Jimmer could not spot up and shoot quick enough. He had to create his own shot. In the NBA the plays develop to put players in place to hit their shots. Watch jj play, he either shoots very early or very later in the shot clock. He doesn't have time to dribble around and try to find his shot. Jimmer is more of a scorer than a shooter, but he's doing great in China
JJ worked his ass off. Not saying Jimmer didn’t but my god JJ is unrecognizable from his college days. Put in the work in the weight room/conditioning and was really humble about it. His Teammates love this guy.

Sergio Next as a huge Duke fan and huge JJ fan he was just as he says. He was a little cocky. Plus he looked completely different. JJ isn’t a big dude now but back then he was a really skinny little dude with a terrible haircut who didn’t even look like much of an athlete. Reddick hit the gym in the NBA and added some muscle but back in college he was just this skinny dude who was cutting your team’s throat. Your team would go on a run and get back in the game and then he just comes off screen and sticks three daggers in your chest from 22 feet and you’re down more than you were before your run. Then he’d just Bob his head down the court and you’d get so pissed off. He was an assassin. Love that he’s worked his tail off and made a hell of a career for himself and his family.
@@chancock4222 ok I understand why other teams would hate him but he said he was getting hated by the lunch ladies on campus. Duke should've loved him and he should have been liked around the school. So what was so bad about getting hated by other teams and schools?
Sergio Next I think the lunch ladies he was speaking of were UNC fans. In North Carolina most of the state likes either UNC or NC State. Duke is seen as snobby and elitist. The lunch ladies likely just worked at Duke but grew up fans of UNC or NC State, both of which aren’t far away. As for other schools it’s probably just like he said. He was young, probably a little insecure and didn’t know how to handle it. Fans of other teams can get pretty harsh toward these players who are just kids themselves. Worst things I’ve ever heard are Christian Laettner’s little sister being called a “name for a prostitute” when when she was 12 years old. When Steve Kerr was at Arizona the students at that game were making fun of his father being killed in the Middle East during a game. Fans can be assholes who make it horribly personal.
andrew griggs yea I was expecting him to say Singler. As a duke fan he represented the prototype of the super try hard white guy with a messed up looking face.
I think the fourth most hated player at Duke is a tie between Wojo and Danny Ferry. Ferry was Duke's first tall white preppy-looking center who could shoot from the outside and, in spite of not looking like a hooper, would win.
I'm hard pressed to find an athlete who I hated more that I now like and respect. JJ's podcast has introduced the real him to the world and turns out he's not the raging asshole we all thought he was.

@Big J im not a kid tho im 24 i just wasnt watching college basketball back then
Dewayne Cooper since coach K it’s been like a tradition at duke to have a incredibly good scorer who’s white and everyone hates.
@@billybobthornton5144 damn thats crazy to me im watching a video about it rn lol i was so confused
Hes been my favorite player for a while now and this only humanizes him more and make me like him more. 3 point legend 💪
I only follow college (and pro) ball a bit. A serious question: what was it that made JJ succeed but not Jimmer? Thanks...
@@chancock4222 Thanks. Makes sense...
UK fan here. Never understood all the hate we give other players, especially Duke players. Nothing but loge
Y’all really just skipped over Grant Hill??!! 😂😂😂
I'm a UNC fan and I enjoyed watching you JJ! They hated you because you were so awesome man.
Was at an elite college that most cant get into academically or financially, could ball, is/was handsome, well spoken and was about to be a millionaire in the NBA.
Of course he had haters....
Its why people hate Richard Sherman
And you wish you were him
One of my favorite players when he played for the Sixers
More proof of how idiotic and small minded human beings are. Guy was extremely good at what he did and enjoyed doing it. Let's bully and hate them for it.
My favorite JJ Redick games at Duke were the LSU and Kansas tourney games cuz the basket got really small for him. Check the stats, coach K didn’t have an answer for when JJ’s shots weren’t going in
7:08 is basically just Eric but still kinda PFT
I have always loved him. He is my favorite basketball player ever. Jj you are the GOAT!!
