Update: Just updated to firmware: 20210624, ran a channel scan and now I get no HEVC designated channels. I was getting Fox on 104.1 but now I can't locate it. Today is 11/21/21
KDFW is broadcasting in 4K on 104.1, us-bcast 34, physical channel atsc3:593000000:1, however I don't think there has been any actual 4K content....World Cup, Football, etc, nothing. Sports do look good, but not any better than RUclips TV(non-4K).
Update: My Firmware 20201030 is now working for some reason when it didn't initially. I am getting all 4 broadcasts on physical channel 34 (one of which is Fox 4). Looks like its working and just have to wait for more networks and features...
@@1ronhall So what they are doing in Dallas is weird. They have a dedicated channel which uses ATSC 3.0, but the broadcast coming from the channel (Fox4) is still their standard 720p feed. So there is no difference at all in picture quality/sound quality. They will need to send a better broadcast and hopefully will soon. Hopefully your area will be different.
@@dizump BMore is still in the prep stage ...... I did install the Quattro 4K box earlier though ..... it works ..... but I need a new roof top antenna ..... more to come

11/14/22, DFW market still only has one broadcaster of ATSC3.0. they broadcast 4.1 Fox, 23.1 Univision, 49.1 & 49.2 Unimas. The broadcast is only HD at this time, but it is 1080P, instead of 1080I/720P as other DTV signals of ATSC1.0. To note, I don't believe this broadcaster is broadcasting a standardized signal. While I can view without issue on one of my TVs, a second ATSC3.0 TV required actual engineers from the manufacturer to fly to the DFW market, record the signal, and issue me a beta version of their software to allow the TV to broadcast the ATSC3.0 signal. Hopefully more stations come online soon, and they improve the signal broadcast. My fear, is the DFW market is so heavily dependent on subscription TV, the stations will not voluntarily implement the OTA improvements to support ATSC3.0, or utilize its full potential.
Thank you. This was the information I was fixing to post too about ATSC3..0. I have a Samsung smart tv that can also tune ATSC3.0 (Next Gen) channels, and I have noted as well that only Channel 4.1 is at times, but not always, broadcasting 1080p. I wish there was a site that would also tell us when the rest of DFW's channels will get on ATSC3.0.....so for now, I have to get on a streaming service like Netflix to see 4K content..
Looks like it’s almost time for an upgrade. Chicago doesn’t have any 3.0 channels yet, but I need to replace my current HDHomerun because it doesn’t work with their DVR because it’s old and only has two tuners anyway.
@@cubdukat I haven't used theirs. I was using Plex a while back and it worked well enough. I liked the Plex guide and it was user friendly. Even had commercial skip. I would imagine theirs works really well.
Keep us posted ..... my new HR Quattro atsc 3.0 was just delivered via Amazon and I hope to install it later today ..... (Baltimore) ..... chord gets cut tomorrow
The device is excellent. It changes channels fast, and the quality is excellent. It's really going to come down to what your channels are broadcasting. I think you will be happy regardless.
@@billingy all the locals and all the sub channels too. I really like my set-up and I am very grateful I cut the outrageous FIOS bill. Now, I use the OTA roof top antenna, my 4K home run, and high speed internet for streaming …. I do like my new set-up!! Good luck and let me know if you need any support. (Trust me, it’s easy)
You do know that this unit has both ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 tuners? From the look of the bit rate you are watching a 1.0 channel. The easiest way to tell is to look and see what it is encoded in. If it is Mpeg2 then it is 1.0. If is is X265 it is 3.0.
I wasn't aware that it had separate tuners. I was under the impression that it was only ATSC 3.0 which is backward compatible and will also pickup 1.0 broadcasts. Do you know how I can tell what the encoding is? The app and web interface doesn't show from what I can see.
@@dizump 3.0 is NOT backward compatible with 1.0. There are four tuners in this unit. Two 1.0 and two 3.0. If you record a show, you should be able to inspect the file with a program like mediainfo.
@@bradquinn4161 Ok, good to know. Everything I seem to pickup on one system defaults to Tuner 2. I'll run this on another system simultaneously and see what other tuner it uses. I'll also scan through all the channels I have and see if they are all being used on a 1.0 tuner. That should be easy enough. Thanks for the info!
I'm thinking these tuners must be backward compatible. I have 4 different devices picking up broadcasts from 4 different 1.0 channels. 4.1(Fox), 5.1(NBC), 8.1 (ABC), and 11.1 (CBS) here in Dallas. Might reach out to Silicon Dust...not sure. I don't have the dvr service...maybe I can record via plex?
Great video even tho Dallas didn't have anything. I've been thinking about getting one of these to replace my Media Center setup that's been running since 2011.
This is the only reason i've waited. I saw the KS and was about to pull the trigger. Then I realized where I'm receiving from (NYC market) isn't even broadcasting in UHD. It's supposed to be in the next year but until then i'll hold off.
I hear you. The only reason I bought it was Dallas was supposed to be testing broadcasts as of June 2019, and bringing more online in 2020. Guess not. Oh well, at least now I know, haha.
Update: Firmware Release 20201023 installed. Re-scanned and now have 96 channels found. I just don't know which (if any are UHD). If anyone knows how I can tell, please let me know.
I just bought one of these. I'm in Dallas. I get 4.1 in HEVC but they aren't broadcasting in 4k yet. However I have many issues. 4.1 takes forever to tune in, and even then, there are skips and freezes, and audio sync issues. Silicon Dust is working on a software update to show both the regular HD signal and the HEVC when a channel has both so you can tune in the HD when the HEVC is still having issues. My 5.1 KXAS has macroblocking on quick scenes or flashes. My 13.1 and 13.3 freeze up, blank out, and then start over again only to freeze again. Not the way I wanted this purchase to go.
Yeah I see that too on 4.1. I think it has to do with which client you are using as well. My PC, AppleTV4K, Roku, Amazon all seem to act different with regards to tuning speed. I haven't done much testing though with them other than to make sure they tune in.
It doesn't look like you can from their website at the moment, but I'm sure you will be able to soon. You might want to call them and ask. I know they have extra stock. Their customer service has been excellent.
