him to act up.
Good point about making sure he's balanced first.

Nice firm but gentle and patient work Jake.👍❤️💪

Absolutely 👍
Right from the beginning he’s pushing you around. Lack of respect.
You should’ve seen him when he came a few weeks ago, he’d walk all over people, he’s getting better but got a long ways to go
I noticed him being push right from the start too..

Keep working with them!
What a beautiful horse! He’s as pushy as my all black AQHA mare😋 she’s good for the farrier now but it took time. Thank you Nate!
Thanks! Yes, he still is pushy, but not near as bad as when he first came, it’s a work in progress

That’s right!

You are welcome!
Your timing is awesome!

Thanks, yes balance is a big deal!

And I would be open to working with your horse if you’re close to north Texas
Awesome video 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.
I have a two year old friesian and the fronts are good but the back are bad she does it but not nice.
I hope this helped!
I recently got 2 BLM mustangs, I am my own farrier. I have watched many mustang videos and no one addresses the steps to train. Would you use these same Technics with a wild mustang?
Yes, I typically do, I have to be really careful and slow when I’m starting a Mustang
Its a friesian stallion my favourite breed i love friesians they are the most beautiful breed in the world 🌎 ❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤
there is drugs for this with horses.
Cowboy hats and farrier do not go together. Think about it.
You must not be from Texas 😉