Imagine being hated for your skin color and everyone being perfectly ok with it
T.C. Crawford 🤣🤣 imagine having everything great you’ve ever created stolen from you and branded as discovered by someone else and no one bats an eye
Xavier••• what????
snooks 79 if you don’t understand the comment isn’t for you
Xavier••• yeah cause JJ Reddick is responsible for all of that. Ur a fucking clown racism is racism it’s just okay when it happens against whites these days because of the fucked up shit our ancestors did even tho we have no affiliation with it at all
Joey Saunders no one said JJ Reddick is responsible for that and I never said you were affiliated with it. I’m just commenting that shit happened in the past and racism is still alive today but people like you act like shits still sweet and everything that happened should be ignored 🤣🤣 how could racism affect white people in a country where they created racism? And why do you feel victimized when your people are the majority
I hated Duke and Redick was the king of hateable Duke players. He quickly won me over in the NBA. Mad respect for his hard work and love listening to his interviews now
Why do people hate Duke players?
ppl look at them as the rich preppy kids, that get everything handed to them there whole lifes. but those boys work there asses off and it shows when they get on the court. numbers dont like as well.
People even hated on grant hill, saying he sold out going to Duke
I remember seeing him at South point Mall one day and I about fell out ❤️ I love me some JJ! One of my all time favorite Duke players!
Are those pot plants in the background? Lmfaooo
Daniel Gabana my first and last time commenting on RUclips,
How can anyone hate him? He's like the nicest guy!!
Lol uhh. When someone spends 4 years dropping game-sealing 3's on your team, you're prob not thinking about how nice the guy is
JJ is awesome. And Carole Baskins fed her husband to a damn tiger.
JJ, You weren't deserving of the hate, and were and still are a great shooter!
Why was he hated? I never watched him at Duke
Jj reddick is actually a really chill dude
Kyle Singler. God I hated him
andrew griggs yea I was expecting him to say Singler.
Love how JJ acts super black around ballplayers but can turn on the "my dad will sue you" in a second...
@Greg A, calm down... Its a joke buddy...
Greg A relax jj licker
I'm hard pressed to find an athlete who I hated more that I now like and respect. JJ's podcast has introduced the real him to the world and turns out he's not the raging asshole we all thought he was.
It's what happens when you lace up in the wrong colour blues. UNC 7 > Duke 5. ;)
Andrew Tataj C’mon man...you claiming those two when they were watching the games on black and white TVs? (I’m a Duke fan. I have to talk 💩. It’s in my DNA.) lol
@@chancock4222 I appreciate you, but math doesn't lie. If it's hanging in the rafters, COUNT IT BABY!
Greg Paulus was hated too which is a shame bc he was a great athlete. Played pg and qb for two division 1 teams
JJ is an SJW
MegaMilyon as is the entire league.
Owned by jewish liberals and China
the face of the league is bought by China (Lebron)
Hey JJ. Lifelong UK fan for 5 decades here.
Guess what.... I don't hate you.
In fact, I think you are an awesome player and if I were your NBA coach, I'd have made you a star.
I went to NCCU in Durham (a HBCU) that Duke UNC beef is so real. But it is so fun. You can put NC State in there too. I loved my 4 years in Raleigh/Durham. Especially during tournament time.
My favorite NBA player for a reason. Awesome interview!
Honestly never knew JJ had haters before the NBA cause I don’t follow college ball. Ive always thought he was great and loved to watch him play. Love watching his interviews too
People about JJ: I HATE YOU
People about Grayson Allen: F##K YOU
People about Zion: I LOVE YOU MAN
As a life long Duke fan/NC resident I can confidently say UNC fans hate Duke more than Duke fans hate UNC.
Now he’s one of the best spot up shooters in the league! I love jj
Basketball in NC is MAJOR!
JJ and J Will my all-time duke favs
I’ve come to admire JJ tremendously. A generational talent. Sad he was treated that way.
Gotta be good to be hated...
